Here is a mini review of my latest Haul (after experimenting and painting): YAY: Talens Gouache. Why? 3,50€ for a tube of very opaque, on the thicker side consistency Gouache is perfect for me, who tends to have too much water on the brush / work from thin too thick. Because it’s so thick (I don’t find it sticky) I do not overdilute it and have more control! From all the cheaper Gouache (in my Country anyway) this is the best one I ever tried. Not as good as Holbein, Schmincke or W&N but for half the price it comes close. Finally I found the perfect Gouache for just studies, sketchbook works. When materials are too pricy I feel too precious about them and I am not going to use them in messy sketchbooks, though I still want to use something that performs well. This was my expectation for this Gouache and it is exactly what I wanted ❤️ Derwent Lightfast: They are a dream! Second best Coloured Pencil, maybe even on par with Luminance. Never thought they would be THIS good! NAY: Derwent Coloursoft… they are not great. Good for just one layer in your sketchbook. Hard to layer, don’t feel that soft, not a fan. Agave Paper: Not a great Watercolour Paper for me. Why? It makes the colours look very dull when dry and I tend to move the pigments too much on this paper (the water sits on top, more so than with hotpressed paper). Moving paint is awesome but this is too much, I feel not in control. Hope this helps!
It’s so relieving to see I’m not the only person who can’t resist new supplies! My watercolor collection has grown so large it’s unnecessary but i just love colors hehe 😅 as long as it makes us artists happy, I say let us have all the colors of the rainbow at our brush tips 🌈 Also, love that shade of nail polish!!! I actually collect vintage nail polishes as a self care hobby, so I’m curious to know which color you have and which ones are your favorite to wear? And as usual thank you so much for the calming vibes, it was such a joy!!!
My buyer's guilt will never disappear, but every time I hear pewople are as crazy as me about art supplies I feel so much better, so thanks for making me feel better ❤️! About the nail polish, the only brand I use is Essie, their quick drying ones :) I may not wear nail polish at my job so I need it to dry quick and go off easily. The colour in this video is "Go Ginza"! Unfortunately their colours disappear after a few months (probably to encourage collecting) 😂 I have so many now and I love that you collect vintage polishes! Super glad you enjoyed this haul btw
@@MoniDmajor Oooooh your an Essie girl too!!! That’s my favorite brand, the one I collect vintages of!!! Stephanie, Peters Art is an amazing store and indeed the one I buy Holbein things from. It's my favorite Art Supply store of all time :) Sadly, the paints are sold out there every time I check.
Hello dear friend 💞💞💞💞🌹 I am enjoyed your watching video. Thank you for sharing the wonderful video ☺️☺️☺️ great video 👍. I really like this video. May God bless you and all time happy your life ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ all the best for your life ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yay!!! I was so happy to see a video from you pop up!! So, I grabbed a bunch of different brands of gouache to see which I like best, and Royal Talens won. They're my favorite, easily. I'm so excited to see what you make with these!!! 😍😍😍

I'm a lifelong Derwent fan, I have a vivid memory of going into an art store around age 9 to buy the full set of Derwent Artists pencils for school. 30 years later, I'm still buying Derwent.
Wow, that’s one crazy haul! It was good to feel the joy of new materials vicariously through you… I gotta say I’m very interested in the Freshe vinyl paints, I’ll have to try it in the future… 🤔 Oh, and I’m also curious about the Derwent Lightfast pencils. I got myself the full set of 100 a couple weeks ago and love them! Looking forward to hearing your impressions and seeing what you will do with them in the future! 😺
Sigiriston, huge Dark Souls fan here as well! Only started last year but I am addicted (and almost done with my second playthrough, Dex Intelligence build this time) 😄 Thank you so much for your awesome comment! Luckily I can say this haul was a success! Only the White Nights tin palette ain't too great, and Derwent Coloursoft are alright but they don't blow my mind. I LOVE both Derwent Lightfast and Derwent Drawing! That's an amazing set you got there, wishing you lots of fun with it ❤️ Thanks so much for your comment!
@@MoniDmajor whoa praise the sun 🌞! You’re one of us hahaha Yes Dark Souls is amazing and at some point I want to start working on art pieces from the game or inspired by it… I started drawing and painting only ~2 years ago so I’m still a beginner with lots to learn… I can say that it’s been a great journey so far! Kinda like Dark Souls in that it’s both challenging and rewarding! And yes, the Lightfast pencils have been really amazing so far… love how natural the color palette is in general, and how many greens and earth tones there are - just incredible for nature in general. I’m wishing you have a great time with them as well! Cheers! 😺
What an amazing haul! I really love your color choices. I've been super interested in the Flashe paints and the granulating White Nights paints. I bought myself the Derwent Drawing set for christmas and I love it! I think Derwent Drawing and Caran d'Ache Luminence might be my favorite pencils with how soft and creamy they are. Looking forward to see how you like and use all the new loot!
N1MH, I'd love to hear what you think of Flashe paints in case you snag them! I recommend to start out with a tube of a convenience colour for testing first, can't wait to see the beautiful art you create with them ❤️ Derwent Drawing are very buttery and I love it, so cool you got the set for christmas. Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed the video :)
Watching other people's hauls while waiting for my orders get me so so excited 😍 I got the Derwent Lightfast in an art subscription box, and unfortunately they are the Best pencils I've ever tried so far 😩 it's unfortunate for me because they don't sell open stock where I live 💔 I hope you enjoy them as well 💖 You can never have too much of a color you love 👏🏼👏🏼 I just adore indigo when it comes to gouache just beautiful, on it's own or when you add white 💙 Congratulations on the new pretty supplies and I hope you have fun with them 😍💖
Oh no! Too bad it’s hard to get your hands on the Derwent Lightfast! I like them a lot, I gotta play some more with them but they might be a competitor to my beloved Luminance. Thanks btw, I feel less like a weirdo about my Indigo obsession now 😜 Fingers crossed your orders will arrive very soon and super glad this video got you hyped! 💕
WELCOME to the Indigo cult! Don't worry, you are not alone, I use it too much as well XD Glad to see you back with another beautiful video. All the supplies look amazing, looking forward to see how you like them. I can't thank you enough for your flashe recommendation back then, it was also a game changer for me because I want to layer pencils on top of anything I do. Although the are probably not the same product, discovering Flashe (and a dupe i found that is Maimeri Polycolor vinyl paint) was like finding affordable acrylic gouache in big jars! At least this is how I use them. I mostly work with watercolor (my fav brand is also Roman Szmal) and inks but I have tried the Derwent Drawing pencils and they are lovely and creamy. I can also say that your beautifully presented videos even manage to reinvigorate my interest in my old art supplies, like talens gouache. I have been having them for years but I'm not very confident with gouache yet XD
Hahaha, Magenta INDIGO!!! Glad to be a member of the Cult ;) You know, I was so worried people wouldn’t like Flashe and come at me with complaints but luckily the few who got it are happy with it, and it’s such a relief to hear that you also think it’s a game changer! I didn’t even know Maimeri has Vinyl Paint! See? This is why I love this community. How you feel about Gouache is how I feel about Watercolour btw! I LOVE it, but damn is it hard when you don’t work with it for a while
i do like the toned down colours of the Flash paint 🙂i do think it was Sandy who mentioned the spruce green, but she mentions so many supplies i want too lol
What a haul!!! Nice!! Having only just discovered Roman Szmal (their Potter's Pink is amazing BTW) I think I would cry if they were no longer available. So excited that they will soon offer paints in tubes too!
Oh wow! I didn't know they will release tubes soon! They are really listening to their customers because a store here in Germany (Peter's Art) is selling half pans of Roman Szmal now! I wanted to get their Potters Pink, but it was sold out ;)
a really nice art haul! i noticed the gouache you got is the same i got in an upcrate box and i barely used it so now i wanna try it again =D i have the agave paper too in a very small size that fits in my hand, im gonna see how i like the gouache on it =D thanks for the video :) edit: i also have the green shadow from whitenights, my first and so far only color i have from them but i love using it!
Haha, this happened to me too! I watch a Haul and then I'm like "wait a minute, I own this product"! Makes me excited to play with it again 😄 I will do a mixed media Portrait on the Agave soon, probably today, and I also can't wait to see how it takes watercolours, Gouache and Coloured Pencils. Super happy you enjoyed this Haul, thanks so much for watching, Firb ❤️
Love the haul 😊 The Derwent barcode leaves a sticky gum when you remove them but I got mine off with eucalyptus oil. Hope this helps. Waving from Australia 🇦🇺
Greetings to Australia!! So glad you loved it! And thanks for the eucalyptus oil tip. In the meantime I managed, I used a hairdryer on the lowest heat level and the barcodes came off without the sticky gum 😀
Haha! PJ, that’s just for the video ;) I needed space in my desk there, usually it looks differently, you can see the mess on instagram, I can’t keep things tidy while creating ;)
Interesting! Do you have any idea what Lefranc & Bourgeois Varnish you would use on paper, after finishing a work to give the piece some extra layer of UV protection ect?!..
I was looking at the box like…… I could just hug it because I know what’s in there. And then you hugged it😂😂😂😂 I was like YES!!🥰🥰🥰🥰 You really can’t go wrong with derwent there pencils go from super soft to hard and everything in between. I love derwent 💕
I just had to hug it!! Later I saw the footage and thought it’s silly but it just really came naturally to me, it’s what happened so I left it! Haha, so cool you can relate 💕💕 Art Supplies just give me so much joy 🥲 And oh god, yes, I LOVE the Derwent Lightfast! I think I want more now. Nooooooo
I agree, Derwent Lightfast exceeded my expectations, and same goes for Talens Premium Gouache! The pigmentation is insane, I do not regret getting them! And I will gladly share with you when I get new things, it provides me so much joy watching Hauls, seeing all the goodies and the joy, so I’m glad you enjoyed this video! Thank you so so much!
Hey, your fellow Russian artist here! First of all, I've just recently found your channel and already in love with your videos! Your voice is soo soothing and relaxing, it's so nice to listen to you and watch your creative journey! It's really nice to see someone dealing with insecure, about finding their own voice in this large amount of "ideal" art (I mean your previous video! By the way, the drawing you've made is wonderful! It's really resonates in my soul!) And now about this haul! I am familiar with couple of materials you bought, but what surprised me, is the White Nights watercolours! Didn't expect to see this local brand in the video and also I just recently bought myself the granulating set and I need to say, that I'm in total love with it! I haven't used them enough, they deserve so much of my attention, because how wonderful they are and yeah, congratulations! I hope, you will have a lot of fun with them! (also, you handle the russian naming just wonderful, ahaha!) Haven't tried the Derwent colored pencils, but my favourites in general are Prismacolors. I can't say, how pricey they are, I received my set for reasonable (for me) price and I'm in total love with them since, ahah I always wanted to try W&N or Holbein gouache, but Holbein is not selling here in Russia, and W&N prices are biting! So I'm in search of cheaper, but good quality analogue right now. And also the Art Creation sketchbooks are not my cup of tea, and my experience with them wasn't too nice - in my case the paper wasn't good enough for wet medium at all, but was pretty good for markers\pencils, but I hope, yours will serve you good!
And about your question - I think, the loss of gouache paints will be the most heartbreaking for me right now, since I'm kinda in the process of learning this medium and I ned to say, that perhaps it the most wonderful material I've used for now, ahaha
Also, I have4 maybe is something like an annoying question, but I'm really interested, what is the sketchbook you've used for watercolor swatches? I see a lovely texture, and I suspect, that it's something with watercolor paper, but yes, I am grateful in advance if you'll share!
Congratulations with great haul, really glad for you!
Wow, your comment just made my day! Thank you so much for everything! I am glad you found it relatable and refreshing to see someone else struggles with art sometimes. Sometimes it looks like everyone’s perfect and confident and despite being worried of showing my vulnerable side I am glad that I did, because it might help some to feel less odd! White Nights are quite popular and easily accessible here in Germany, which I am greatful for - they are great paints, especially for that price, easy to rewet and super vibrant! I agree with you on the Royal Talens Sketchbooks, the only wet medium I would use in them is Acrylic Gouache as well as traditional Gouache (occasionally and rather fat layers, with less water). The paper I used for the swatches was Hahnemühle Watercolour Book and Moleskine Watercolour Sketchbook. Especially the latter shows off granulation really nicely! Greetings from Berlin and have an amazing day!
Wow you must have gotten a huge bonus 👏. That's quite a haul. Have you been using most of them. I just went on several art supply haul splurges myself. Husband says I have a problem. I agree, so after I buy these handmade watercolors I want, I'm going on a no year spend. I think I have every brand out there anyway and I want to start appreciating them. I didn't have any if the le franc vinyl paint, so I just bought some of them. Are they permanent once dry? I assumed so because you compared them to the acryla gouache. You are right, you get 4x the amount of paint than in holbein or turner, plus you can use pencils on top. I also picked up a few colors of the royal talens gouache. I only had the 8 set.
The flashe paints look interesting 😊 I'd be super sad if Derwent stopped making the drawing pencils. And I also love the art creations sketchbooks. Colours look beautiful on the creamy paper. Have fun with all your new supplies!
Thank you so much! And yes, if you like a matte finish and work in mixed media I can recommend to at least try Flashe Paints! I discovered it by accident (thought it was white Gouache) and I liked it. Then I got a tube of a favorite convenience colour to test some and now I am in love. 😊
Listen...I, too, love indigo and I believe I own a tube or pan in every brand I collect 😂. Also sadly my favorite watercolor pigment, PO48, has been discontinued, and also PR206 which I had only just recently fell in love with, but I made sure to grab a few tubes (in several brands) that should last me.
Madder Lake Brown has been discontinued! Also talens gouache isnt too bad but way weaker than W&N and Holbein in my opinion. Its good to see you back! Love your hauls!
Oh wow, really? I didn't know that. And I agree Talens Gouache is weaker but still a million times better than my stupid Schmincke Akademie Gouache. I really like Talens and glad I got it for Sketchbook work, studies or practice pieces. I am glad you enjoy my Hauls, they are time-consuming when it comes to editing so it's good to hear I didn't waste your time :)
I also love indigo!!! I'm a watercolor artist from Brazil, I have about five or six brands of indigo.....I notice that gouache by royal talens has some binder on top, that normal?
Hello Moni! Just found your channel so will check all the videos! Just a question: can you use in one painting acrylics with gouache and watercolour? Do you think there are issues with this approach? Thank you !
Hey PJ! I remember you from Sketches' Livestream ❤️ I don't use traditional Acrylics, only Acrylic Gouache (the formula is very similar to traditional acrylics btw). I use them with Watercolours, Gouache, Coloured Pencils and Neocolors in one Painting all the time :) You just gotta be mindful of the order of things, Acrylics will seal the paper the thicker you go and watercolours wouldn't adhere to it proper. Usually I start with Watercolours and thinner washes of Gouache and introduce Acrylic Gouache, Flashe Paints and pencils later. Just went to check in my sketchbooks: when you go over Acrylic Gouache with watercolours the pigments would travel to the edges of the acrylic stroke and whatever is left sitting on top looks blotchy, and it would come off as soon as you go over it with a wet brush. I am german and not sure this makes sense and I hope this helps!
Oh I always love your art haul videos :) You do it very well ! And I feel less guilty for having bought tons of watercolors lately ^^ The white nights colors are gorgeous, Horodam super granulation is one of my favorites too. I just bought 2 sets of Qor watercolors (6 tubes each) yesterday, waiting to try this brand now. ;) Did you try them already ?
Oh I still feel guilty! I didn’t have to pay for it myself but it‘s ingrained in me ;) But every time you say „don’t be“ and share your splurge stories, that helps 😆 Oh, my friend sent me 3 half pans of QOR and I am in love! Unfortunately, they are by far the most expensive in my country, Daniel Smith feel like a steal in comparison. Super happy that you got 2 new sets to play with! Have fun and also thanks so much for letting me know that you enjoyed the video!
@@miss_socrates Yes, the two pages there are Flashe paints. Where you can see the dotted line (I also draw this line with my finger) this line indicates this is the Flashe paints I got in this Haul
I find that I don't like any of my watercolors in those art creations books. I don't know if it's because of the paper material or the cream color to the pages. I do love them for gouache, ink, and pencil tho!
I agree with you, watercolours don’t look good in it, they feel very chalky as well. I still don’t regret it because I work in various mediums and pretty much everything else looks great in it!
I actually got Flashe paints because of your video where you talked about them, haha. I have a very similar taste in and requirements for paints so your videos are not good for my wallet 🤣 Still happy to watch this new haul.
@@MoniDmajor Oh no worries, I tend to keep stuff in my shopping cart for weeks before actually buying so I have time to think it over 🤣 I do enjoy the paints. I am used to acrylic and acryla gouache so it was a natural fit. I like that they're matte, and the mixed media capabilities were what sold me on them.
Doriana, have you looked into other vinyl paints by other brands? So sorry this happened to you. Happens to me with US businesses not shipping to Europe all the time.
Haha! Yeah, you can use and mix them together and especially when you paint big Holbein you will run out of quick despite the high pigmentation. I just tried to use colored pencil over Holbein two hours ago and again it wouldn’t hold onto it. I am so happy with the Flashe paints

Wow, that’s one crazy haul! It was good to feel the joy of new materials vicariously through you…
I gotta say I’m very interested in the Freshe vinyl paints, I’ll have to try it in the future… 🤔
Oh, and I’m also curious about the Derwent Lightfast pencils.
You’re one of us hahaha
Yes Dark Souls is amazing and at some point I want to start working on art pieces from the game or inspired by it… I started drawing and painting only ~2 years ago so I’m still a beginner with lots to learn… I can say that it’s been a great journey so far!
Cheers! 😺
@@sigriston Praise the sun! And next time you contemplate buying something: Never hurts to splurge when your days are numbered! Teeeheeheee 😄
Beautiful gouache!
It really is! Thank you ❤️
Ohhhh I am so happy to see you posting again! Time to get tea and get cozy watching this
Awww, I hope you enjoyed your tea! ❤️ Thank you for watching, Liddle Alice!
First video I watch of yours…thank you to the algorithm..so happy to be here! Love the Vibes…Subscribed❣️✨
Yay! Thank you so much! Welcome and I am always super happy to see a new face, especially when they are as kind as you 😊💕 Glad you enjoyed the vid!
So cool 😮
Yay, so glad to see you again ❤️!! (Somehow didn't get notifications on this video and last video)
Lisette, no worries! I am not gone and you can come back and watch if you want anytime :) So glad you stumbled upon the video, though!
Watching other people's hauls while waiting for my orders get me so so excited 😍 I got the Derwent Lightfast in an art subscription box, and unfortunately they are the Best pencils I've ever tried so far 😩 it's unfortunate for me because they don't sell open stock where I live 💔 I hope you enjoy them as well 💖
You can never have too much of a color you love 👏🏼👏🏼 I just adore indigo when it comes to gouache just beautiful, on it's own or when you add white 💙
Congratulations on the new pretty supplies and I hope you have fun with them 😍💖
Jacksons have Derwent lightfast open stock on promotion at the moment, in case you’re interested.
I LOVE it, but damn is it hard when you don’t work with it for a while
Oooo Moni D Major I washed my hair too in solidarity to watch this video…. well not really 😁. Have fun and enjoy your new supplies!!!
Haha Shadow Guard! This made me burts in laughter, almost spilled my paint water 😂😂😂 Thank you so much!
@@MoniDmajor 😁🤣 and you’re welcome!
i do like the toned down colours of the Flash paint 🙂i do think it was Sandy who mentioned the spruce green, but she mentions so many supplies i want too lol
Sandi is such an art supply enabler, I think the Lichen Green I also discovered on her channel 😄
Love her house/studio too!
Hi Moni, such a great haul.
Hi Dianne! Super happy you enjoyed it, thank you!
I wanted to get their Potters Pink, but it was sold out ;)
Loving Charming video thank you for sharing, but man now I'm jonesing to buy some new supplies..the self control is faltering!
Glad you like it, and I feel you! The self control struggle is real when it comes to Art Supplies 😄
a really nice art haul! i noticed the gouache you got is the same i got in an upcrate box and i barely used it so now i wanna try it again =D i have the agave paper too in a very small size that fits in my hand, im gonna see how i like the gouache on it =D thanks for the video :) edit: i also have the green shadow from whitenights, my first and so far only color i have from them but i love using it!
Love the haul 😊
The Derwent barcode leaves a sticky gum when you remove them but I got mine off with eucalyptus oil.
How do you keep things so tidy!!! 😅? Thank you for the video! I will try the talens gouache but totally in love with Holbein acrylic gouache!
And then you hugged it😂😂😂😂 I was like YES!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
You really can’t go wrong with derwent there pencils go from super soft to hard and everything in between.
Nooooooo
Ohhhh, the Derwent Lightfast are my favourite colored pencils

It's really resonates in my soul!)
And now about this haul! (also, you handle the russian naming just wonderful, ahaha!)
Haven't tried the Derwent colored pencils, but my favourites in general are Prismacolors. I can't say, how pricey they are, I received my set for reasonable (for me) price and I'm in total love with them since, ahah
I always wanted to try W&N or Holbein gouache, but Holbein is not selling here in Russia, and W&N prices are biting!
Great haul. I’ve been buying up a stroke lately
Quin Deep Gold is one of my most favorite colours and I too will try to stock up! Good to hear about other Indigo enthusiasts haha 😂
I just subscribed. Indigo...I have a problem !!! 😅🤣😂🎉 Great Content 😊❣️
😂 Rana! So cool you liked this and yes, I’ll gladly have this problem, there’s worse issues to have 😅 Thanks so much for subscribing!
@@MoniDmajor and...thank you for the heads up on that acrylic tip ! 🙃
I am glad you enjoy my Hauls, they are time-consuming when it comes to editing so it's good to hear I didn't waste your time :)
miss you lots! hope you're well
I also love indigo!!!
@@MoniDmajor thank you! And yes that’s how I found you :-) 🙂
Oh I always love your art haul videos :) You do it very well !

@@MoniDmajor also flashes ??
@@miss_socrates Yes, the two pages there are Flashe paints. Where you can see the dotted line (I also draw this line with my finger) this line indicates this is the Flashe paints I got in this Haul
I find that I don't like any of my watercolors in those art creations books. I don't know if it's because of the paper material or the cream color to the pages. I do love them for gouache, ink, and pencil tho!
I agree with you, watercolours don’t look good in it, they feel very chalky as well. I still don’t regret it because I work in various mediums and pretty much everything else looks great in it!
Would anyone know the pigments in the White Nights Hematite Mist watercolor? Love your videos Moni!
At 27:29 pause the video, I wrote down the pigments. PR101 and PB29. Hope this helps!
I actually got Flashe paints because of your video where you talked about them, haha. I have a very similar taste in and requirements for paints so your videos are not good for my wallet 🤣 Still happy to watch this new haul.
I really don’t want to enable people to go bankrupt 😅 Regarding the Flashe, let me know how you find them, I hope I didn’t cause a regret purchase!
I live in the US and have tried to order Flashe paint, but they say it cannot be shipped here. 😢
Doriana, have you looked into other vinyl paints by other brands? So sorry this happened to you. Happens to me with US businesses not shipping to Europe all the time.
👋I know this a few months back, but thought I’d let you know these Flashe paints are available at Jerry’s [no tax] & Blick…price varies. HTH
... and I ordered Flashes 🤫 for greater good to save holbeins XD
Haha! Yeah, you can use and mix them together and especially when you paint big Holbein you will run out of quick despite the high pigmentation. I just tried to use colored pencil over Holbein two hours ago and again it wouldn’t hold onto it. I am so happy with the Flashe paints
New materials mean New Power & Energy or may be a Re Start
