Pump the acrylic markers gently on the paper when they get a little dry. This way they won't splatter colour all over you.

I really appreciate you sharing your sketchbook experiments. I am going through that "making crappy art" phase at the moment with trying out some new styles and most of the time I'm good at remembering this is an essential phase and necessary for growth, but some days I feel so impatient to get to the moment where I'm making things I love again... so thanks for the reminder to stay playful and patient through this important phase.

    • @OhnMarWinArt

I needed this video today 🙏🏻 I already know everything you said, but I needed to hear it once again and let it sink into me. I prepared for INKtober and am challenging me with a subject and style I am not good in yet and it discouraged me so hart to paint the first pictures. But yes, you cannot skip the learning curve, the mistakes, the try’s and the errors. Thank you ❤

Quick question please: how do you decide when/where you will use your Kuretake watercolours versus the Winsor Newton ones? For example, I’ve read somewhere that the Kuretake are a bit more opaque. Hi. Great video. Except you gave me anxiety when you were bashing your Liquitex acrylic markers on the paper to get the paint out 😅 If you put the nib on the paper and just press down the nib goes in and fills with paint. Pump it a couple of times and then the nib should be ready to go. But of course if you love to bash your markers then hey don't let me tell you what to do 😂but if you get finer nibs it might not be so great for the nibs 😁 I love what you do and art haul videos are my favorite so keep up the amazing work! ☺

Lol lol I’m going to try the more gentle technique you mention - I knew there must surely be an easier way. I’m ‘trying’ hard not to buy too much new materials but I’m just too curious

@@OhnMarWinArt I'm the same! So many things to try! But I'm currently trying to 'shop' from my current supply and not spend money but my art store here in Toronto is getting so many new brands that I couldn't get here before so I might still have to get a few things 😅

Have you ever tried pink pig watercolour sketchbooks? They come in lots of different sizes even 6x12 and 8x16

I really like the Strathmore Series 500 Mixed Media sketchbooks. They're great for mixed media. I find the watercolor is too stiff for me.
I thought the abstract art piece was very freeing!

There are a lot of sketchbooks for mix media, and I actually find it difficult to find those that can tolerate a high level of wet on wet, which is how I sometimes like to work with watercolour

Just one little suggestion- if you do an unboxing, don’t show all the materials at the beginning of the video. Part of the fun of unboxing is that slow reveal, where the viewer gets to see each item removed and revealed one by one.
