How much do you charge to do fork seals
The price depends on what bike you have and where you are located.

@themobilemotorbikemechanic that's OK no problem thanks anyway 😊
"Just a case of old fuel?" That's just a myth! I have a motorcycle sitting with fuel for over 2 years and it starts and runs just fine!
Great job.
Can't recommend this guy enough, sorted me out in record time and I'm straight back on the road. Watching him work he clearly knows what he is doing. No worries there. You'll be in the best hands! Will definitely use his services again and highly recommend him to anybody else, thanks Steve!
Dont know what oil thats is but it doesnt look like the recommended 20W50. Nice RP18 tho, ive got the same. Nice vid but its easier with the rectifier off. ;)
👍
Tight valves? Funny story. I went into Halfords a couple of years ago, wanting some easy start. They had never heard of it. Even though they sell it! 😯
My dad who died last year at 95 taught me to add paraffin in bores and oil if gummed rings suspected then flush and change oil. He cured a few old engines in his garage that were gummed up. Why dyu have to open throttle for a compression test? Curious
Hi Steve when I did a compression test I opened the throttle fully the turned the bike or scooter over
Some bearings just need to be hammerd in to break them apart and use a minitool with the 1" cutting discs to cut the inside of the race outer at 45 degrees from bottom to top . Careful not to go right through as you want to be able to inset a chissel to break the last 5 thou or so and it'll drop out . Plus you can polish up the aluminium with a 1" wire wheel before rebuilding as well as to clean up the bore above the bearing for a squirt of WD before even attempting to draw one out . Iff like this one there's a spacer then cut down the inner as best you can and split it with the chissel to break it apart . Before the advent of minitools i used a Black & Decker electric drill and carbide 1/4" grinding burrs to cut a groove out for the chissel to split , took longer but worked ok . Still have the old orange drills and the little Honda 550w generator in the workshop . Plus using copperslip when replacing the bearings and bolts makes it a lot easier when doing it next time . A smear around the outside edge of the bearing when driven home will set and stop water ingress . Aswell as a 2ft square of 1/2" rubber conveyor belt is best to place the wheel on when working , keeps it nice and protected from gravel rash / dents .Conveyor belt dosn't cut through like a plain rubber mat . And some times rapid light tapping works better than slow heavy blows = i have a SDS drill with rotary stop to use chissels , can pick up chissels cheap at car boot sales and grind them down to different diameters to use as drifts . It's sometimes better to get a bearing moving and keep it moving than bang it and let it stop .
Bro come to Florida you will make so much money !!!
We need guys like you!!
Maybe one day!
Me gustó mucho el vídeo. Que pasó con este motor la motocicleta se ve casi nueva. Un saludo. Gracias por el video. Estamos al pendiente de lo que pase con la Yamaha r125.
How could i contact you to fix the same model of bike
When doing compression test on engine it is always done with the throttle fully open not closed as you have just shown in your video.
Even when cranking that sounded like the starter was spinning far too easily. Hopefully a few drops of oil down the bore will get those rings seating nicely again.
Its a 125 and thrashed, carb full of fuel contamination and gummed up rings if your lucky, half a tsp of oil down the bore and wide open throttle on the comp test would tell you more.
Carb???? Isn’t it fuel injection. Typical ragged 125😂
You're supposed to hold the throttle open when testing compression , didn't look like you were ?
Not sure that would have made a great deal of difference here. Even when cranking it sounds like it’s spinning over too easily.
and thats not how to test a spark plug.
How would you test a spark plug?
I didn’t hold the throttle open but is that really going to make a huge amount of difference. No
@@themobilemotorbikemechanic It makes a big difference. You sure you're a mechanic?
Check cylinder with an endoscope for some weirdness
not maths..
gummed up/stuck rings?...always thought that if this happens drop some oil down the bore(s) and try again..
Modern fuel does suck though.. I have a collection of older 1990s/00s Sportbikes which I rotate each year riding on the road. Mine are all in my carpeted (😂) heated garage, and I add Stabil fuel stabiliser and run the carbed bikes fairly regularly, getting everything hot and lubed 👍🏼 I had an issue with my ‘98 GSXR750 SRAD yesterday.. wouldn’t start, Fi light flashing. I checked every connection, cleaning them as I went, but it turned out to be the tilt sensor. I think not actually being moved much in a year caused it to stick? Not sure, but if it does it again..I’ll replace the part 🤓🔧🛠️ Hope your channel blows up mate.. it’s good stuff 👍🏼
Tight valve clearance?
Hope you do a part 2 Steve ( of course depending on what the customer wants to do ).
Love your videos Steve...just simple without any bells but,you get that job done spot on.could I ask? What makes that fork seal driver? I'm loving that.
It is made by a company called JMP
@@themobilemotorbikemechanic thank you.
Hello, it would be very nice if you could help me with a problem on my bandit 600. When it has warmed up, my revs wont go back to normal idle. For example, i start it when it has warmed up and it idles pretty nicely at about 1200 rpm, but when i give it a little bit of throttle the rpms drop back to around 2000 for a while and wont go down itself. When i let out the clutch a litte, it almost immediately goes back to normal idle. It doesn suck in any flase air and the air fuel ratio for idle is a little bit richer that standart. I noticed that the throttle slides of every cab have around 1mm of play. Do you think that this might be the problem? Thank you and greetings from austria
I had the same issue it was because I was putting E10 fuel in my bike not E5. E10 is to rich and thick for the bike I was told
👍
Please get a torque wrench
We all use the good old German torque setting, Goodentight
We already have two. Why do we need another one?
Brilliant!
Happy Gilmore is one of my all time favourites
Nice job, well explained.
That's alot of chain lube in the wrong place.
My mate had the c&s replaced on his hornet years ago and the dealership didn’t take into account his weight and the rear shock wasn’t the best. Chain was tight as hell when he sat on the bike as he’s a big lad. I’ve heard of this happening quite a lot where mechanics overlook this fact.
You can only set it up as per recommendation of the manufacturer.
@@themobilemotorbikemechanic I get that and I’m not saying you did it wrong but factory specifications are usually totally out. They don’t take into account the weight of different riders, suspension sag, riding with pillion or luggage.
Another good video. Thanks steve
Hi Steve, good and interesting video as always. I wasn't aware you could still get new chains without some sort of o, x, z ring anymore. Surely without the seal and grease this chain will not last as long as the original now? just curious as whenever I've replaced chains and looked up for my bikes (Duke 125 & ER-6N) they've always recommended a sealed chain.
Chain life depends on a variety of different things including the type of chain, how often it is lubricated and adjusted etc etc. A chain will last depending on how it is looked after, not just if it has O rings or X rings.
@@themobilemotorbikemechanic I see, thanks for the explanation 👍
Nice little bike haven’t seen one of these
Oh and thank you
Great video
When working on Japanese bikes use the correct jis tools.
Yes we know the difference
Very interesting video. I'd probably just have gone cheap chinese crap and thrown it away ha ha
See this issue a lot. Fuel turns to jelly and plays havoc with pumps, injectors, carbs etc. fuel stabiliser definitely helps
Should all the bolts not be torqued up to a certain level?
Hey mate can i ask what did you use the clean the inside of the tube? Cheers
Brake cleaner and a cloth
Please when working on Japanese motorbikes use the correct screwdriver. JIS cross head screws are different and are easily rounded by people who use wrong tools
Yes we know the difference
How much oil goes in to a lxr 125 se 2020
About 1.3 litres but it depends if you’re changing the filter
Thats not a z750..
Grinding metal without covering any of the panels... Oh dear.
Was that only 3rd gear?!
So you have a garage to work in and the weather is dry and when there is no shelter it rains. That's life I suppose. Anyway just to say great video as always. All the best.
👍
Another good video
Almost the same process as the very first Z750 - but a touch more nippy ! Thanks.
