Why You Should Collect Stories!

What makes a good story? What makes a good storyteller? Are they one and the same?
At Hollywood Gatekeepers, we’ve been chatting a lot about this topic lately. On Monday, we had a very special guest join us in the Hollywood Gatekeepers Facebook Group. His name is Jamie Keddie and he is an expert storyteller.
We had such a fun conversation. So fun, in fact, that we decided to share it on our RUclips channel! So, if you weren’t able to join us for the session when we did it live, feel free to catch the replay here!
Jamie Keddie teaches teachers how to use stories in their lesson plans. Tune in to hear him talk (in a lovely accent, I might add), about the nuances of storytelling. He gives some great examples, and he even stumps me by retelling a story told within a popular movie. See if you recognize the story as Jamie tells it.

There are so many nuances to the reading process. Being able to identify a good story is extremely important. It is equally important to be able to see what will help a struggling script become a good story. By having conversations with expert guests within Hollywood Gatekeepers, we can continue to become a better support system for producers while maintaining our role as a champion for writers. Not to mention, having fun in the process.
