Is there any difference between the first version of the super takumar and the second version , the early version goes to f22 but I see yours goes to f16 , I wonder which one is better ? I have an option between the two
Unfortunately I can't give you any specifics but the channel Simon's Utak might have some more information on this. Highly recommended if you're into vintage lenses.
@@MarcelGlas Ive done some good research on this , and ended up on his channel too, the popular opinion is the f16 version is better then the f22 version , it was just improved on , Im buying that one , but your 2 videos convinced me to get it !! thanks
@ Thanks for letting me know! Happy my video was useful to you 🙌

beautiful review brother. just sub'd
Much appreciated! 🙌
A great video. I just subscribed. I’m wondering if what you outline will help me. I have tons of 35mm slides and negatives I wish to copy. I’m trying to avoid the cost of a macro lens, so perhaps a solution can be found here. My cameras are Olympus micro 4/3. My sharpest lens is my Olympus 45mm f/1.8. What would you suggest please?
Hey there. The Close-Up lens will only work with lenses upwards of 70mm so I wouldn't recommend the 45mm for your purposes.
Subscribed within 10 sec. great content bro
Welcome! 🙌
The IQ, editing and sound detail is outstanding!! This video & channel should have at least over 1milion views/subscribers!! You are truly skilled sir.
Damn, thank you so much for your kind words! Highly appreciated 🙌
Great info but I think 6-8 stops are required on a very sunny day. And usually 1-8 stop filters have bad colors. Can you recommend any 6-9 stops VND's? 55mm and 77mm
Unfortunately I don't have any hands on experiences with the kind of filters you're looking for. Color cast is no problem for the way I work since I color balance all shots during post production. It would only be problematic if the filter were to change colors while twisting it. That said I'd recommend getting a VND + CPL combination if possible. Been using it on absolutely every shoot since creating this review and it's been very useful.
Great video, nice shots! Is exactly the type of rig I’m looking for. Thanks!
You're welcome man! Thanks for stopping by 🙌
What was your main light/ kit before this? Great job on the video. Was the best one to showcase this product.
Thanks Johsua! Appreciate the kind words. 🙌 I've been using the SmallRig RC 120B for a couple of years as my main light. Still use it alongside the RC 100B on many of my current shoots.
@@MarcelGlas Got the light bc of you bro! haha. Any light stands you recommend as of late for solo and portable shooters. preferably one that is also light and has the ability to boom. but I think I just need to get a clamp attachment for that if I'm correct? Also adding the rc 220b pro to the kit later as my main light so looking to be able to use it with that
@ happy for you man! Hope it will serve you well. I'm using relatively basic light stands. I don't think it's an international brand so you might as well pick up something else which looks somewhat sturdy. If I were to use it as a boom I'd probably go for a proper c stand though.
Hey man, what do you think of S5iiX? is solid camera that can compete with A7iv or even Fx3 in some cases for much affordable price?
Hey there. I've heard lots of great things about the S5iiX but didn't get around to shoot with it yet. Honestly though, you can pick up just about any mid-tier camera from the last couple of years and you'll be good to go in most scenarios. 🙌
Wank level in the VO is off the charts. Visuals are pretty nice though.
You must be fun at parties. Thanks for the free engagement though.
Some of the folks in here need a friend. I get that not everyone agrees on how to review a product but give the guy a break. I mean, all it takes is to close the view window to move on to something you like better. There's no need to crucify the guy for his efforts. Have mercy.
A reasonable perspective on the internet? I must be dreaming. 🙌
one of this best review out there! thank you for the insights!
You're welcome man! 🙌
Thank you sooo much for this beautiful sample. I’m gonna get this for Nikon, it’s the only decent f2.8 zoom lens for Z mount 😅
Glad it was helpful! 🙌
Great video. I just received the same Smallrig V-Mount battery plate and was wondering which quick release plate you use on the camera to attach it the battery plate, as I will need to purchase a new one as I currently have Falcam F38 quick release plates on everything but isn't compatible with this setup. If you have a direct link that would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Happy to hear! I don't use a dedicated quick release plate on the camera since my SmallRig camera cage has a built in acra swiss plate at the bottom. Feel free to check out the link in the description box under Sony FX3/FX30 camera cages. 🙌
@MarcelGlas thank you very much for the reply, really appreciate it.
@@Stu_Co You're welcome, glad I could help!
very helpful video, thank for this subbed!
Glad it was helpful. Welcome!
Awesome lens for sure, I love mine. Set it to f8 infinity and shoot landscape scenics all day without ever having to focus the lens
Very interesting, gotta try that!
Great review! That diner scene looks sick! I don't mind it not coming with it's own case. The thing is super small, and clearly designed to be cheap and portable enough to be packed in a camera bag or case.
Thanks a lot man! Actually had a run and gun shoot yesterday where I needed to remain as unintrusive as possible while having to light a ton of spontaneous interviews in different locations of the venue. It was an absolute breeze with this light. 🙌
I just bought one. it makes the impressiveness of the fx3 more reachable for the more common folk
Agreed!
Let me tell you how free will works , if anything bad is said about the product that was sent to you for free , the brand stops you sending products in the future , look how unbox therapy does not get iPhones , so take this video with pinch of salt 😅
And yet you do see me talk about the cons of this lens. Lately people act like everyone who chooses to accept a product in exchange for a review has lost their spine, which tells me that they have no idea how most people in this industry actually earn their living. A video like this takes weeks to produce. In return I get to keep a budget lens which can be bought for 500$. Where I live I have to pay taxes on these things making it even less of a financial incentive. If all of this was just a confusing scheme to rip people of I'd much rather avoid all the unwaranted negativity and work more.
Mal wieder ein Meisterwerk! Sehr gelungenes Video mit stimmigem Ton und Schnitt <3 Und natürlich ein wunderschönes KFZ :) :) Da bekommt man direkt wieder Lust, in einen i30N zu sitzen :D
Vielen lieben Dank! 🙌
This is incredible, the editing and lighting is perfection
Thanks a ton! 🙌
Great video! Thanks for sharing! BTW, it can be powered directly by the V-mount battery without USB-C cable.
Wow, I actually didn't know this. Thanks for pointing it out!
Unless you’re buying with your hard earned money, it’s never unbiased opinion. Free lens and you get to keep it. I don’t trust anything you say.
You're absolutely right to be cautious when it comes to watching any review. If this is a no got to you, then this video unfortunately isn't for you. That said, the visuals and factual information are still useful for someone who might be interested.
Video quality goes through the roof.
Thanks a ton man! 🙌
Tone the voice down a little, not all your videos have to be some Thriller suspense video. And the Movie "credit" titles are already over used..
Nobody's forcing you to watch a video you don't like mate
@@MarcelGlas Thank gosh
One video away from do not recommend
Care to elaborate?
Stop saying you are not paid, the products you are given do not cost money? You get paid by products, it's pretty much the same…
It's far from being the same. Doing a review like this takes days, sometimes weeks I could've spent working on jobs which actually pay the bills. Where I live I also have to pay taxes on every product I receive "for free" which makes it even less of a financial incentive. People assume that RUclipsrs with a small audience can afford to live in lofty castles rentfree which is just not true.
It's the biting of each words for me☺
I would never buy a product where the one thing needed to make it operate is at an extra coat. Especially when it comes to a plug for a light. Literally WTF.🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I see your point mate. I'd say it depends on what you're looking when purchasing a video light. If you mainly use it as a protable solution, this is no dealbreaker but I do get what you're saying.
What "changed forever?" None of this is new and in fact with no bowens mount it's arguably a step backwards. Clickbait gets your channel put on the "do not recommend" list
It’s better for RUclipsrs to be honest indeed. This light doesn’t change things forever. Nobody likes clickbait that lead us to affiliate links - but we all make mistakes. Hope the next title will be more in line with reality ❤
Exactly, I'm guessing this RUclipsr have never use any other lights for him to make such a stupid click bait title. Anywaise, already added to do not recommend.
Agreed
It literally changed the way I approach lighting my sets. This being a new technology or not is missing the point. As stated in the review, I do agree with you on the bowens mount.
I am 100% with you about being honest. That said, I don't see how anything said or shown in the video doesn't reflect reality. The light literally changed the way I light my projects.
If they had gone with the Bowens mount, it really would have been a 10|10. Btw I like your branding with the red/black.
Thanks a bunch man! I put a lot of effort in it. 🙌 After thinking about it for a bit I'm torn on the Bowens mount situation. On the one hand you definitely need to get another softbox or the specific adaptor. On the other hand the light is quite a bit more compact this way.
@MarcelGlas yes, you're probably right that it wasn't a bad intention on the part of smallrig to keep everything compact. Then you have to decide whether to use an adapter or a new softbox ;) The music video that you showed in the video looked really cool (light, color) it would be cool if you could show more of it ✌🏼
@@Marvnz I'm planing on doing a breakdown of how I shot the music video in the future but this will take some time. If you like to check it out feel free to look for PLEASE - Vincent Varus [Official Music Video] ✌
I own this light. Its great. Very versatile and powerful for its size. I too hate the lack of a proper carrying case. That is my only real knock on this product. I got the power adapter too but I almost always run it with a V-mount battery attached.
Very happy to hear! I'm curious to know how you currently transport it to your shoots. I've thought about getting a small case for the light, the power brick and the V mount but obviously this would be an extra purchase.
@MarcelGlas I also thought about buying a case. Currently I just transport in the original box. My clients aren't going through my gear. They don't see the packaging
@ Fair enough 🙌
RUclipsrs need to stop putting disclaimers on their videos. Saying someone gave you products it is obvious the item has a representational value that is considered as value added to your business especially if you get to keep it. Even if you don't get to keep it like Gerald Undone there is the value of creating a RUclips video that will generate income. Next the possibility of receiving future products also creates an undeniable bias because that is also an avenue for future income. Just do the video... You sound more bias when you try to explain how the transaction went down
Thanks for taking the time to share your perspective mate. While I agree on certain points you've touched on I believe it's highly important to be upfront about this for transparencie's sake. A few creators were recently faced with unnecessary controversies due to undisclosed conflict of interest which could've easily been avoided.
@MarcelGlas Bro leave the disclaimer out even if someone calls you out, it will be free publicity. You are creating Artwork. Look at the effort you put in the video. It's like Picasso putting small print on the Mona Lisa
@@Kori_INJN Thank you for your kind words man, much appreciated! I'll think about the things you've touched on. Cheers
@@Kori_INJN You may not know this but he is required by RUclips to make it known when a video is sponsored. The fact that Smallrig sent him the gear for the purpose of creating content means he has to tell us.
@@DSFkingIf you watched the video he said it very organically at this point 0:15 however at 0:38 it seems that it took me out of the video. If it's a requirement place it at the end.
How to properly pronounce it "soo ray" or "see rooy"?
I'm fairly certain I've heard someone working at Sirui pronounce it as "soo ray" during an interview but everyone seems to do it differently. 😅
@@MarcelGlas thanks for the info!
@ You're welcome!
Amazing my friend! How about I use Nisi with Sigma 28-70mm. Could I have a close shot with that lens?
You could just use the 67mm Step-up ring included with the NiSi Close-up lens and screw it on the 28-70mm without any problems. It isn't recommended to use the Close-up lens with any focal length below 70mm but to this day I most often use it with my Sony 20-70mm zoomed in to 70mm and it works perfectly.
@@MarcelGlas Thats absolutely incredible. Much appreciated. Keep it up your work my friend. The world as always hunger your art. Big love from vietnam
@ Thank you man! You too 🙌
Always mesmerizing 😊
Thank you so much!
@ welcome sir
I’ve had my eye on this lens since it was announced like 2 weeks ago. I think i’ve made up my mind, this one might take the win. The Sigma 85mm might be better but for the price point, this aurora series wins. I’ve had the Sirui 50 mm Anamorphic and I love it so much, hopefully this one lives up to the hype.
also subbed bro good vid 🔥
Thanks man, happy to have you here! I didn't expect to like this lens as much as I do. For me, it's not gonna be an EDC lens but I look forward to use it again and again.

@@BassDad-TV Thanks a ton 🙌 happy to welcome you!
I've been watching reviews of this lens all week and I just don't understand how this thing can exist. Its spectacular at the price point. My brain doesn't even understand how it can be this good. I really hope it isn't because the lens is built really cheaply internally and will stop working in a year. Regardless, as someone who has been considering buying the Nikon 85 1.2 Z for a while, it just seems bonkers that this lens can be had for a fifth of the price and is nearly as good. (Yes I know the Nikon will focus faster, is a bit sharper, a bit faster, and handles flare better). But in terms of real world results, in most situations, this thing is scary close and its size is so appealing. The biggest thing that has kept me from buying the Nikon is its weight. Of course... I also have the other conundrum of Sirui also launching that 40mm 1.8 Anamorphic autofocus in a couple weeks that looks like it is also insanely amazing value... ;) Sirui looks like it is about to change the photo industry in the same way Sigma did back when the ART line showed up.
Thank you for commenting Ryan! After the fashion shoot was over I had a long chat with the photographer and he told me the same thing. The relationship between price and performance is pretty insane. While I can't say anything about the lenses internals it really feels like they focused on the most important parts like CA control, form factor and beautiful bokeh. I didn't know about the upcoming anamorphic lens. Should check that out asap!
Chinese glass is getting good and cheap. You are right it's going to flip the market. I just picked up a 35, 50, 85 AF 1.8 set from Meike for $550 bucks. There is def better build quality out there but for someone who needed a full set of AF lenses better than the kit lens they are incredible. Sirui is even better I grabbed the 16 mm nightwalker and it feels so premium its nuts!
@@MarcelGlas Yeah, they announced it on the weekend, I don't think any reviews are out yet. Its an exciting one for sure if it performs like a real anamorphic but has Autofocus and is under $1000.
@@BassDad-TV Yeah, for real. Like cheap Chinese glass has always been a thing, but its always been really junky and never had AF. But this new generation of it seems fantastic. Sirui, Loawa, Mieke, etc all seem to be doing it at a much higher level of quality than the older ones like Rokinon and Yongnuo.
@@ryancooper3629 I gotta get one of those autofocus anamorphic lenses I was just thinking about one but since I film myself a lot manual isn’t always the best choice.
Its rare nowedays to be inspire with gear video on creativity. Thanks a lot for this reminder of how we are passionate about filmaking and cinematography
And thank you for your kind words!
The Super Takumar 35mm 3.5 produces an INSANE image.
100% agreed!
Yeaa..too many Sony salesman in RUclips
So easy to understand. You arguments are well founded, but more important - transparent. It gives me the opportunity to either agree or disagree👍 Thanks
Thanks for your feedback friend! Happy it helped 🙌
I too did a stress test. I had my Panasonic S5 Mark 2 connected via the USB-C port on the camera to the USB-C port on the PS099E Neewer Mini V-Mount battery. The stress test went well. It lasted 3.5 hrs powering both the monitor and the camera at full power. The monitor was a 2000nit monitor turned all the way to 100% brightness and the camera recorded 6K 10bit 422. I had IBIS turned on and rocked the camera to get it working hard. However. just yesterday the HDMI port on the camera just stopped working. There are many reports this battery and specifically the USB-C output is to blame. Have you heard of anything in this regard?
Thanks for your input! If I understand you correctly the HDMI port of the camera doesn't work anymore and people think it has something to do with the USB-C connection to the battery? Could you elaborate on this? Lately I've been using it on several productions back to back and so far I haven't experienced any issues but I'm curious to hear more. 🤔
@@MarcelGlas All I can say is the camera and monitor have worked flawlessly for over a year on their respective batteries. No issues at all. Then for no reason at all the monitor just had no signal. The camera was connected however because the monitor did not display the overlay of camera info as it would when connected to the monitor. Also the RED record boundary did not display on the camera monitor as it was being sent to the HDMI. So it was registering its connection internally just not displaying an output image. I did a little research and came across a REDIT post and there was a couple of posts that described almost word for word what I had experienced. The post said that the monitor had worked without issue for a couple of weeks before just stopping as mine did. Then another post described the exact same thing. Curiously however the USB-C port on the Neewer is rated as 9V 3.2Amps which is more or less exactly right for the camera. It should be fine, add to that the fact this battery is supposed to have all kinds of safety protections to stop this kind of thing happening, I'm surprised and disappointed. I'm not sure whether to send the batteries back or not. I actually bought a second but I'm scared to use it as I may not even get a replacement camera. This could cost me a lot. I can't afford to just go buying cameras like it's nothing. Any advice on this.
@@JWS1968 Man I'm sorry to hear! Do you know if the guys on reddit were all using the same type of monitor and camera you're using? There's certainly a correlation but I'm not convinced the V mount battery has anything do with it. Even if the battery was somehow problematic why would this specifically affect the functionality of the HDMI port instead of the USB-C port for example? Perhaps you could try another HDMI cable or connect another monitor (maybe ask a friend or a colleague) without using the V mount battery to check if everything else is working as intended. Thoughts?
@@MarcelGlas I've done the due diligence. Swapping cables etc. I have a friend with a S5ii and my monitor works on his camera just fine. The monitor still works fine. The cables all still work fine. It's definitely the HDMI on the camera not working. I even tried resetting the camera back to factory settings and updating firmware. The HDMI still no signal.
@@JWS1968 I've done some digging and came up with the following: This isn't a problem unique to the Neewer battery but something which can occur when using a single power source to run multiple devices (like a camera and a monitor). Doesn't matter which camera brand or which V mount battery you pick up. There's several reports of people who experienced this with their Black Magic Pocket Cinema Cameras. People came to a few different conclusions: 1. Avoid using cheap cables 2. Avoid hotswaping batteries while the camera is turned on 3. Apparently using a dedicated battery for the monitor and powering just the camera from the V mount battery would be the best option and avoid any problems
Every video is better then the last one, youre really inspiring
Dude, huge compliment! I'm humbled honestly 🙌
Great video. Are you German?
Thanks man! I am. Pretty tough to unlearn this accent. 😄
did you put an nd filter on top?
Yes! I use one on all of my lenses. Makes it much easier to use to correct shutter speed when filming something 🙌
@@MarcelGlas did you use like a step ring because I couldn't figure out what size to get
@ Nope, bought a filter that fits on perfectly. This lens has a 49mm filter thread size 🙌
