My top 10 BIGGEST ride LETDOWNS.
At the recording of this video, I've ridden 585 U.S. Rollercoasters. Along the way, I've been on my fair share of duds. However, these 10 rides were the highlights of my biggest letdowns thus far. Each of these were far too hyped coming into my first ever rides for each (Sometimes by the coaster enthusiast community and sometimes solely by myself.)
Do you agree with my list? Have similar experiences with them?

    I love Phoenix, but do have to wonder how many coaster that are running PTCs with individual ratcheting lap bars, seat belts and seat dividers would be better with the old school single bench, buzz bar only restraint.

      Amen. People get ticked when I say this, but your wandering mind and Mine are on the same page. Comet LOSING their old trains this season in favor of New style ptc trains has practically killed the experience for me, I'm just assuming that means it would kill Phoenix too.

    The three Morgan’s are not clones. They may be similar but they’re not the same. Raging Bull IS a great ride, in the back row. Most of the elements hit, it stinks you didn’t get a good ride. To the locals this is still the best ride in the park. Maxx Force gets a similar wait(no capacity) and Goliath’s is 25-35 minutes almost always.

    • @PRC2019

      They're clones to me. Lol Steel Force and Mamba are identical and Wild Thing only has a shorter brake run/turn around. Same thing with Batman the ride clones, to they're still considered clones even though they aren't indentical in specs either. I've ridden Raging Bull a dozen times, not just 1 isolated disappointing ride, but in fairness, I've only got the back twice due to assigned seating.

      I had 2 awful rides on back to back days in July 2023. Supposedly, the trims were "off" then too. Steel Force is the by far, the least trimmed of the 3. I'd prefer if all 3 parks operated theirs like Dorney does.

I had the opposite reaction to Apollo's Chariot. I was expecting a snooze fest but enjoyed it with no expectations. I do have to disagree about Phoenix. The thing about where SFOG is located, is that the city of Atlanta is one of the fastest growing cities in the US. It might remain a solid mid-tier park for now but could be a potential top tier in a few years since CF may have intrests of expanding into Georgia.

    You are underselling Carowinds. It is top tier and moving up to golden child status. Knotts is top tier even on a bad day. People who have been to SF Mexico say it is better than most of the other SF parks, so to clsim it as bottom feeder is just silliness. With thst huge theme psrk resort heading fir Oklahoma, I'd say Frontier City will get sold. It is landlocked and no room to do anything. Worlds of Fun and SF St. Louis take nothing away from Silver Dollar City. People from all over the world go to Branson for vacation. St. Louis isn't a vacation destination. People from St. Louis drive by SF on their way to Silver Dollar City multiple times a season. St. Louis goes to SF once a year, maybe again for Halloween.

    • @PRC2019
      @PRC2019 15 дней назад

      I'm not rating the parks, I'm predicting where capital is going to be flowing for the next decade. And which parks could get cut. I love Carowinds and Knott's, but they simply do not get the same investment levels as a cedar point or Kings Island level park... YET. But it's coming.

    • @PRC2019

      Additionally, SF Mexico has quite literally zero competition. I can assure you, they will not receive investments at the same level and pace as a top tier park. Not even close. Also frontier City is owned by EPR properties, as I stated in the video. Nothing to sell. They don't own it. They just operate it under a lease.

    I don't think sfa will be sold. They just invested in a reimagined area of the park. If six flags would invest in this park more, this would become a great park to visit and for people not to drive a long drive to a different park.

      They did some reimagining, but besides new trains for mind eraser and a couple flat rides, but nothing MAJOR. If I were trying to extract value out of something I owned, I would polish it up to the best of my ability without making any MAJOR investments. Just a little bit of lipstick on the pig. Although I hope they keep both, I see a 30% chance of SFA being dealt.

  • @Cap-ku6ok

    Here is the deal with Carowinds. First off, in recent years they have been in the chosen category in the CF chain. Charlotte has a very young educated population which is what businesses covet. Secondly, the headquarters are now in Charlotte. With that, all the managers, and vendors will come to Charlotte/Carowinds for training, meetings and business. I feel the executives would want their 'cooperate' park to be the example of the chain. This is like Mack Rides and Europa-Park. If you want to see what Mack Rides represent, you go that park. Same with Six Flags and Carowinds. Kings Dominion's fate will be determined by what they do with SFA. That park could be successful if given the CF Carowinds treatment. They are in a high density populated area and there is no excuse to be languishing the way they are.

    • @PRC2019
      @PRC2019 15 дней назад

      I would agree that in the future, IF the Charlotte area's growth continues, this park will move to Top Tier by the 2030's. If this happens (Which is likely) then I could see SFOG moving down a tier simultaneously. But I think your overall premise is spot on, just gonna take a little more sustained regional growth before we see it.

    Michigan's Adventure wont be sold cuz it gets zero investment and makes money. Thats free money right there. Six Flags America is the park I see on the chopping block. Sure its in the DC area but its also redundant cuz its right in the middle of Great Adventure, Dorney and King's Dominion.. The land it sits on may be more valuable than the park itself

    • @PRC2019
      @PRC2019 15 дней назад

      You could end up being right on Michigan's Adventure, but I have additional reasons to believe this park is on it's way out in the next few years. I meet a lot of park employees as I travel. The fascinating conversations that I have with people help guide my content and some opinions. I believe there is smoke here, but I will also acknowledge that I'm speculating on who is actually going to purchase it. But considering that my prediction happened prior to these conversations, I really believe there is a 60% chance that by 2028 Michigan's Adventure will be hosting Phantom Fright Nights in October. lol

      @PRC2019 It won't be Palace if anyone. They're hemorrhaging money as is. I know they lost a shit ton on Lake Compounce last year alone...and the whole Steel Curtain debacle at Kennywood...which I've heard from several people is more Palace's faul than S&S fault

    • @PRC2019
      @PRC2019 15 дней назад

      Not sure I would trust those sources anymore lol. Parques is an incredibly successful operator. Lake Compounce is doing great, park looks amazing, and wildcats retrack will finally gets completed in the off-season, but what they've done so far rides very well. Huge improvement. Kennywood felt confident enough to file a lawsuit against S&S, and miraculously S&S is all of a sudden helping fix the ride. (I hear S&S is also partially on the hook for the 3rd party engineer too) So, yeah. Very likely that Parques looks to expand its US footprint. Maybe not Mich Adv, but again, I'm going out on a limb and feel pretty confident, but we shall see. I can safely say that being sold to Parques would be the best thing for the park's long term success, because right now, The New Six Flags has no incentive to improve the ride lineup of a park that already prints them money. (I but I'm not sure it's going to make the cut) So let's hope that I'm right! I want a healthy shivering timbers and wolverine wildcat for decades to come!

    • @Posirep
      @Posirep 15 дней назад

      @PRC2019 I worked at LC last year for fun. GCI was PISSED cuz the park was letting one of their trains on Wildcat literally rot underneath the ride and more or less forced them to refurb the train. The train they are running now(the one with leopard spots) is that refurbed train. They noticed that on their own while doing work on Boulder Dash. They took out the Bumper Cars for "cost" Old rides manager told me that flume is probably next on the chopping block.

This metro area is enormous and I believe that the next major expansion at SFM will be a waterpark. But we are literally right on the cusp of Carowinds transforming into a top tier in front of our eyes, which should be cool. Alright Clay, you baited some wrong answers to drive the comments- I get it, that's pretty smart. I'll take your bait. #4. There are 4 Superman clones making it the second most cloned B&M. #5. There are 10 different parks in China called Happy Valley. The most roller coasters (all manufacturers) in any singe Happy Valley park is 7. The Happy Valley in China with the most B&M's is the one located in Chaoyang, Beijing with 3. The correct answer is Six Flags Great Adventure and when Penguin Trek opens at SeaWorld Orlando they will tie with 5 at each park.

    • @PRC2019
      @PRC2019 20 дней назад

      I have ZERO China coaster knowledge. That one was not intentional actually lol The Superman was baited though, it's a bad question. Raptor is still the correct answer. 4 Superman--- 2 total with 2759 ft and 2 total with 2798 ft. Whereas both clones of raptor are indentical with a total of 3 (including the original)

      @@PRC2019 There's only 2 raptors too though, the original and the one from Expoland that was relocated to France. That one is both taller and longer than Raptor and because it only runs 2 trains, there are no brakes in the straight track of what would be Raptor's mcbr. Those are as much clones as the 2 mantas, or the 2 sheikras or the 2 griffons or the 2 medusas. There are 2 identical family inverts at 2 different Happy Valley parks in China and BGT is getting a slightly larger clone of it. There are also 2 pairs of identical wing coasters, the 2 hot go models and a different pair at 2 different Happy Valley parks as well. I say the with all that- the supermans have it.

    Cedar point at 5? Seems like you are just hating on it bcuz of top thrill issues. Even without top thrill cedar point should be higher. I know these ranking are overall experience. But ride lineup should be the biggest factor in deciding where to place the parks. We go to amusement parks for the rides. Cp has an amazing coaster lineup ,one of the best in the world. I think they have great food options as well. Ive never experienced bad operations there myself. They are blazing fast compared to my homepark(valleyfair). I have a hard time seeing kings dominion and dorney above cp. I can see an argument for kings island.

    • @PRC2019
      @PRC2019 21 день назад

      I think you make some valid points, but in fairness, I WAS giving CP enormous credit for the coaster lineup. As does everyone else, which is why lines consistently exceed 1-2 hours on MANY of the coasters. Considering that we both agree that we go to the parks to RIDE, I take line length heavily into consideration as well. However, I visited KD last Saturday for the 4th time this season and haven't waited more than 30 minutes for ANY coaster in each of those 4 visits. Additionally, the Kings Parks and Dorney have a more friendly layout to navigate without having to walk the entire length of the peninsula. I really appreciate your feedback and value the opinions of the people that watch the videos. Can't wait for some more engagement in the future, hopefully I gave you a little snap shot into my (at times) unconventional way of viewing things. I don't think the statement is ridiculous if you're acknowledging it's your 3rd favorite park 😂 BUT I get your point. Fyi, CP is closer to my house than Hershey, so no favoritism at all, just being honest. IMO Wildcat and Sky rush are better than maverick and vengeance. It's close, but I give the edge to the two rides with better operations. When the quality is so close, I look to tie breakers. Just my preference. I will concede that TT2 and Millie have a SLIGHT edge on storm runner and candy, but not as much as people make it seem. I LOVE the feedback and commentary though. And THANK YOU for giving me a great topic..."Do you need a giga to compete with the CP's of the world" and also, "what does Hershey need next to topple CP" Thoughts?

      Not a rollercoaster ranking, but KI not being #1 might be controversial, but I think I validated those reasons. Cannot emphasize enough that I've been to these parks all this season (except Wonderland and cga) I'm only ranking this year's overall park experience. CP is having a nightmarish season... All of these issues might not be the parks fault, but it's certainly not the paying guests fault. If for nothing else, it's an encouragement for people to travel and judge for themselves.

    Shivering Timbers is a phenomenal coaster. MI Adv. was on its ways to biting a piece of cedar points pie when the owners of Cedar Point called the head office and said shut them down! Head office took a look at the beginnings of a massive park experiencing more than its fair share of success near the lake beach and sand dunes and popular vacation city and bought michigan adventure to make sure it never became a major threat. You can connect from both sides of the lake by the way via the train. 🚂 Fantastic park to visit as long as one understands their visiting a more laid back park. Great attached water park. I recommend the RV park across the street ‘Duck Creek’ - they have very nice ‘cabins’ to rent and the property has tons for kids to do as well including large indoor/outdoor pools - massive adult hot tub - lazy river - water slide - lake - bouncy pillows - arcade - ice cream etc.

    Kings Island for sure.. for now. CP is too stressful with popularity level, and rides breaking down, and very tempermental weather.. it offsets the ride quality/ novelty a bit. KI #1 CP#2.. Maybe #3 if KD and Carowinds get just a bit more.. CP's challenges are harder to rectify. Love your insight on the mid tier parks though! I haven't gotten out to any of this yet unfortunately. I will say though, i dont think the iron menace jerk is uncomfy at all.. but I dont think we can dismiss it as " its a small plot at a high speed!" Theres plenty of tight, fast rides that provide smooth transitions. This is just another moment of B&m having a slightly jerky entrance to the brakes... but hopefully its like Raptor and doesnt cause extra wear and tear (which I think theyll be fine) Just like TT2... just cause a shake/ jerk isnt painful.. doesnt mean its "good" lol
