Glad you stumbled upon my channel. I am a certified Graphic Designer who quit the profession for something completely different in order to flee the "artistic burnout" and crunch culture present in that field.
Currently I assist physically impaired people in their daily life and use my additional leisure time for creative projects both in regards to art and music making. My hopes for the future are that I can eventually switch over to working freelance. Until then I will be figuring out what my artistic goals are and focus on improving my skills.
I hope I can entertain you and provide help throughout my artistic journey.

Colored Pencils over Acryla Gouache? Try Flashe Paint, instead! Swatching & Testing Demo
Просмотров 13 тыс.2 года назад
Ever put Colored Pencils over Acrylic Gouache only to be dissapointed with how it looks? The Results are often times oily strokes with no pigment output, at best you get uneven, dull and muddy colors. Also the colors you put on top have little to do with the pencil colors you picked. If you use Holbein Acryla Gouache, Turner Acryl Gouache or Liquitex Acrylic Gouache you will learn quickly that ...

Is there no need to stretch the paper as like with gouache/watercolour?
I really wanted to watch this but the background music is so annoying, I could not focus on what you had to say :(
the asthetics feel like plastic bubble gum.
31:15 Lightfastness 1 is the HIGHEST lightfastness rating 🤦 PR209 is a very lightfast pigment 😂 One pigment that ISN’T lightfast in the slightest is PR177 which can be found in Moonglow, but there you didn’t mention lightfastness at all even though moonglow goes from purple to turquoise within a year on the wall 😅
You're a natural! And brave too - colour matching and mixing always problematic for me also. I agree about Arches paper (another video...). It feels rough to me as well, almost as though it has a hairy or 'hooky' surface. So many would beg to differ, but each to their own. Thanks 🪷 xx
miss you lots! hope you're well <3
I know I’m late to the party so to speak but I’ve only been doing art for 3 months and I already have about 100 acrylic markers, 30 pastel pencils, 24 charcoal pencils, 8 different sets/brands of watercolours plus gauche and acrylic paint (that was free) about 40 gel pens, fine liners both coloured and black, about 180 oil pastels, water soluble graphite pencils, two sets of standard pencils, couple of hundred water colour pencils (cheap set first now upgrading) 30-40 different watercolour journals/paper, sketch pads, black sketch paper, 10ish sets of oil pastel paper, 3 drawing boards, 2 types of tracing paper that I may never use because I enjoy drawing, paint storage drawers, meeden art storage box with easel, watercolour travel kit, 2 pencil cases and 3 rolls, white markers, rulers, masking fluid x 2, multiple sets of washi tape and masking tape, 4+ sets of brushes, couple of sets of palette knives, books both art and inspiration only, 6 or so empty palettes of different sizes, several mixing palettes, aprons, glue, glitter pens, highlighters, pencil sharpeners, fixative spray and an addiction to Faber-Castell 😂😂😂😂😂 I love watching haul videos (except searching) for every hater there’s 2 that enjoy it ❤
The true waste of paint is not using it.
Thanks for sharing this discovery!! Gonna experiment with Flashe & colored pencils now :)
Hi, Moni! Nice video, thanks for your review. I’d recommend trying Rosa Gallery watercolors instead of White Nights. Rosa Gallery is high-quality, budget-friendly, and made in Ukraine. You won’t regret giving them a try. White Nights, on the other hand, are produced in Russia, and it would be great if sanctions against the aggressor country were enforced in all areas. My hometown is shelled every day, which is why I’m forced to live in Poland. Poland is a wonderful country, but there’s no place like home.
When you're making a pro illustration or intending to sell a piece do you check the copyright of your references?
@@pseudonamed Hey! i am not selling any prints or originals and I don’t plan to do so right now, but definitely make sure you are allowed to use references stock images that are free to use (e.g. pay for a license or get written approval).
Ok thanks for the advice, makes sense
This is a beautiful piece. ❤
Any three of the greens or lavenders
I prefer Arches Hot press. Though that its still not very smooth, it feels more like Cold press. The Fabriano is much smoother. I thought it is just me. Both Saunders and Baohong are great. Baohong academy papers are great for the price point
This video got recommended to me again, one year later. : ) One tip is to basically treat it as a really pigmented matte acrylic instead of a medium in the gouache family. Dilute it with an acrylic medium (like a retarder, just make sure it's matte) instead of water. If you like the feel of Holbein Acryla but don't like how “sticky” it feels (I personally think it's “runny”), Turner makes acrylic gouache that's more viscous. + Cheap synthetics works well with them. If they get ruined, they're easily salvaged because I can peel the paint off them somehow, and if cannot be saved anymore, they're cheap to replace.
Hey iv recently came across your channel and gutted that you stopped posting! 😢 but may I ask what style of art this is?
idk if this channel is done but i wanted to mention i think it’s worth it to keep going. best to you🌸
Never say “i won’t buy any art supplies”, always put away money in your budget every month for buying supplies. Just like groceries, living expenses, savings, retirement, art supply fund. Then you have no guilt and everything is in line. Sometimes you’ll save up your art fund a few months to get supplies, no worries. 🌸
Hey if you pay ur bills, have a 6 month emergency fund, and invest 15-20% of ur income for retirement, who cares what you spend the rest on??
Vulcano Red is so nice! Not the best for sure but… ( it’s not that wonderful Rhodonite or Mayan Blue or Deep Dea Blue) it doesn’t deserve bad words 😂
beautiful artwork, even if I'm living in the past right now :)
Miss your videos, Moni!
Ooh interesting discovery! Does the gesso dry matte like the acryla gouache or shiny like regular acrylic?
Such a fun video - thank you! Could you please share which sketchbook you used to swatch your colour pencils in please?
I like them both but tend to lean towards Turner because they are half the price of Holbein in the US. Your video says Turner dries slower than Holbein and and there are others that say it dries faster. I add both Golden's Acrylic Retardant and a couple drops of water in both and use them interchangeable on a stay wet palette so I am not sure because I really don't notice a difference.
The price of that paper and those colored pencils had me freaking out lol. You're so fortunate. Those pencils look AMAZING. I think I'm gonna do a search of ppl coloring with them.
I recommend getting a few
Ugly stage? Clashing? What are you talking about; I thought it looked beautiful at every stage! But I guess your opinion is the one that matters most here. 😊
Interesting video . Thank you
this is the kind of relatable content I am looking for lol. I didn't know this was an issue for other people! I'm curious to know if it has to do with elevation change during shipping or something. who knows. cheers!
Moniiii!! :) Time to rewatch your amazing videos! Sending you the purple and indigo huggles! 💜💜💜
I mixed my acryla gouache with flashe paints to get the colored pencil to lay over the acryla gouache since I had a ton of tubes of holbein. I mostly use white or paynes gray depending on the color. I doesn't work for all colors but I'm not wasting paint
I haven’t seen any videos from you for quite awhile so I came to check. I hope you’re well and enjoying life rather than sick. Bless.
Art is a journey. theres no wrong or right way of doing things. its just you. each peace is apart of you. we all go through comparing ourselves with others. but that keep us from being who we truly are. Dont be afraid to show who you are dont be afraid to be just you. you have a community who love do what you do.
I just found your channel. I hope u upload more. 😢😢
Same here with the brushes :-/ I've wrapped mine with washing tape.
12:39 😂❤
21:30 only found the video now. I completely agree with this about the WNP colours. Sp disappointed with the streaky colours, hopings some other brands have better ones.
are you coming back to youtube?
This is fantastic! I see that you aren't really posting videos anymore, but I am going to subscribe just in case. I definitely needed that message. Just yesterday, I painted a piece that I almost threw away! Then, I looked at it after it dried and realized I really liked it and it might just be my greatest job yet! You definitely have to give yourself grace when you make art. I hope you post more!!
I highly recommend using the volcano red and orange to mix your own DIY schmincke shire and desert colors! I recommend Kim Crick’s video on those 3 sets to see how you can use up the volcano yellow and red since you dislike them. I’m sure you could also use the desert orange to make your own supergranulating colors 😊. I personally like all of them 😂
Can you mix them with regular gouache in your experience please ?
I did that and you might, but I would absolutely not recommend it, because Acrylic Gouache dries much faster. If you mix them on the palette the acrylic polymer binder will dry faster than the gum arabic in regular Gouache and you will have lots of gooey clumps! Acrylics once dry can not be dissolved. When painting in layers the Gouache part will rewet whereas the acrylic part would not. Muddy colours allover. I don’t do it. I would paint over Gouache with my Acrylic Gouache in a thicker layer sometimes, but still you will have the colour underneath dissolve a bit. Again, this can look messy especially if you like crisp edges and clean solid blocks of colour. Turner Acrylic Gouache is the only one to my knowledge that is designed to be diluted with water so if you are really eager to mix both mediums I would do it with the one from Turner. Hope this helps
Is this an art channel or just buying stuff and reviewing?
Can I use liquitex guoache on wood, or liquitex heavy body would work
Hey! Sorry for the late response. I used Liquitex Gouache on wood and ceramics without any issues, the finish is flawless. Hope this helps
thank you.@@MoniDmajor is goauache more pigmented than the heavy body. I tried the heavy body on thich paper, but not too impressed
Oh wow,I bought the volcano set with 3 colors and all 3 of them are beautiful,I wanted to buy the volcano yellow in a single tube,I have the feeling only the big set is shitty
I'm still so sad that I sold the rest of my haze set,I didn't even fill the half pans to the top😕 at that time I didn't know It was the most expensive set of all and sold it to cheap🫤
Really interesting to see how you work and hear how you feel about your art! I was really inspired by the choices you made painting this piece. Especially the hints of coral and how they work with the other colors here, really enchanting. Also the choice to portray patterned historical clothing was really cool! Also I especially love how expressive the face is ❤️ It's an interesting mix of emotions and has me curious what she's thinking of, or looking at here. I feel like she's exhausted but in a way that makes me feel like she's not defeated but has lots of resentment and fire lurking under that fairly calm expression. Btw, the lack of confidence you talked about, and the standards you set on yourself - definitely resonated with me. Btw listening to you talk of your lack of confidence felt kinda bizarre because to me you are actually one of those artists that has me feeling inferior! Even though I try to say to myself that I don't need to be able to do the same things you can, as we all have our own unique artistic styles and strengths, and that variety in expression is what makes art so magical. I like so many different kinds of artists and genres, and could not decide which one is my favorite even if my life depended on it 😅!
Haha I'm all for the wild effects so when you remarked on the pigments separating when you used white gouache, I was literally going "ooooh ❤" exactly when you stated "this sucks!" 😂 Every artist really is different.
