I think healing, understanding human behavior, growth of one soul all aligns with pyschology. It makes perfect sense. Be a witch, nun, priest all are avenues of healing and understanding the pysche.

Appreciate your perspective on this but my heart hurt when you spoke about having to silo your witchcraft and psychological practice. I’m an Aboriginal Narrative & Art Therapist, and Social Worker in Australia. I practice in an integrated way using traditional knowledges and western tools, I even take tarot into that space though it took me some time to get comfortable with that. My witchcraft is more a hodgepodge of traditions but I’m sure it seeps through my work with clients. I’ve worked hard to get to this point and I want to add even more woo when I move into private practice. I do appreciate though psychology is probably more rigid and I absolutely agree with your critique of its pathlogizing of numinous experience, it’s been detrimental to my people in the same way. We actually have an Indigenous Psychologist association here who also are active in colonising the field, early days yet but there are some awesome papers written by their crew. We need people like yourself out there grappling with these boundaries and rewilding the helping professions. ❤

I've seen this deck and others by the same company pop up in a few european tarot webshop who distribute it. I like the illustration style too but I was hesitant in buying any of the decks because there seems to be no information on the illustrator at all. I get very suspicious about this, if the artist doesn't get any credit, it can be a red flag that the artwork was used without permission.

I love this video, especially when answering the question of "how to you rationalize" your spiritual practice. You don't! This is how I feel too. It does not need to be rationalized in order to make others more comfortable.

I agree with you. I also feel the vulnerability you describe. We live somewhat parallel or maybe more accurately mirror-imaged lives, you and I. I have been literally "split" in two for almost forty years. Science professionally and magic personally. I am currently evaluating the outcomes of my choice early on to "split" myself and walk down both paths simultaneously. I will just leave it at that... publicly.

Absolutely love this! I’ve been so curious about how you reconcile witchcraft and psychotherapy as a field. The pathologizing that you mention is one of the biggest hurdles I have to finding a therapist; I have been scoffed at far too many times in all variety of medical settings, and to have my all of beliefs, my anti-colonial mindset, my ancestral practices, and my animist beliefs questioned isn’t something I’m ready for. Finding a therapist is like speed dating, except they will also get enough information from one session to invalidate like, my entire being.

As a psychotherapist myself, I have been feeling such a way as you have described concerning the psychological model focusing too much on pathologizing spiritual expansion and growth and mislabeling developmental and spiritual milestones. I see natural processes of change and growth and deeper understanding where psychology sees disorder. I am a bit (actually a lot) sad over my findings and have been trying to reconcile my differences.

I may have to get that article as I know it will be worth the read. 😍 I totally agree that psychology pathologizes that which may come to those of us who incorporate the metaphysical (& the unexplainable). I'm sure you go into this, but do you consider the psychological model to be a theory into the 'personal' nuance of the mind? I've always interpreted it as a way to conceptualize the phenomenon of consciousness. It's interesting to hear that modern psychology considers the psyche as separate. That is antithetical to me. 🤔 Anyway, I really enjoyed this. ❤

I also LOVE my passport TN! I always take it with me when I travel and it is so perfect for that purpose. Nice seeing the update and that its been working so well for you 👌 thats the great thing about this type of system the notebooks are small enough that you fill them quick enough & get to keep customising the setup to what works best for you at that time. Also, i love pencil boards so much, i recycled an old larger cardboard tarot box into two pencil boards last year. Works like a charm!
