It’s true! Nearly all Hollywood film companies use “readers” to evaluate scripts before spending thousands, and even millions, of dollars on a motion picture.
Scripts are submitted to the companies and the reader is the first person to read and consider the project. Then the reader makes a recommendation to the company regarding the potential of the script becoming a popular movie. Hence, readers are often referred to as the “Gatekeepers” of Hollywood.
The bulk of the work is done online, which means you no longer have to live in Los Angeles to be a reader.

I needed to hear this again, especially in relation to scheduling my day and not convincing myself there's too much to do and I'm overwhelmed. I've been working on this, but hearing you summarize it this way is especially helpful. 💛

Do you have any advice on screenplays that don't conform to official scripted format? Like something that has documentary interviews or stand-up comedy that is selected by the performer in a segment?
You would probably simply make a note to the writer that unless you have a specific performer already on board, it'll be harder to sell to a producer. So far the only place I've seen that in a script was Lost in Translation, which was written specifically for Bill Murray. If you work for a producer, you'll know if it's a dealbreaker for them.
@@humblesparrow I'm the writer of my sitcom and it's an altogether new format. I guess my question more succinctly is, how would an hour episode show of an experimental format be accomplished with a hardline emphasis on screenplay format
Hi, the only honest answer is I don't know. I'm just learner myself. :-) Try putting it online with A.I. tools and see if you can get a following. Producers might pay attention then.
@@humblesparrow If the public is paying huge attention to it how do I get in touch with the producers who want to produce? I wouldn't use A.I. tools to write but thanks for the suggestion. Unless you mean the tools used for the Kubrik movie A.I.
I was thinking maybe using ai avatars to produce a sample. You can also ask chatgpt to suggest the steps involved in finding an agent, etc. I'm just learning myselmyself that's the best I can do for you. All the best!
