Thanks for making this video! it has been a great help. ran into the same problem on a friends 6.7 Never seen this before but dont work on these all the time.
Before this happens to you...and with a CP4 its just a matter of time.....check out SPE disaster prevention kit with Exofilter. The kit limits the metal generated by a grenading CP4 to an approximate 13 inch section of hose. Not cheap but waaaaay cheaper than the estimated $12 to $16ki price to R&R the entire fuel system. And I do mean the entire system.
I have same problem with my truck thank you for your videos
I know this is an older video but im stumped and could really use your help if you have time and are willing.
Absolutely willing to help. If you have Facebook message me on the Cincy Diesel Repair page.
@cincydieselrepair6893 I sent you a message a couple of days ago on your Facebook page. I may not have the right page.
We should be putting a powerful magnet on the oil pan to hold those metal bits so they dont go into the pump
Pulled 30k each day? Which rear diff ratio? If a 3.73 isn't 12,950 pounds max, and 4.11 about 19,900 around max trailer weight? How did you go over the scales? Just wondering. Am I missing something? Thanks!
When you change the ebp sensor change the tube that goes to it. It gets clogged up also with exhaust sut.
When this video started I figured it was the Exhaust back pressure sensor. No one ever changes them and sometimes they are as old as the truck itself. Alot of people dont even know it's thier. 🙄
I pulled a icp sensor code, changed it and now the dang thing went even stay running and i have a mass air flow sensor code, cheap obd reader.
Check the wiring harness to the ICP sensor. Oil will get pushed through the pigtail into the harness causing a short. You can buy the pigtail and replace it
@cincydieselrepair6893 replaced it, the part came with one. I'm thinking brake cleaner wasn't the smartest thing to spray on the plugs while they where undone, maybe the oil pressure sensor got some on it? Would that effect an electrical connection
@@cincydieselrepair6893 or the sensor right below the icp on the back of the motor sense it is an early model 04
So what happened with the head gaskets. Didn’t see another video on your page. My 2018 is blowing coolant fom the cap, but only when its hot and i push it. Gonna get that test kit and check that. Ive replaced the cap and it hasn't helped. It doesn't get hot.
The heads were so badly warped that it was causing pressure in the cooling system.
mine with 400.000 on it failed poped off 3 pushrods
I'm currently stuck. So I decided to get a bite to eat while diagnosing this issue. I try this as soon as I'm done. Don't feel like getting towed. Thank-you.
I have this problem with my 2003 6.0. My truck doesn't have the wrench icon on the dash like the one you're working on.
But the check engine light is on
To pull the injectors just flip the hold down then slide it back under the injector and hit the hold down and they will pop right out
Injector failed
Where are you lacated man?
I'm in Bethel Ohio
@cincydieselrepair6893 darn it. I'm in nc and I need this done. Just a bit intimidated since it's my first diesel. My truck leaks a bit of oil as well. Could this be the cause of the oil leak too? (Have the hot stall/no start)
Crazy I’ve had the same problem but I’ve changed my ipr now it won’t start after driving it. So now my next stop dummy plugs and standpipes for surely
You the man.
I don’t get a wrench until I drive. Then the sputtering starts.
Need the TLDR
What is TLDR?
@@cincydieselrepair6893 Too Long Didn't Read
You do this like it’s just another walk in the park. I drive a 2016 6.7 ram and would love to be able to do all my work because finding a good honest person is tough.
I have an 06 81k milea. It started to have no throttle response and then when i park it. try to start it back up crank no start . Let it set starts back up sometimes and runs good. This morning crank no start after sitting over night. I traid it about 10 min later fierd up runs fine. No wrench light . Has an egr deleat but still has egr sensor and check engine light because of tht egr delete. Any advice?
That's sounds to me like a leak in the high pressure oil system or possibly a you are loosing sync between the cam and crank signal. Even though the lights not on there could be a ghost code so it's worth having it scanned. After that you really need to check the data. Check high pressure demand compared to actual to see if there's a leak in the high pressure oil system. Usually they crank no start after warm up is a blown o-ring on a standpipe or dummy plug
@cincydieselrepair6893 thank you vary much for the fast response.
Hey brother thanks for the video. Can I bring my truck to you? I need head gasket done. Did the fluid test and i have a combustion leak, coolant out of the exhaust.. what’s the best way to reach you?

great video!
Wow, what a complete video ,Reminds me of Ron the Dieseal Machanic. Question, My son and i Bullet proofed my 2004 F 250 at 54 K, all the new stuff .. High pressure oil pump at 75 K Plus a program box We didnot replace the Standpipes, never thought about that. Now, when its below 40 degrees it want start without plugging in the glow plug wire for about hour. It has 155 K miles runs like a top except during hunting season when it cold. Do you think i need to replace the OIl Rail Ball tube seals, I'm just an old 79 year dude that likes to work on stuff.. Thank you so much,, SE TExas
Thank you for the kind words. I can assure you that a cold start problem has nothing to do with the high pressure oil system. Those trucks will not turn on the check engine light for bad glow plugs. If you have someone scan the truck it'll probably show you have some bad glow plugs. Recommendation all my customers is to go buy 8 Ford glow plugs and the wiring harness for each side. It's not that expensive.
I changed glow plugs at 57 k , with all Ford parts all my part are Ford. Someone just told me it was the old type stand pipes ole rings . Thanks again .
@sterlingdavidgrasssr bad stand pipes or o- rings in the high pressure oil system will only cause a hard start when hot problem because the oil is thinner and can bypass the cut in the o-ring. I will guarantee if you are having a hard start when cold issue then something has gone bad in the glow plug system. Glow plugs do not last long in these trucks.
Ok it must be the glow plugs , I’ll get my son to test them with his machine .. thank you so much ..
Ive got a hot no start condition right now, this video helps A TON. Will be attacking it this week.
Thank you for the good explanation. I just got the same code and my truck cranks but it doesn’t start. Now I know what to check for. Keep the excellent work. 💪💪💪 God bless you
I lost my pedal yesterday and stopped. Truck was idling fine. Shut it off and now it wont start. Its a 99 7.3 manual. Any ideas? Would this sequence you did be the same for my 7.3?
On a 7.3 most likely the crank sensor went bad.
@@cincydieselrepair6893will the crank sensor give you zero throttle pedal?…my ‘03 F250 7.3 starts and runs fine but the “gas pedal” doesn’t rev the engine…what do you think?
No the crank sensor won't do that. Either the micro switches in the fuel pedal have gone bad or you have a communication problem between the pedal and the IDM
What happens if you wire up the vgt backwards?
I have never tried but I'm going to guess it won't work or it will work the same.
Just pulled mine apart today. Got both heads off. Found 2 lifters broken. The roller rocker is missing the wheel completely. Haven't checked the cam yet. Broken plastic guide. Not sure what caused it but man this is a terrible design flaw. My bottom end is new less than 3k on it. Now this happens. Did yours end up needing a cam?
REALLY HELPFUL..THKS..
My truck has this problem will it cause it to die as well?
Yes it will.
@@cincydieselrepair6893so mine is a 2004 its not that i dont have throttle but i have very little throttle and it stops after 8-10 minutes of running
Are you getting the wrench symbol on the dash?
This might be dumb question but that wouldn’t cause no pre clatter?
BONE STOCK equals a long service life!! Stupid kids...
I’m having the same issue, I unplugged the EBP light went away , pedal returned BUT, I drove it 2 blocks unplugged and wrench came back and I lost the pedal. Back to the drawing board, please help
The reason it came back on is the computer realized it's unplugged. Unplugging it only good for figuring out which sensor it is. The computer will pick up certain sensors that are unplugged and go back into limp mode. You can try plugging the sensor in starting the truck and unplugging the sensor but you'll probably only get a few more blocks before the computer goes back into limp mode.
Thanks for the directions truly appreciate it
Need IDS to remove FICM equalization
Haven’t ran across that yet but I’m sure it’s a matter of time. I love what my 6.0s and 7.3 trucks will do but gosh damn the 6.0s have been giving me hell lately.
The newer generation powerstroke, the more money it's going to cost in repairs. That's just leaving the 6.4 out of the subject. The newer generations are also so much more comfortable and quite than the first.
Super interestng and loaded with a lot of info. I have the same model. Near all OK. It has the I think "P2290" and leaks a lot of oil. I could deal with this. But I don*t want to. Even at running I don*t get the ICP above 1800PSI. What would be Your 1st "suspect"? All good M.
This I like. Bad camera work, no "fancy" intro, no time intensive editing, but information where it is possible to work with. Thank You for uploading. M.
Thank you for watching. I hope I was able to help.
Give the engine a little bump, it should lower the piston and you should see the hole top of the piston. And the cylinder wall. Or a valve is stuck open.
I have a ford e450 it run, but suddenly stop then I stare and running again then about 10 miles stop
It sounds like you have a bad cam or crank sensor. I would start by replacing the crank sensor and check the wiring harness and pigtail. Are there any engine codes?
@@cincydieselrepair6893 where are you,I lived in Little Rock AR
You just saved my butt with this compression test video. I almost traded in my Hummer for a used 64 and now no because of you that the 6-4 I was looking at has no compression on a number 3 cylinder. Thanks a million
I'm really happy to hear this! Do yourself a favor and stay away from all 6.4s
Any suggestions on what to do when you have an injector that is stuck in there and doesn't wanna come out ?!
I tried using the same tool and the hold down bolt tends to want to bend slightly and the injector isn't budging I can spin it side to side but I can't seem to pull it out or pry it out either
Is there potential engine damage in that cylinder that could have mushroomed the injector tip?
Things been kicking my ass for the past 3 days lol, Any suggestions on how I could get that last injector on the passenger side out. Room is tight which sucks to get any good leverage on or is there some sort of tool that would be strong enough to pull it out that won't bend possibly
Did you try flipping the hold down upside down and tapping it with a hammer. If I couldn't get it out with the tool or using the hold down up side down trick then I think I would pull the head because there is something else going on.
I have a 2007 6.0 that someone didnt take back in during a recall on the HPOP rear fitting. It came with a 2 piece fitting and was supposed to get a new one piece fitting. Never happened. Truck running bad. Turbo wouldn't spin up. Replaced turbo. No High Pressure oil. Engine full of glitter. Ground off lobes on camshaft. I kust parked it. Still have it. Need to take block in and have it gone over first. Any way to tell if the HPOP on that one was recalled or replaced?
The only real way to be sure is remove the HPOP cover and look at the fitting. You can visually tell the difference. Let me see if I can find a picture.
It won't let me attach a picture but Google 6.0 powerstroke HPOP fitting upgrade. You will find a great article by XDP Diesel that shows the difference.
@@cincydieselrepair6893 Thank you but I already did that. Guess I wasn't clear. How do you know if that 6.0 you are working on has the right fitting?
I don't. I always recommend to the customer checking if I'm in that area working. I've been working on these trucks since they came out and I can tell you I've only had a handful of customers ask me to check that fitting. Usually people don't want to pay the extra labor cost.
@@cincydieselrepair6893 I understand. This was my first Ford. I've accumulated a lot of new parts for this engine. Cam is shot so I'm assuming the crank is too. Off to the machine shop for me. 😑
So if its not the o-rings, what would you have looked at next?
Did you remove, clean and retorque the fuel tubes?
@@cincydieselrepair6893 I torqued them with a torque wrench when I put them in. I fired up the enginuity and actual and desired rail are almost the same. The duty cycle is between 2-6% except when I rev it which it goes to 99.99. Does this still sound like the fuel tubes?
I think I would be looking at the fuel control actuator on the pump. There might be a function in there where you can demand the FCA completely open or completely closed.
Thanks
Thanks for letting us know that I have what to do.😢
mine is leaking bad at first i thought it was the rear main
