Yeah honestly Fresnel lenses are garbage having gone from a Quest 2 to a Quest 3. I wasn't convinced to get a Quest 3 just for better lenses - then I actually tried one out and I was sold. Pancake lenses are so much clearer, almost no Mura, almost edge to edge sweet spot etc. But the biggest change going to Pancake lenses for me has been I now spend a lot more time in VR as I get way less eye strain.

It's supposed to be a upgrade from the quest 2 not the quest 3

I think the lenses also only seem bad if you have the comparison. So personally for me it is not a big problem.

If they go with OLED it won't be $299, or even $649 like the Quest 3 512GB. You'll be looking at a $1000+ dollar headset, which defeats what Meta are trying to do by removing the expense barriers to VR. OLED is a very expensive technology.

@@acurisur I’m talking about the Quest 4 and I’m not worried about about it being $299 personally I’m sure on the next generation they will offer two options No different than what they did this generation one with pancake lenses and one with out. On the next generation OLED for the people who want a better headset and one without. And it won’t be anywhere near $1000 for OL.ED😂. It’s not that expensive. The original oculus rift cv1 had OLED that was back before the quest 1 you must be new to this

Quest 4 will have eye tracking (albeit with fewer sensors compared to the more expensive headsets) If the Quest 4 releases in 2 years then the CPU should be about 60% faster and 3x better GPU wise considering that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 that will be in w flagship android phones already has more than 2x GPU performance than the chipset in the Quest 3 That's PSVR2 level Graphics if they play it right Wider FOV yeah maybe by like 5° but don't expect much of a difference When it comes to weight best they could do is like 50g less if the LCDs were to stay The biggest difference will be in the cameras and the use of AI to optimize the performance I think, considering the amount of MR improvements they've made, the Quest 4 might be the hit they need

@@shuttzi9878 even though I’m not a fan of it I think they may switch to a puck battery. Originally the Quest was supposed to have a puck battery or at least that’s what Palmer luckey wanted. He obviously lost that battle and eventually Meta parted ways with him. Meta is experimenting with this, we recently saw this with the Orion glasses. Andrew Bosworth AKA Bozz has also said he would prefer vertical FOV to a wider horizontal peripheral so we will see. Reality labs have spent a lot of money on R&D So I’m sure they have some tricks up their sleeve. Meta understand the importance of a smaller, lighter, less cumbersome for intrusive headset so it will definitely be smaller and lighter in some way

@@steffendetrick it's better to just remove the battery from the headset and make it into a battery pack like the Vision Pro did, makes the headset lighter and extends the battery life quite a bit depending on the chip Wattage

Just as long as you’ve never looked through pancake lenses before the Quest 3s should be great. 😁 Personally it’s very difficult for me going back to fresnel lenses. I had to do something on the old Quest 2 at my house and it was shocking how bad the lenses that used to look just fine before the Q3 look now.

@@jioxxvr True. That's one of the reasons why I decided not to buy the Quest3-s. The Pico 4 Ultra has the same pancake lenses like the old Pico 4, slightly improved...

So you actually find the Pico 4 Ultra better to use as your main headset rather than the Quest 3? - I'm really struggling deciding between the two :)

@@cusuk366 If you want a bigger choice in stand alone gaming, the Quest is better. But for PCVR both are good. The Pico4 Ultra is more comfortable.

@@noelwhyte9834 No, as of right now MD New Settlement is only available on Quest. The devs do have a roadmap, which is still just improving/adding features/co-op. Some months ago they also added Quest 3 enhancements. If I remember correctly when it came to other platforms like PCVR or PSVR, they mention not leaving it off the table. Although, for PCVR you can purchase the original flat-screen version on Steam "Medieval Dynasty", then inject Praydog's UEVR mod. The quest version is bogged down to run on standalone, with VR mechanics.

No. I don't have the official Oculus Link Cable, but, as the PCVR link cable is a USB 3.2 gen 1 spec supporting 5Gb/s. I did test other cables that meet the requirements and the adapter doesn't connect to my PC or laptop. No data is sent through. Although, connecting SD card readers does work in either port for external drives formatted to exFAT, NTFS, etc. Their are other adapters from KKCOBVR, but reviews say it doesn't work for quest 3. If you need to charge your headset while connected with the link cable INIU link cable is a recommend option I see a lot. It's power injector option. No, great solution to my knowledge still tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can slightly improve the tracking since you mention the flickering issue. Depending on where you live you can go in Quest's settings -> headset tracking and change the tracking frequency from auto to 60Hz if you're in the U.S. or 50Hz for most other parts of the world. Also, turn off hand tracking as still even on 71v collides with controller tracking a year later. But, yeah, the tracking isn't perfect. It might be a first-gen issue with the removal of the tracking rings, but it's still an issue. With Meta wanting to become the next computing platform rather than just a gaming console, it's a compromise for the core gamers demographic. Meta at launch did acknowledge the issue, but it kind of went silent since throwing "AI" in the mix. Also, with Meta set to release a headset with partners like Asus/Lenovo, Zuck teased that support for "all kinds of peripherals and haptics is coming" for a gaming-centric headset using Meta Horizon OS. I don't know if it's new controllers, but it might be the last hope.

@@sixtacos First, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to reply and suggest improvements! :) I did already set it to 60hz (I'm in Canada) - Originally I had hand tracking but since I was holding the sticks I figured it might have been confused to I turned all of that off immediately as well. I am contemplating getting a refund and waiting a few more months for a better alternative... cause even without the handles, its very far from being as good as the cheap Quest 1 i had for a month... so frustrating getting the latest tech and having this massive of an issue... granted, for everything else BESIDE beatsaber its not really a problem... but since its 75% of our playtime, it really sucks :)

Yeah, still holds up a year later. Quest 3 leaning more on relying on computer vision/machine learning tracking techniques compared to Quest 2's IR-tracked system is a compromise for fast-movement games. Quest 3, is better for productivity/ergonomics with removing the tracking rings, but it's a compromise. I also like my fair share of baseball, and a game like Totally Baseball when hitting a pitch with Quest 3 sort of feels awkward. Leading up to the hit the ball with the IMU sensor + tracking algorithms Quest 3 delivers pretty good estimations, but in quick sudden movement, it begins to fall apart. Estimations can only be so accurate until it has to result to the IR sensors to align with the user. I doubt Meta's engineers oversaw this and it might be a first-gen controller compromise they took to make Quest the jack of all trades value-wise.

RIGHT! With Behemoth set to launch in 2024 and I'm over here still waiting for any updates to Retribution. Just thinking about the story makes me tight, and it being an unfixable miss is perfectly put. An enhanced graphical upgrade, DLC, or expansion would be 🤌. I'm sure they'll do it at some point to increase sales, but on Skydance's timeline, it'll be quite a while.

Yep, melee weapons in this game are a huge let down, especially with finishing melee kills. The rhythm mechanic compared to other rhythm games like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, and Smash Drums is less cognitive. At the start I couldn't match the tempo of music to the gameplay. Later on I did, but it felt more flowy.

ASW is all about Implemantation. It's an amazing technology but these devs just were being idiots and rushing the game

AWS doesn’t bother me at all. I’m glad it’s available for games like Vampire Masquerade that would have to have the graphics simplified even further compared to the PCVR version to run on the Quest if it weren’t for ASW.

pretty sure the new batman game runs 45fps ASW and Assasins creed runs 45fps ASW. would be excluding 2 of the biggest games on the platform if they did that. I found Assasins creed to actually feel fine in headset

@@legendp2011 I didn’t like Assassin’s Creed. Nothing to do with ASW though. ASW has been great for the Quest platform overall
