Great video (& suffering). Looks like you did the XL version via Mon Cheam (Jam). Those switchbacks are really nasty before the descent, which is pure magic. I am looking forward to doing this route later in the year when up there for a month.

Get a 90mm stem and, if possible, put at least 1cm additional spacers. I'm not sure why you were so quick to chop that steerer tube.

I did a similar route because of these "some" comments recommending it last month.... and I disagree with them! I think a route including cape tormentor and sa calobra would be the most spectacular.

Great video, congratulations on completing the ride. In years to come this will give you such great memories. If you like Gran Fondo events, I’d strongly encourage you to come to Australia and take on Peaks Challenge. It’s a 235km ride with over 4000+ metres of climbing. This years (2024) event was held in 42 degrees Celsius (107f), where’s the previous years had showers and small hail. Truly one of the world’s toughest events. Plenty of videos online of this years Peak Challenge 👍

Wow so sorry to hear of your hectic start to your vacation! I am glad to hear you are reunited with your bike though! Sad that the bag was damaged & hopefully you can get reimbursed a bit on that too. You know you might try & see if there are any boating/sail maker type shops there as they could easily sew canvas type materials & probably repair that ...maybe? Anyway good luck & looking forward to further trip reports. Looks great!

Wouldn’t book a transit flight in Europe with so short time, don’t expect same efficiency as SG. Also my experience with Scicon bags are the worst so hope you buy something else.

My Scicon is the older. No TSA locks. I think I want to mark my bag now.
