bro, the amount of value that is in your videos is crazy! I'm very grateful for having found your channel, and follow you on your youtube journey! (the quality you produce doesn't match the amount of attention you get - if you keep going it will come, just remember to enjoy it tho!)
I'm about to sell my 20-40 to buy the new sony 24-50. But after watching your video, I think I'm going to cancel the plan for now. This lense do most of waht 24-50 can to at half the price.
I have to say I was very surprised by the difference between 24mm and 20mm at the wide end. This might not be important to everyone but can be extremely useful. Depending on your Sony camera the clear image zoom function also gives you an additional 1.5x zoom factor with unnoticable loss in image quality. I'm glad I was able to help you make that decision 🙌
I'd highly recommend the Sony 20-70mm if you can afford it. It has become my main lens for 80% of my work and is still very small and light. Optical performance, stabilization and auto focus are also far superior to the Tamron 20-40mm. That said, consider if the f4 of the Sony would be bright enough for the work you do. 🙌
I had this lens, bought it specifically with video in mind and returned it because it's terrible with IBIS, very VERY far from native Sony lenses. Sad.
@@KeatsITThanks for the heads up! Sounds like a valid point. I rarely use anything but Standard stabilization, that's why I probably haven't encountered this.
Why did you publish the video now, as Sony just release its 24-50mm f2.8.. your video has made me to have a second thought about Tamron. Your video is just too covincing to ditch the Sony..
Strange timing, right? Haha Even with the new Sony lens, the Tamron is still significantly more affordable and has a more useful zoom range for the work I'm doing. The Sony 24-50 also uses Sony's inferior autofocus motors. Not sure how they'd compare to the Tamron but it's no G Master quality as many reviewers are claiming.
@@MarcelGlasyeah they said the bokeh not so perfect, old autofocus lens engine.. but i’m done with 24mm.. i’m going for 20mm.. but not 16mm.. Another question though, just how did you stabilized the video with Tamron? as sony gives native glass a good stabilisation with its camera system.
@@Mraz75First of all, slow motion definitely helps with smoothing out the footage. 99% of the time I only use regular stabilization, no matter what lens I put on the camera. I'm assuming Sony lenses produce good results with their in camera stabilization but I like to have more control during postproduction. I feel like few people think like this, but if I can easily do it with the click of a button, I don't see the need to spend a premium on expensive lenses that may or may not get me a better result with stabilization.

Happy to help! I try to do these reviews a little differently than most people out there. Glad you enjoy it 🙌
You can literally make a video about a toothpick and I would be so convinced to buy it 😂
Man I appreciate this so much! 🙌
Bro your cinematography, storytelling and editig is top tier!
I am mainly a photographer and my daily set up is a Sony A7CR with the Tamron 20-40/2.8... thanks for ur video!

nice video nice grading. maybe you can make one video about your color grading!
Thanks a lot! I might update my old grading tutorial some day 🙌
Amazing quality 🔥
Much appreciated! 🙌

I haven't had such experiences after extensive use. Can you elaborate a little further? What camera and IBIS setting did you use?
@@MarcelGlas try it side by side with a Sony Lens and Active Stabe, you'd be "amazed" by the difference :/
