Conrad has a conversation with Cleveland that he always saw Belly as a little kid, but now she’s not(Season 1, episode5). To me that means that this is also for him the first summer he is starting to realize that he has feelings for her, just like Jeremiah. I think the feelings started gradually before that summer for both of them. They just realized them that summer. And don’t forget that Conrad is the oldest so the parents also put more pressure on him to watch over the younger kids. Just like when his dad said to him (something like) “why did you let her drink so much” at the 4th of July party.
#TeamJess and #TeamPacey! Vicky is my ship twin 😂 And I gotta say, I completely agree that Conrad loved Belly before she became “pretty” 100%. I think there’s so many clues hinting at the fact that there were feelings there on his side also. Maybe he didn’t realize it or acknowledge it for what it was until later, but I think he definitely loved her way before Jere started noticing her in that way. The hand holding in the tent as kids could have been completely innocent or even just a fleeting moment that Jere might have shrugged off quickly, who knows.
I agree with you that I think Conrad might've had feelings before Jere. When it comes to the hand holding in the tent I think it has to mean something or they wouldn't shown it they way they did. Now it might've meant more to Belly in that moment then Jere because when he asked her in season 1 if she ever thought they could be more she said yes and right after the handholding flashback they both extinctively grabbed for each other's hands and in that moment I think Belly's feelings for Jere came rushing back.
I just started listening to the podcast so I’m not sure if this was discussed but I’m curious what your thoughts are on how memory/ reliable narration are handled in this story. Belly has that memory of the puppy they found in book 3 and she thought Conrad was the one who cried when they had to give it back but that was Jeremiah. Then we have Jeremiah saying in s2 that Conrad never paid attention to belly before but we see from the flashbacks that he did. Then later in the season he says he doesn’t really remember the prior summers, he’s forgetting things making him unreliable as a narrator. Then lastly, they repeatedly said that Conrads focused, pays attention to detail & remembers everything. Seemingly painting him as more reliable. I think Wheel of time, Rings of Power and The Boys are probably bigger hits for Amazon than tsitp but I do think it’s at least in their top 5 and as soon as the strike is over they’d be in a rush to get production started bc they don’t wants to lose momentum or buzz. From what I understand it was mentioned by the cast (I believe Gavin) in an interview that season 3 will be closer to the books. The other comments seemed to imply that the script was already complete bc usually they would’ve started filming by now. I think Conrad loved belly before that summer. He may not have known how to describe the feelings he had but things that he noticed about her & remembered tell me there were some feelings there. (The glass unicorn, junior mint, the infinity necklace were all symbols of his affection)
Being team Jeremiah I do hope Jenny Han switches the ending. I know she's said in interviews that she hates watching shows and knowing the ending or that the books are different then the show. Now I don't think she will but one can hope. I also, think that Jeremiah has grown a bigger following due to the show and last season. Finally, I would love to see an episode next year of Jeremiah, Belly, Steven and Taylor going to the prom. I enjoy your podcasts because you guys can see both aside of the fandom even though your more partial to one said.
Thanks so much for listening... Yes it's important to be objective and objectively there's reasons and room for both boys :) I just want everyone to be ok at the end 😂
So I didn't read the books but I know what happens. In your opinion do you think that Jeremiah fan base has gotten bigger due to the show then the books?
I was surprised that if you were given a chance to interview a cast member Gavin was left out. He is a major player in the series. You only mentioned Lola and Chris. Gavin would be an interesting person to interview I’m sure.
Been listening to y'all on Spotify - glad to see you on RUclips. Thanks for the podcast(s)!

Yesssss definitely. Gavin's wonderful portrayal of Jeremiah and bringing him to life is a huge huge reason that the fan base is so split
i think The Boys is prime’s #1 show tbh but I could be wrong
Idk who is #1 new article I think says TSITP is #2 all time
I was wondering if you would watch my life with the Walter boys?
It’s similar to tsitp

Definitely! And he's a Cowboys fan!
