I also think the car scene is the most shocking scene but because it was different in the book. In the book Conrad didn’t say a word in the car. He was just sitting there looking out of the window. And then having him do a 180 in the show was very jarring! I hated it the first time watching but now I love it. 😊 thanks for the episode! You both had really good picks!

Just catching up on this episode - can you tell me where the scene is you refer to when Conrad is outside the door and overhears Jere and Belly talking? I can’t find it! TIA!

So what I gathered from this episode (esp. flashbacks) was, Conrad comes over to Boston house, talks to Jere about Belly. Jeremiah is clearly uncomfortable about the whole thing, he doesn't want to talk about it, especially considering the current situation, and the fact that he was still hurt with what happened over summer. But Conrad sort of opens up (different interpretation of this based on what camp you're in), about wanting to be with Belly, and being in love with her (don't remember him telling her that at all, or maybe he does but they didn't show us), and walks away as soon as Jere gives the green light (it felt like yup! I got my green light, I'm outta here). Now, if we go back to flashback of S2E1, that happens clearly after this. Conrad knows Belly has set boundaries, and the only way to circumvent that was by talking with Jere. But the weird thing is, he goes to Belly and becomes disingenuous about how Jere was feeling with all of this. Tells her Jere is doing great, he's going on dates, he's over you but I'm not (this is where I lost any sympathy I had for Conrad). He outrightly dismisses Jere's feelings & lies to Belly. Cut to the next stage i.e., Thanksgiving, where he brings Belly over, parades her as his "GF", in front of Jeremiah, holding hands, being all cuddly (this scene now explains the outburst of Jere in the flat tire scene, where he says: "everybody expected me to act like I was fine, but I wasn't). First watch, I was bit annoyed at Jere for having that little dialog about not wanting to be there if Belly was there, but second time I completely understood his position. The point is, it showed how much Jeremiah was struggling with all of this, and how hurt he was. Belly started to understand the gravity to which she'd hurt him.

Hey I totally love your podcast. I have re-watched TSITP about a dozen times. I started searching for a podcast to listen to while I re-watch it and yours is the best. So I know this episode of your podcast ran a while ago but I just listened to it today. And I wanted to make one random comment. I don't think that the song Sweet Child of Mine playing has any significance to the Kids characters, I think it was just the song playing on the ride. Any small cheesy amusement park that are worth going to only play hardcore 80's music on the rides. Esp 80's hairbands songs :)

I think Jer upset is natural for essentially the 1st time he sees them be together at Thanksgiving. And, don’t act so surprised he chooses to decline board games. If he is that way forever, then, okay, enough Jer. JMHO
