I'm apart of the first introduction to pop music camp. I had way too many of these as a kid, and I found some of the most nostalgic songs for me from them.

I’ve always thought that Kidz Bops was made specifically for super religious families and religious places that want to play “cool” music so them taking the sexuality references out doesn’t shock me at all. But I am Team Just make original music for the children

It felt very nostalgiac when I used to watch every Kidz Bop commercial on Nickelodeon since I was 4 or 5. The very first Kidz Bop commercial I watched was the one with "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus as one of their tracks back in 2009.

The way that they change lyrics to phrases that don't even make grammatical or semantic sense, how's that good for kids?

i remember saving one of her “writer in the dark” performances on my youtube playlists in hs and always just listen to it on repeat. at the time, i didn’t know WHY i loved this album, but looking back on it, it’s obvious. i think melodrama is such a classic, it’s crazy. i recently played this album for my boyfriend and he loves it. also, for me, when i hear an album i can usually call it a season. like sour is a spring, traumazine is a fall, etc. melodrama is simultaneously summer and winter. 19:32 i think it’s the same relationship, at first she described it as “not the worst thing ever” in the louvre but now more time has passed, and tbh it’s a lil embarrassing, but everyone will know when it’s time for you to let go before you do. your parents, your friends, etc. so it’s just hard feelings going thru the longest days of the year that are supposed to be the brightest and happiest. personal story: “endless summer afternoon” will always remind me of summer before senior year, working at sonic, w the golden hour evening sun beaming thru the windows. i was going thru a breakup and had a lot of time to think and try to let go. unfortunately the dude came back and i didn’t officially let go till a couple years after that but what’re you gonna do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, I used to get the kidz bop cds for Christmas from ages 4-7 and I liked them so I probably had a more positive view of kidz bop bc I thought it was a good way to know what songs are popular and enjoy them while not being exposed to all of the “explicit” aspects, but looking back when I would listen to non kidz bop songs I still didn’t pick up on the mature aspects anyways so the censorship was probably not necessary

In my opinion, kidz bop is like a relic of a forgotten era, and is something we don't really need anymore.

Funny how I discovered Kidz Bop covered Good Luck, Babe!by Chappell Roan right before I saw this. The chorus is the clunkiest change, but the bridge is probably the most unintentionally funny bc it’s changed from lamenting being a man’s wife to existential dread . “When you wake up in your bed in the middle of the night With your head in your hands, with nothing more in this life“ My first thought was that this sounded like the beginnings of suicidal ideation.

All I can think of is "my kids are listening to kidz bop"

Kidz Bop is SO inconsistent and hilarious. Some songs they don't change a single lyric to, so it's like what's the point. And then there are songs that change line after line to the point that it isn't the same song anymore, so it's like why bother covering it at all. Some songs censor words like "baby" and others don't. How do you censor "lean all in my bladder" but then not change the next line "cheated on my baby"? 😂

I was just thinking the other day about whether anyone actually enjoyed KidzBop, like did anyone care about the fact that it was other kids singing the songs or did they just listen to it because it was the only version their parents would allow?

Rocky Horror on Glee had similar problems. They sang sensational instead of transsexual, but kept transvestite in. There are FAR more people still using the word transsexual than transvestite. So they censored a gender identity but kept in the fetish. Very strange choice.

To me, it’s just a cheap cash grab, and it’s taking advantage of parents laziness. Everything needs to be sanitized and edited because parents don’t want to have hard conversations with their kids. I understand, sometimes they’re too young to understand things. But if you’re a parent, talk to your kid. Don’t shelter them from everything. When you do that, they just grow up and go buck wild, the minute they get some freedom. I understand wanting to protect your kids, and not ruin them at a young age. But it doesn’t hurt to talk them.

I would honestly feel so mad as an artist if someone took my art and changed it to fit a different demographic. I didn’t make it for that audience so it doesn’t need to be consumed by that audience.

when BTS comes back i think both their group projects and solo projects will continue to go crazy

I used to love the kidz bop and the original versions. Even though I had heard originals since i heard the kids versions more I'd remember the clean versions more. Sometimes I hear the originals and wonder how i know them. Then i remember the kidz bob versions
