  • Maxillaria orchids are the unsung heroes of all the orchids! You can grow them easily at home. Lets have a look at a couple....

I have 4 😁a small growing yellow Variabilis, a somewhat larger redish/brownish Variabilis, a common Tenuifolia and a big Chrysantha. The Yellow Variabilis flowers with a mass of pungent smelling flowers and for a long time, the brown one has a faint coconut/custard smell. Chrysantha hasn't flowered yet

Hi! Have any fragrans of your Maxillarias? I have two. One of them is tenuifolia and the other one is chacoensis. Never bloomed for me yet. But I am really curious to see blooming. Great video, thanks.

hey zoltan ! so the variabilis does have a faint scent...others say theirs have a strong scent. so im not sure if its our culture or the plant. the tunfolia is supposedly also quite fragrant, but as we mentioned we don't have one of those :( good luck on getting yours to bloom! maybe try giving them a bit more light and experiment with dropping temps in the fall. generally ours seem to like to get a bit chilly?? be wary of overgeneralising, tho!!! good luck!

I really like Maxillarias. They are beautiful and fragrant. Thank you for the answer. :)
Yes, a little cooler weather can affect the flowering of plants.
For sure, they need a lot of light and water. Thank you very much. :)
