    Hi! Have any fragrans of your Maxillarias? I have two. One of them is tenuifolia and the other one is chacoensis. Never bloomed for me yet. But I am really curious to see blooming. Great video, thanks.

      @elpilarorchids 4 дня назад

      hey zoltan ! so the variabilis does have a faint scent...others say theirs have a strong scent. so im not sure if its our culture or the plant. the tunfolia is supposedly also quite fragrant, but as we mentioned we don't have one of those :( good luck on getting yours to bloom! maybe try giving them a bit more light and experiment with dropping temps in the fall. generally ours seem to like to get a bit chilly?? be wary of overgeneralising, tho!!! good luck!

If you want to send green seed, you need them to be inside the capsule and they are only opened when under a flow hood in sterile conditions. Good luck with them! I reckon that bellatulum X thaianum would receive a lot of interest, hope you get some viable seed.

      hey Justin! yes, on slipper talk we say the thaianum x bellatulum and the paph nerds seemed to get all uppity, so i figured it would be a good cross to try. fingers crossed something is viable!!! your paphs and plants are looking great, as usual...

    Hi there, good luck with sending your seeds to the lab, hopefully this time successful! I found a flashing service lab, so will be sending mine too and we'll see how it goes. I'm planning to send the whole seed pod to keep them as fresh and viable as possible. Thanks for sharing and happy growing 😊

      hey Mary! great, I am glad you found a lab...can I ask where?! maybe we could chat "off camera" about some details and compare....or maybe do a little compare collab video about it one day?? originally we tried sending green pods off, but had problems with holding and moisture. altho, we learned the hard way that you need to just use paper envelopes, and NO plastic linings or bubble wrap protection. oh well, live and learn... good luck with your flasks!!

    Yellow patches on lower leaves on hieroglyphica could be a sign of Magnesium deficiency, IMHO. I'd expect Calcium deficiency to manifest itself on the opposite end of the plant (on youngest structures rather than on oldest).

    If you want to mount a Phal that has been in bark (or any other hard media) it's best to mount them on the moss instead of burying the roots under the moss. This goes for any orchid. They're not used to being suffocated 😁

    • @elpilarorchids
      @elpilarorchids Месяц назад

      Hey Ynse, not sure we want to mount anything right now...our conditions aren't the best for it and we can't just hose the plants down everyday or whatever. so yeah, sticking with pots for now

    Your repot looks great im interest in leca only as i have a phalanopsis in poor shape poor root system and floppy leaves .how does the warter method work and would it help my phalaenopsis hoping you can help have a good day regards 😊

    • @elpilarorchids

      hey nick, its possible it could help your plant. hopefully your phal still has some roots. we are just using this method to keep them alive until they start growing new roots. put it in a glass, soak for 8-24 hours and do that twice a week. phals can do ok in leca only, you just need to learn how much/often you water it in your location. best of luck!
