18 Hours playing Song 2 by Blur. I hopped on stage to sing. I know it's been a long time since I've posted. I had put a lot of time and energy over the last year up to the summer working on RUclips videos. I spent the last half of the year working on other areas of my life, some still pertaining to music. I have a lot to share in the future and I am making an effort to get back into a more cons...

    Fun trivia: the Black Parade outfits that MCR wear in music videos and that the band wore on live performances while touring this album were inspired by The Beatles' Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover if I recall correctly.

    I always say that if Mama is the war, Sleep is the PTSD. That part before the final stretch of the album is so heavy, Cancer followed by those two songs, one after the other, it's almost exhausting on a first listen. Absolutely love this album and your reaction. Love MCR since like 2007 too. On another note: when I was a teenager, I wanted to learn how to be a drummer, but for one reason or another, I never did. I'm 30 now. Watching you airdrum Welcome to the Black Parade was vicariously cathartic, a little bit.

    I know Gerard's unique voice always gets recognition, but man, there Guitar/Drums were always so impressive to me. The way they merged so many different sounds and rhythm's not even on the album itself, but just individual songs as well that just went through so many different pacing and switches. Will forever be one of my favorite bands of all time.

    I tell new people to Radiohead to start with Pablo Honey and then trust the process. Kid A is shocking, took me a little while to appreciate this album as did most Radiohead fans. But the absolute balls on these guys, the daring, the gall, it's what makes Radiohead so good and so influential. They will experiment, they will find new creative sounds, new creative arrangements, and they will learn from them and grow. Take out any one album and you don't get the next one. Where they've ended up in A Moon Shaped Pool is outstanding, and how they got there is really quite remarkable. The journey has so many great highlights, across all their albums.

    With having only ever listened to Creep, I kind of wish you had started at the beginning with Pablo Honey, then The Bends, instead of jumping straight to OK Computer. Every album they reinvented themselves, and it's more fun to listen to the full evolution.

    12:13 you know what's crazy.... her pen game is so lethal that for me it can also mean.... a crane as in construction. Those huge building cranes. Those metal clouds..... and that freedom she yearned for was the country. The open sky without impediments.

    Gerard plays 2 different characters in multiple songs & both in songs like Sleep where he's the Patient and then the Parader screaming "WAKE UP!'. You can hear it in The End when it flows from the Patient to the Parader in Dead. The Parader is this particular kid's"Boatman" or guide into the afterlife who's been given some power & has a following on the other side but the Parader has some issues of his own heard in Mama. At the end of Sleep you can hear the Parader goes from talking shit to & having distain for the Patient to showing empathy, gaining respect for his fight,& willing the Patient to live by screaming"WAKE UP!!!" This album is beautiful but when you figure out the different characters it really shows Gerard's brilliance. Without Ray Toro MCR wouldn't be MCR but without Gerard Way they wouldn't be punk rock God's. Gerard Way is a national treasure and should be honored as such for his generational work in not only MCR but Umbrella Academy and the millions of lives he's touched. I met the boys in '04 when I worked at a concert venue and if I hadn't already been a fan after meeting them i would have. Mikey Way was especially a very gracious and extremely appreciative dude. Mikey gave me a hug & told me i was "really sweet". Id given up my bar that night to work the MCR rider backstage so I got to hangout with them a bit. I was kinda shocked as the boys hung out in the actual venue before the show and didn't stay on their bus until curtains. Normally with band's having their success and 3 Cheers had really taken off by then with the Im not ok video in regular circulation by then they'd tend to keep to themselves and stay in the bus or hotel right up until go time. Not MCR. I went in early to set-up their rider and had to run to Publix for a few things but made sure I was back for soundcheck which was fantastic BTW. Me and our "office lady" for lack of a better term (Stephanie & she's AWESOME!!!) & I immediately went backstage after & was very surprised to see the boys still hanging out with Mikey strumming his red bass unplugged. I went to Mikey first to see if they needed anything & just to tell them that I was their guy at the venue if they needed whatever. Mikey was really nice so I took the opportunity to tell him that I was a big fan. He immediately gave me a little half hug and said awww. He then noticed my Silver Surfer themed sleeve on my arm and wanted to show Gerard. Anyway... very cool night and GREAT show I watched from backstage right just behind Ray shredding who was off to the side of Bob's kit. Long live My Chemical Romance ♥️

    Fun fact. How much a dollar cost and mortal man were created in South Africa while Kendrick was on tour. Being out there inspired him. In how much a dollar costs he says 10 Rand which is there currency. Mortal man references Nelson Mandela. His producer sounwave said during an interview that they make a lot of their music while on tour because their inspiration comes from being amongst the people rather than being closed off from the world. Look up Sounwaves interview and he further explains their creative process.

    These walls is about Kendrick misusing his fame and influence to have sex with the girlfriend of the person that killed his friend that died in real life that he spoke about on the first verse of the song “sing about me”. The first verse is about the vaginal walls of his girlfriend. He then goes on to rap directly to the guy that killed his friend. It’s a revenge/sex song. Kendrick used this song as a single which adds to the fact that this is a revenge song lol.

  • @FuccYew
    @FuccYew 3 месяца назад

    The second verse on institutionalized is written from the perspective of his friend that he brought to the bet awards. That verse starts out with snoop saying “took his homie to the show(bet awards) and this is what they said”. The verse written from his friends POV is explaining how he’s envious of these rich ppl and wants to rob them because they constantly flaunt thier wealth.

    I criticized you for not dissecting the lyrics for GKMC but you did a great job of trying to understand the lyrical content for this video. Thank you. Your break down of king kunta was on point but the part you might not be aware of was the fact he was speaking about Drake. This was the time when Drake did an interview that was taking shots at Kendrick’s control verse. Drake took it personal which got Kendrick upset because it wasn’t personal. The control verse was friendly competition but Drake was being petty in the interview and took shots at Kendrick which tarnished thier relationship.

    Wesley’s Theory is a song about the trouble that follows black people that gain fame and fortune. The first verse Kendrick speaks about how artist from the hood ignorantly want to spend money irresponsibly. The second verse is written from the perspective of “Uncle Sam” aka the government. When he says “I’ll Wesley snipe your ass before 35” at the end it’s referring to how the famous actor Wesley got locked up for tax evasion. That’s why he chose the name Wesley’s Theory for the song. It was sinister because black people have historically been taken advantage of in the music industry. You did a good job on the breakdown.

  • @FuccYew
    @FuccYew 3 месяца назад

    Please listen to this again and do a lyrical analysis instead of talking over it. You spoke over sing about me when the first verse was speaking from the perspective of his friend that thanked Kendrick for being there when his brother died. The verse explains how his friend retaliated for the murder Kendrick witnessed and ended up dying because of it. The second verse is written from the perspective of Tammy’s sister and right before it ends she says I’ll never fade away and then the vocals fade out. On section 80 there was a song called Tammy’s song and the sister was upset that Kendrick was telling her story to the world. The third verse is Kendrick speaking from his own perspective telling Tammy’s sister that he feels like he has to tell these stories. The message of these 2 songs are more than a general message about violence. He’s talking about his actual life experience and the things he literally witnessed.

  • @FuccYew
    @FuccYew 3 месяца назад

    33:20 The reason this album is amazing is because of the lyrical content. Kendrick explained how the first blunt he smoked had him foaming at the mouth and you only focused on the beat. I’ve noticed that many ppl from the suburbs focus on the beats and ignore what he’s saying. It’s almost as if they don’t think the lyrics are worth dissecting. He explains how he shot someone as kid and how he staged a robbery because of the negative influences in his life. It’s upsetting when ppl ignore the meaning of the songs.

    • @FuccYew
      @FuccYew 3 месяца назад

      I don’t mean to be rude I just feel like you aren’t seeing that he’s talking about his actual story. To someone that’s just tuning in it sounds like he’s speaking about the hood in general but it’s based on people he actually knows. You did an amazing job of dissecting the sound. But I can tell you get uncomfortable when violence is brought up. It’s like you subconsciously try to block it out because of stereotypes that have been instilled in you but it’s holding you back from understanding and fully grasping the meaning of the songs. I respect that you took the time to appreciate the music but I felt like giving you the respect of explaining why you weren’t fully understanding the lyrics. This album is very raw and real so it’s going to feel like culture shock for people that come from a more sheltered environment.

    @43:40 The line "I'll live longer than you and never fade away. I'll never fade away-" happened before the inevitable fade. Not meaning that she had a lot to say (even though she did). But more so because her relevance eventually did just that- faded.
