As an artist this is a treasure trove, and as I actually collect vintage nail polish, I can completely understand this excitement of finding something older and rarer!
Another thing is that watercolors rarely go bad. Even if they dry out in the tube you can cut the tube open and use them. That is the good thing about water soluble art supplies.
Wow, you got quite the haul! I'm an avid vintage art supply collector, especially anything watercolor. I use most of the supplies I find and swatch out the watercolors. I'll use them in vintage watercolor sketchbooks or paper. Enjoy your new stash of old supplies! Where did you find a lot like this?
That W&N box set was a special one they put out in 2007-ish. (it was one of the first big watercolor splurges for me, so lots of good memories seeing it again! :D)
Omg , here I am again, lol. Love the Winsor and Newton box. What an excellent find! I’m not sure I would not use it though. After that is what it’s meant for.
Love your channel, you are the only one that shows vintage watercolour art supplies! You look like you are ready to start a musuem! I am a fan of watercolour art supplies for a long time but I have never seen some of the things you've shown :) Thanks, subscribed!
Pelikan are student grade, meant for young beginners, but don’t let that hold you back as I know artists who love them and do very nice work with them. I understand from others that they are the best brand for what they are.
Are you in Australia that’s awesome I’m always on the look out for art supplies and rarely find them I don’t use marketplace I try eBay a little bit I recently brought a set of 40 neo color 11 but it wasn’t that cheap I think I got it 20 dollars cheaper than brand new all the tops were worn I wasn’t worried bout that . Maybe I need to go garage shops .. I do try op shops but never find brand name stuff the other day I got a bag of mont morte watercolour tubes I think my 3 year old will like them ..
Yes im in Australia. Marketplace is great for finding good deals. Me and my friend always share listings we find that we know the other one would like. Ive recently got heaps of good stuff for $150au. Worth 7kg of supplies! (12 Coliro metallic sets ($45ea RRP), Mission Gold pure pigment wc paints, heaps of cotman tubes, inktense pans and many more. It was such a good deal. I go to Salvos and find stuff for mix media. I also get ceramic plates from there to use as a mixing palette.
Thanks for this fun video! Lucky you! The Pelikan transparent wc set you you have is one I've had for years and that I call "almost professional." The biggest reason is that Pelikan (made in Germany) does not disclose any pigment info, only state that their paints are "artist quality" and "extremely lightfast." If A maker will not disclose any pigment info used to make their colors, then the paints cannot be rated by authoritative testing and labeled as such and therefore their paints can't be considered to be "artist quality." I have this set, the transparent set and also their "opaque" set, that's kind of like gouache, but they don't call it that. Both sets are excellent quality and "almost professional!" Too bad Pelikan never disclosed pigments used in their painting sets, otherwise they would be a lot more popular! p.s. The transparent set of 24 goes for $50-$60 (these are not cheap paints) and the opaque set of 24 is about $15 - $20 less.
Hello! It might've been mentioned in the video but I didn't catch it so where do you usually do your vintage art shopping? Is that eBay? Thanks for sharing btw! I'm not really a fan of Winsor and Newton but that art box is beautiful!
Hi! Sorry for the late response. I get them from art stores (clearance section), facebook marketplace, estate sale and ebay. Some are really lucky find.

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for this info! I actually almost sold it but changed my mind 😅 Im thinking of doing a lightfast test to be sure.
