Cartridge paper is typically called drawing paper in the US. Both are kind of catch-all terms for a higher quality paper made for drawing media. It is thicker and better quality that typical printer paper but not as thick as cardstock. The fudenosuke pens, rather than being different sized tips, they are different firmness. One is a hard tip and one is a soft tip.
Yes please do a video of making bookmarks! I just bought the pad and make bookmarks for Christmas gifts. Would love to see what bookmarks you make and any tips or tricks! Thank you😊
I love your reaction to the hot pink acrylic marker. 🤗 That's how excited I get with supplies in my favorite colors. Beautiful colors! Enjoy your haul. 👍
thx for the video !!! i've been using the bamboo paper , and it's really wonderful.. it holds up to watercolors and gouache , inks as well .. enjoy all your new toys, Ohn Mar 😊😊Norakag, here 👍
So many goodies, I love Tombow markers actually they are my favourite (in Tombow site there's a chart for all the colors which have the names of each one in case you are curious to know the names!) ❤ lovely video Ohn Mar, you make swatching videos so satisfying to watch!
American here. I am not an authority on papers, but I’ve always assumed cartridge paper was like Bristol. I see some people saying it’s like cardstock, which might be true, but I would not equate cardstock to an art-type paper. For me, cardstock is what you put in the printer when you need to print something fancy. Regardless of what it’s called, thank you for another informative video!
Oooo I love a good haul! Thank you ☺️ I'm so interested in acrylic inks right now but so far have only decided on bright green and fluorescent pink lol I think you'd really like Tombow 126 and 133. I highly suggest adding them to your collection. Happy weekend Ohn Mar 😊
Those bookmarks are a great gift idea, off to pick some up! Where is the pencil case from? I love that it stands up right. Thank you for another lovely video. :)
I was confused when I first heard cartridge paper but I think the closest equivalent in the US is just to say good quality, thick drawing paper. I agree with others that the name sounds like it’s just standard printer paper but that’s 80-100 gsm, so considerably thinner than cartridge paper.
I’ve just ordered that cartridge paper from Jackson along with the ProArte brushes. I’ll see how it compares to several of the drawing papers I have and report back some time.
On the Tombow website there is a colour chart which tells the names of the colours as well as their numbers. I enjoy the Tombows as they can be used well with water as well as alone. Their dual tip makes them versatile too!
I’m American and I go by the lb. Wt. 80 lb ,to me would be a type of card stock and therefore, a good quality sketching paper. Anything 90 lb. plus would make a mix media paper and can take wet medium depending on the amount of water; the more water could mean more unevenness. To me, 140 lb & above is paper that can handle wet media best. I like 140 lb hot press watercolor paper but 90 lb is good also for sketching. Thanks for swatching.
Being an American artist, I had never heard of cartridge paper. I have recently been using Seawhite concertina journals with a very different paper than I’ve ever used. I really like it -- such a different texture/ feel from what I’ve used before. Do you know if cartridge paper is what is in the Seawhite sketchbooks? :)
Thank you for letting me/us have another art supply opening experience vicariously through you :-). A question about the pouch you showed at the end - I love that it can be taken out to the field and it stands up on its own like a cup holder would. What is it called and where did you get it (if you don't mind sharing)?
When we put things in printer we usually call it Computer paper that you put in a printer they come in bundles wrapped around 500 pages called reams,I use them alot it's cheaper to buy in ream pkg while on sale usually less than 10.00$ usa its semi transparent and smooth to feel bit thin easy to use eraser on without piling can use marker on it but watercolor would potentially buckle paper ,enjoyed video found it interesting..then theres cardstock which is thicker.
I would call it 80lb sketching or drawing paper. I usually refer to the weight of paper and what it is normally used for, i.e. Sketching, Multimedia, watercolor, or it's composition, i.e. Velum, Bristol board, cotton, hot/ cold press, etc...
Carrtride paper in the uk is not classed as an art paper, it is quite rough and everything sinks into it quite quickky, its normally used in cheap drawing pads as in for kids.its horrible to draw on as its so rough
I don’t think it would help to try to call it something else. I’ve been doing quite a bit of investigation on this and I think that the drawing paper I can buy of about the same weight is the closest equivalent. What we call sketch paper is lighter weight and usually has a tooth to it. The drawing paper I have bought is of a gsm in the range I see on cartridge paper on Jackson’s website and is smooth. I keep thinking I should ask Leslie Stoltz because she’s an American who has worked as an art teacher in the UK, but I haven’t done that yet.
I love your videos, but i beg you: please put the caps back on the pens after use. Otherwise they will dry in a minute. I live in a very dry city, so i got a bit of a trauma 😅😊❤
My instinct is that cartridge paper is the same as card stock for Americans. It’s interesting that neither is common in the opposite country (for the intended purposes at least!). And ooooo to that muted grey liquitex ink - I love that.
2:40 2:49 10:15 I love your gleeful expressions! It is always delightful to see (hear?) artists excited by new supplies.
Art supplies are such a delight for me
@ For all of us! Thanks for sharing your excitement and delight with us 😊.

Thanks so much for this great info. I really appreciate it. I’d never use those pens before so that’s very interesting to know.

Yes so funny I did that too ❤❤❤
I love your reaction to the hot pink acrylic marker. 🤗 That's how excited I get with supplies in my favorite colors. Beautiful colors! Enjoy your haul. 👍
Thank you so much! in the next art hall you are going to see more fluorescent items 🤣
thx for the video !!! i've been using the bamboo paper , and it's really wonderful.. it holds up to watercolors and gouache , inks as well .. enjoy all your new toys, Ohn Mar 😊😊Norakag, here 👍
Good to know - that’s interesting to hear about the different mediums it can handle
Late to the party- just love your videos and Instagram. Thanks for so generously sharing your art and process.
You are so welcome!
The Tombow markers really come to life with water!
That’s really great to know. I am going to try that out.
Love your videos so much. So funny I bought myself almost the same supplies 😂 so it’s good to know what you think about them ❤
Love that - hope you enjoy them as much as I do
So many goodies, I love Tombow markers actually they are my favourite (in Tombow site there's a chart for all the colors which have the names of each one in case you are curious to know the names!) ❤ lovely video Ohn Mar, you make swatching videos so satisfying to watch!
Good to know -i’m going to take a look and make a note of the colours that I have in my kit so that I don’t buy the same one
In Canada we’d call cartridge paper sketching or sketchbook paper. Love your videos!
Good to know!
That's was so relaxing to watch! I love how excited you get with the materials, almost want to buy some of these now!❤
Always love your swatching videos, thanks Ohn Mar
Thanks Louisa-you’ll be pleased to know I did not buy any other supplies in the recent sales. I have not asked Santa for any either LOL.

Thanks for chiming in. I’m really interested to hear all the different theories.

I think you'd really like Tombow 126 and 133. I highly suggest adding them to your collection. Happy weekend Ohn Mar 😊
Thanks so much for the recommendation. I’m going to check out the colours. I’m sure they are very much needed in my collection LOL.
what a wonderful haul, so satisfying ☺
Thank you! 🤗
I’m in Canada, so I call it cartridge paper too. But I also buy pads of “heavy weight drawing paper” that I’m certain is the same.
Thanks for chiming in-I’m starting to think it is just standard heavyweight drawing/art paper
Would love to see more of that bamboo paper in action!
Those bookmarks are a great gift idea, off to pick some up! Where is the pencil case from? I love that it stands up right. Thank you for another lovely video. :)
Where can I get that lovely pencil pouch. Tried looking for one but couldn find. Thank you. Lovely video as always ❤
Trysearch on Amazon for foldable, standing pencil case
Australians know what cartridge is! We've always had it in art shops :)

Okay- good quality drawing paper!
Lovely haul, thanks for sharing! I've never tried acrylic inks, but I own watercolor inks and they look very similar 😮
Thanks for watching! I have some watercolour inks but they’re quite light so it’s difficult to compare
I believe cartridge may be called sulphite paper in the US. It's no where as thick as cardstock.
Thanks for chiming in
I’ve just ordered that cartridge paper from Jackson along with the ProArte brushes. I’ll see how it compares to several of the drawing papers I have and report back some time.
I’d be really interested to know what you think of those products. Please report back.
On the Tombow website there is a colour chart which tells the names of the colours as well as their numbers. I enjoy the Tombows as they can be used well with water as well as alone. Their dual tip makes them versatile too!
I’m certainly going to try them with water now

Where do you get these pencil cases from?
Look on Amazon - called foldable standing pencil case
Amanda Rach Lee has a case that is massive and fits Tombows.
I believe it is called drawing paper in the USA. I didn't know what cartridge paper was either.
I’d like to think it is a standard drawing paper as it is what I used when I was 13 and 14 for art lessons
I would call it 80lb sketching or drawing paper. I usually refer to the weight of paper and what it is normally used for, i.e. Sketching, Multimedia, watercolor, or it's composition, i.e. Velum, Bristol board, cotton, hot/ cold press, etc...
Thats good to know - thank you.
Mostly I use my ABT markers as watercolor
They are certainly handy to have
Hello everyone, although some Daler Rowney products are available in the US, I haven’t been able to find cartridge paper. Does anyone know a source?
This is one of the things I was asking in the video. I don’t think it is called cartridge paper in the USA.
They have it on Amazon US

A lot of people have replied, and I think it’s just standard heavy art paper

Thanks for the tip!

Thanks - cartridge paper might be card stock because I can use light wash over it and it behaves quite well
Cartridge paper makes me think of card stock paper
Good to know
I think in the US we call cartridge paper, cardstock. 🤔
Thanks for chiming in
