Dust or Bust

Hi, my name is Marcos. Welcome to the Dust or Bust Channel. This is a DIY automotive channel about building, driving, and having fun with classic cars. I love fabricating, learning how things work, and sharing my projects. I am not a professional mechanic, but I love both the mechanical and body work side of doing auto projects. I am into customizing and hot rodding, and doing the work myself. It is not always perfect, but I get it done and share both the good and bad.
My current project cars:
1974 Plymouth Duster 360, this car has the original drivetrain with a small block Mopar 360, 727 Automatic Transmission, 8/14 rear end.
"El Guapo" - 1969 SS 396 Chevrolet El Camino, the body is in terrible shape currently, but it still has the original 396 Mark IV Big Block, TH400 transmission and 12 bolt rear end.
Thanks for following along!

Do Not Start with Teardown : Project Car Mistakes

30 Days of Duster Build Day 3: Paying the price now for starting my project with teardown. Whenever possible a project should be started with getting a detailed assessment of what works and what doesn't. Once it is all in pieces it is much harder to know. Right now it seems brake boosters are all out of stock at the retailers I have checked. Looking for input on how to inspect and rebuild this ...

Mopar 360 Build Part 3: Crank is Busted. Time for a Stroker?
Great work! I just did the front bumper on my '74 Plymouth Valiant. Rear bumper next. 100 lbs off the extreme front and back of the car for a couple hours of work is a win.
Thanks for sharing this. I haven't been inside an engine for almost fifty years. Now that I'm retired, I've been thinking about something to play with; either a MOPAR 360 or maybe an RB, depending on what I find to put it in..

hola quiero hacer mi duster 1970 un vehiculo para el diario que me recomienda?
👍👍Excellent demo and info. Couldn't be explained better 👍👍👍
My friend thank you for your video I have a 360 engine and I have a headers from eBay but I cannot install due gearbox in my Coronet 70 How I Can do it😢?
Hey Leo, sorry to hear of the issue. Yeah, the header to gearbox interference is miserable. Not sure how many hours I spent on it. Will be a little different for a Coronet, but here is what ended up working for me. I loosened all the engine mounts to where it was holding the weight but could pivot. Remove the front driver engine mount with a jack under it, then use the jack to pivot the engine up and to the left. On my Duster it created just enough clearance to take the gearbox in and out. It's a hard job, good luck buddy!! You'll get it. 👍
My friend thank you for your time and for your support in this issue I will see your next videos because are very great
Great examples! Thanks for presenting this helpful info!
Rotate the crank
A couple of tips put the new seat skins out in the hot sun, for an hour or more if you can. Second, use some plastic bag, like dry cleaning plastic that is put on over your cleaned clothes. The plastic bag will help the new vinyl skins on the seats. Otherwise its like pulling a pair of pantyhose on a 600 pound lady.. its a wrestling match.
Hate to give you some bad info but I could never locate a set of headers that would fit an A body with power steering. That was a few years ago so perhaps something new has come along since then. The power steering unit is too large.
Well done. Even I understood most of this.
Half assed repair.
Going in to get that bolt from the hood hinge is much easier, working on a '68 dart. AND if you're going completely from scratch you have to take the bumper and grille off. there is also a 7/16 bolt hiding at the top of the fender in the inner fenderwell.
Good to see you back Marco. Nice to see you and Adam out cruising in Adams awesome van. Are you going to be back on the Duster again? Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.👍
If you want that swirl polish, it's easy , when you've finished modifying your valve , put it in the drill press and use a die grinder with the correct size flap wheel , but hold it at 45 degrees .
Matching numbers? I might would do it.
Excellent explanation. Well done thanks
hi like the color on the duster
Thanks, it is Y1 Lemon Twist, was available up to 1973. Much more pop than the original avocado gold 😂. Thanks for watching!
hi you did a good job with the seat for a first timer k
Thanks Joe!
Where have you been hiding Marco ?? Anymore progress on the Duster ?
Hey B Dubs, hope you are well buddy! Mix of life stuff caused delays. Duster is driving, but still far from finished. Hopefully have an update out next week
@@DustorBust power tour in going to be in your neck of the woods this year. Any plans of going ?
@@brianwil89 heck no 😂. I am unfortunately not race ready and have to work that week. Are you going?
@@DustorBust yes I’m going but it looks like im going to be having to find a plan B to drive. Power tour is just a traveling car show basically. Not a race like drag week.
@@brianwil89 good luck buddy, hope you find a car that suits the need. I am so far behind on mine that you might have passed me with your Duster project. 😁
Shit can the power steering and replace with manual steering, more room without ps. Im a mopar guy fir over 50 years, unfortunately chevys are easy to put headers on, big and small block
Hey Brian, thanks for watching! So this was like 2 years ago, and if I could do it all over again(which I might 😂) I would go that route. The power steering has been a PITA. Fit issues, leaks, etc.
Absolutely the right choice when there is no engine involved
Great video bud!❤
Love the GSD. So good to have a hangout buddy in the workshop
How does hp factor into this?
Mind sharing this spreadsheet ?
I need that shirt!
Hi KryptoKing, good taste, you are the only person to mention it. I got this one from the website: donkeytees.com Also, I have started my own shirt site focused on automotive designs. Still building the inventory, but please check it out. RevvedApparel.com Thanks for watching!
That's an awesome ride,🇺🇲🙂 16:08
Welcome back 😁👍
Thank you Sir! Hope all is well for you 👍
Hey that's my Cousin Adam. Lol ... great video guys 👍
Yeah, Adam is a great dude. I remember that you guys were cousins from when you started. Hope things are going well for you!
@@DustorBust thanks. things are good
Beautiful Duster i love the yellow
Thanks MOFO!
That doesn't look yellow, cool van.
Mike!! Hey buddy, thanks for tuning in. Yes, Duster has made some progress, but took quite a while off. Duster update coming soon!
You finally emerged from the cave!
Hahah, thanks buddy! Life took some turns, but I am out of the cave now. Duster videos coming soon.
where are you with this project now?
Howdy Smilsmff, thank you for checking in, I sincerely appreciate it. Duster is running pretty good and with plates. Hoping to drop an update video in the next week or so. Stay tuned, thanks!
I recommend changing cam bearings. Pretty simple job, and once that far into it another hour of labor and peace of mind. I built engines professionally and taught diagnostics to votech instructors. Also recommend high volume oil pump.
So how do you use this tool to remove the old bushing
Why did you disappear?
Jail... 😂Not really, life just got crazy. Duster is up and running, but still rough around the edges. Will post update soon. Thank you for checking in my Mopar brother!
🔥
50 pounds? Ye gods. I wasn't expecting it to weigh THAT much. Here I was, thinking I might troll the junkyards for a stock 4 barrel intake. Nix that idea...
Marco, i watched all of your videos and was wandering where you went and how the duster turned out?
Hi Jeff, thanks for asking and following! Unfortunately lots of life changes the last year and a half. Moving plus other stuff. Duster is running pretty good. She is registered, and I do drive to the grocery store, but not quite finished. Life is getting back to a stable point and weather is improving so I will try to get back at it soon. Thanks again for asking, take care!
@DustorBust Thanks for getting back to me. I heard Jonny mopar say you was helping with T-shirt our something so I figured I would see what's up. Glad you got oh yeller up and going. Hopefully we will see more of it.
My suggestion is running some straps through the wheels and around the dollies ..i had my car fall off of dolly before by lifting while pushing..you could get hurt if this happens..i was lucky.
A better way to explain this from where you count the teeth is to have 3 tires all different heights next to each other and roll them all showing how far each goes to make 1 revolution.
Why should someone have to go to all these lengths just to make that piece of junk work? What if you don't have the tools or expertise? Pittsburgh need to go back to the drawing board.
did you give up ?
Haha, 😂 Sort of. Lots of life changes and crappy winters. I expect to be back at in soon. I appreciate the comment and incentive to get back. 👍
Can’t wait to try this on my darts dash pad!!!
thanks for sharing
Great Video!
That's why I box cut my k frame and got rid of my steering box center link motor mounts and use rack and pinion I use a motor plate makes life easier
what magnets are those?
Harbor Freight, nothing fancy
I’m doing my car. Everyone told me to Junk my car It’s in bad shape But I’ll do it!
Good for you bud! Lots of time and money, but for me it is a priceless accomplishment. Good Luck!
