  • “It’s a great script, Paul. But it will never sell.”
    Famous. Last. Words.
While writing his heart out, Paul Haggis gave drafts of his screenplays to friends in the industry.
First, he wrote MILLION DOLLAR BABY. And the response? “It’s a great script, Paul but it will never sell.”
Taking their advice to let it go, he wrote CRASH. The response? Same thing. “It’s a great script, Paul but it will never sell."
    So what did he do?
Did he give up and stop writing?
Nope. He did the movies anyway. And now, he is the only writer to win back-to-back Oscars for those two films.
How do I know this story? Because Paul was gracious enough to come into our Screenreader program and relay the tale!
