Thank you so much for this review! I see this book being hyped up a lot, meanwhile all Slavic creators I know who've read it dislike it And now I finally know why! It's really upsetting when a culture gets so heavily misrepresented by outsiders
Thank you! It is upsetting. I understand that it was originally written back in the 90s but it's 2023 and this stuff gets re-published; meanwhile other books with similar level of misrepresentation of the Slavic culture have been published in the past few years. Wish I'd reviewed some of them back when they were all the rage but I felt too annoyed to say anything back then. Won't be silent anymore 😆 But hey, let's hope that this improves in the future - I would really like that. I'd be very curious to know if any of the Slavic creators you mention have psoted any reviews or otherwise spoken about this - pls hit me up in DMs or here, whatever feels comfortable.
This sounds like it totally has Carlos Casteñeda vibes as well as similar to how some 80's and 90's witchy (usually Wiccan) books tend to appropriate bits and pieces from other cultures. Thank you for taking the time to make this review! 🖤
I really appreciate your honesty and integrity. This is no different than the cringe material published in neo--pagan and wiccan books throughout the 1980s and 90s. Thank you for sacrificing your time in both reading this horrid junk and in putting together this review. I had a weird feeling about this book, your review confirmed it, and I thank you for saving me from wasting my time and dollars.
In my practice the world tree is called Yggdrasil and how it works is it represents the nine Realms of Asgard and the middle world being Midgard or realm of the humans and the underworld being Jötunheim, Niflheim, Helheim and Fólkvangr and the solar cross is known in Scandinavian folk tradition as the sun wheel. Slavic witchcraft is cool too thank you for sharing😊 Blessed be!!!
Thank you so much, Ella! ♥ I would love to see the same! There's plenty that could already be picked up for translation. But if that's too hard then I guess some of us must write our books in English asap 😆
Woooow thank you for taking one for the team and sharing such a good and thorough review! I audibly laughed at the amanita muscaria part and the ghost message in the forest 💀
My pleasure! I'm glad I had the opportunity to do this 🙏❤ Hahaha, same! I read that paragraph about amanita a few times to make sure it's not my reading comprehension. It was real 🤣🍄
Thank you for the review. Wonder how those errors flew under publisher radar. It’s sad that someone writes down their assumptions and shows it to the public as a reliable source.
Seems like writing books of such "quality" was the norm in the 90s which is when this book was originally published. It should've stayed in the 90s and never got picked up again, unless pretty much rewritten from scratch.
I have a question, since you are a Polish witch, why don't you speak Polish? Or at least you don't have subtitles in Polish? I'm asking out of kindness, because I'm Polish and I don't know English very well, and I'd love to know what you're talking about.
Pozdrawiam :)
It is a shame that what is supposed to be an accessible text on a lesser-known culture and practices is filled with the author's personal beliefs. I hope that someone tackles Slavic magic in a way that elevates the cultures, peoples, and practices instead of an overly Western and often Wiccan author.
All it takes is giving a book deal to someone who actually lives in this culture - and trust me, some of us are working hard to get that chance, including myself. I wish western authors would stick to presenting such material from the perspective of their DIASPORA instead - this would make for a fascinating, authentic and actually helpful read. I would LOVE to see such books out there.
I just got this book but now it's going to the bottom of the pile while I work my way through real sources. Thank you for your review! One thing I am concerned now, Madame Pamita wrote the forward so maybe she supports Kenneth, but I thought her own content (diaspora) seemed good. At least her book has lots of clear citations. I wish there was a legit book out there that was good for beginners 🥲 It's hard being part of diaspora because we only have pieces that get passed down, and have to try to put the rest together alone.
I feel you. My book is coming out in Fall 2025 -- it's written for folks of the Slavic diaspora who are looking for more authentic voices & legit sources straight from the locals. I know it's a long wait still, but it's coming to fill this burning hole on the book market! 🥰
@@polishfolkwitchThat's wonderful! I can't wait 🤩 📚 Thank you so much for making these resources available ♥️ I'm happy to wait longer for a true voice then to learn from a fake one right away.

Thank you! Glad to know others also see similarities with Castaneda's books, I thought I was being silly 😅

You would think that 30 years later people know better but apparently not 😆

This was such a good review! Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you so much ♥
Sure glad you know your shit and threw this author under the bus! Would love to see a video of you talking about some Slavic folk tales.
What a thorough review thank you! ♥️ Id love to see more people writing books that actually are from those cultures!

Hard agree!!
Can you do some spells for reporters protection in english and polish same video
I don't do this type of videos. Please get yourself acquainted with somebody's content before making requests like this, cheers ❤

@@polishfolkwitch I await those efforts and hope one of the premier publishers in the occult space takes it on.
