Oh I’m soo excited to watch this video!! Edit: - I so agree about Recession Pop! And I think 2025 will be bigger for that, I can see electronic dance music coming back a bit stronger this year, thanks to Brat mainly. I can see JADE being a big part of this trend this year, I think she’ll be big and I’m SO excited for her. - I’m also hoping for a new pop boy to start making waves. As a male musician myself, I lowkey need a NEW male pop star to look up to and be motivated by😂I think MNEK would have so much potential, but he is a queer black man who doesn’t fit the body type that is normally pushed in the industry so…it’s an uphill battle. But the talent is THERE
Happy new year! I can def see joint tours becoming more of a trend. I so hope the pop boys show out this year, it feels like pop girls have been dominating for so long and it’s def time to see the men step their p up and deliver like their counterparts
what i want to see is more albums getting a solid marketing push. i hear so much discourse about “ohhhh not them announcing album 6 months before it drops.” and yes i think there is a good argument to make when the artist puts out the date and then its crickets. i feel like charlie for brat made an effort to keep herself in the media with so many side quests for the promotion of the album that i dont even remember the date that the album was announced because it already felt like we were in the album cycle. and the fact that the album cycle lasted until october (excluding the tour) made it feel like a proper release. so i want to see more of that push for an album rollout. where era gimmicks that the gp can take and make their own are made and side quests like interviews and mini pop ups and dj sets. meeting the people where they are is so important for connecting the audience to the music not necessarily the artist. but if you can get someone to be obsessed with the culture behind the album they might stick around for the artist too.
I would love to see more eco friendly physical media like merch made out of recycled materials. I think scenemo music like pop punk and metalcore could start to become popular because of the 20 year rule. I'm looking forward to Marina, PUP, Palette Knife, Chris Ray Gun, and Pinkshift's new music! Thanks for asking and it was nice to hear your predictions.
I think what im most excited for is definitely FKA Twig’s new album “Eusexua”. The singles have been amazing and it honestly seems like such a game changer for pop/indie music.
As far as I’m concerned FLO are the girls to watch right now. I am mostly isolated in my fandom but following them closely online I’m seeing a steadily increasing degree of fan engagement and also endorsements through collaborations etc. they are on the rise and their sense of identity as a group appears to be strengthening. I’m so excited I think they’re so talented and fantastic I can’t wait for their next releases until they’re big enough to tour Aus !
Happy new year Naomi. Thanks for all the vídeos. Your love for music is an inspiration❤ I hope we have more meaningful music, but also a good funny pop. I'm waiting for new álbuns from Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Shakira and Sabrina.
Tyla will surprise many in 2025 and that forced hate will come back again. Her love and break up songs are the best for me. Back to you by Tyla is one of the song on her album that made me emotional.
JADE is coming to save the uk pop girlies because uk pop has been shite lately filled with DJ remixes and it’s getting tired. she’s got such an interesting concept and and not just some plain pop girl.
For me, 2024 was great with Taylor, Charli, Katy, Beyonce, Megan, and Camila. Really excited for Chappell, Gaga, and Tate this year. In the ideal world though, I'd be getting another Megan album and a Rina Sawyama album.
I think we might have a comeback of electronic sounds inspired by early 2010's trends. With gaga, madeon and hell even skrillex releasing, people's nostalgia for the club increasing, and the popularity of Charlie xcx and The Dare I think is just natural to head in those directions
i don't think retro pop (synth pop, house, disco) is done. I think there is a lot more to come actually. If rock is going to come back I think it will be new wave.
Not really on topic, but something that came to mind with the mention of AI and the environmental impact: why do people all of a sudden pretend to care about that? And obviously this is not a personal attack(!), but I find it so peculiar that of all things that have environmental impact, AI is now being made the go to villain to call out… I haven’t looked into this, but surely AI isn’t contributing as much as say the meat industry or air transport or even all the wars going on currently.
I don't know if AI is as damaging as those other industries, but it's a beast when it comes to energy requirements. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc. are having to find new energy sources because there just isn't enough to fuel AI. With generative AI it also feels like such a waste because so much of it is about generating images, music, etc. that doesn't need to exist or AI assistants that are shoveled down our throats. With the meat industry, at least it feeds people. Still, you're definitely right the meat industry (I don't know much about air transport) is still completely unneccessary and damaging in its current state, and people should call it out more.
the reason is because it really does have an outsized impact that doesn't really compare to anything else in tech. training a single model puts as much carbon in the air as 125 round trip flights from NYC to Beijing. it's unfathomable. the entire meat industry and air travel are obviously huge polluters, but that's an entire industry. just one fraction of AI uses SO MUCH energy and puts so much carbon in the air and it's so new. we're nowhere near full implementation and it's already deeply unsustainable. it's also so unnecessary and being pushed on us by force. people don't need meat, but they do need food and the meat industry is tied into the large agricultural industry. people need to travel. people don't need to put tons of carbon into the air to make a shitty album cover with stolen art.
i honestly want to see a more political aspect of music that could still continue what we had in 2024, but not political to the point of speaking out just on the law. i want to hear music that can be made for a good time, but has a deeper influence or meaning behind it, like the modern indie pop version of ethel cain’s “american teenager.” i want music that shows a new perspective on the world right now, while also sounding like escapism
That song is so good and it shows a great balance of escapism but also dealing with a difficult important topic I’m still flabbergasted that Obama had this in one of his end of year fav songs like did he not read the room lmao I also think a song like Apple did a great job mixing an upbeat tune with a topic that isn’t so happy I mean the song is legit about generational trauma but she refers it to apples lol
Have to disagree with you on the deluxe thing. I feel like when artist waits too long to put out deluxe tracks, it becomes hard to envision them as an extension of an album's world. Case in point, GUTS spilled, fwd: emails I can't send, C,XOXO magic city edition, future nostalgia moonlight edition etc. Even though I like the songs Feather, Baby Pink, So American etc, I hardly think of them as parts of those respective albums or eras. They more so feel like droplets or singles from a separate EP to me. Not to mention the initial hype is long dead if you wait on the deluxe. Hence the streams are noticeably low on the deluxe tracks in such cases minus the one song the artist pushes as the single of course. On the contrary, Charli releasing the 3 deluxe tracks a couple days after the album makes it so much easier to build off on the same album hype while distinguishing the original 15 tracks from the three leftovers. To me, Guess still feels like a part of the brat era (even if it doesn't appear on the standard 15 track concept album) rather than a droplet or extension released months later which would've made it feel completely separated it from the original work. I think a nice medium between the two would be to bring back reissues: think Kesha’s Animal/Cannibal, Gaga's Fame/Fame Monster, Lana's Born To Die/Paradise and recently Sza's SOS/LANA or even Taylor’s vault tracks on her rerecordings. I think having an 8-12 track extension would both justify the long break, while making the new songs feel like both an extension of the original era as well as a brand new continuation project meant to further (or re-examine) the themes of the original work. Personally, I think such reissues need to become a thing again rather than 3 or 4 deluxe tracks being released months later with zero noise.
20:00 yup, agreed. Don’t really care for Katy Perry anymore (or the 143 album), but she had an appropriate amount of time between the standard and the deluxe.
I am looking forward to Leigh Anne album the most out of the little mix girls. She has it imo. I’m also looking forward to Harry Styles releasing another album.
About the EPs, it is definitely absent in the mainstream pop side but i believe is over done on kpop now We need more kpop full length studio album with a cohesive sound/concept The latest we have like that is right place wrong person by rm
I'm not gonna make a prediction but my wish is that the Rock and R&B genres have a moment similar to what Country has been having recently. I would love the mainstream to be full of the variety we had in the late 90s, early 00s.
We need a boy band like One Direction (minus the controlling label and managers, of course). In the past we had so many boy bands, 5 SOS and Backstreet boys are a few I could think of.
It makes me sad that a lot of people didn’t like Megan’s self titled 🥲 I personally throughly enjoyed both acts and I’m looking forward to her ACT III to see what it contributes to the trilogy this year, Wish more people enjoyed her artistry.
I'd like to see more songs about friendship break ups. My favourite singer, Mahalia, has a song called "In The Club", which does explore that theme but I need more of it 😅 I'm also off to see Flo on tour next year and tickets were only 30 pounds 🥳
I think the one thing that kept flo from gaining popularity is the fact that a lot of people think they're trying too hard to be a y2k girl group. I'll be honest I slept on them for 2 whole years because of that reason, and I just recently 2 days ago listened to their debut album and finally got the hype. I feel like the more people start to realise that they are an actual good r&b group and not just clones of the 2000s era is gonna be when they will finally get more media attention.

HTG was lowkey a flop and need her to have her brat/motomami moment cause it’s well over due. Also I need Bree runway to have her moment too, her music is so cool and is like if Azealia banks released music on a regular basis. Also need kali Uchis to put her drunken babble mixtape on streaming
Omg THANK YOU for what you said about Lana's music on her last few albums! It is a salve for sore eyes, I have been struggling for years, amidst all the praise, to find someone with this opinion... I also do not get along with her minimalist folk prods/whispered vocals; what I love about Lana's early albums is that she has soft but powerful vocals and imo it almost seems as if her voice has lost its orchestral/cinematic/dramatic quality on 'Did You Know That There is A Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard'... I do not mean to say that she does not sing as well on this album because a lot of the songs are more laid back... She did such songs pre-'Did You Know' but they never fell flat as they do now imo; i.e. compare her vocal tones on 'Yayo' and 'Kintsugi.' I believe that ever since working with Antonoff she has been inspired by Swift and vice versa but has lost that cinematic and larger than life vocal quality which make her songs like 'Cola,' 'Black Beauty,' 'Music To Watch Boys To' or 'White Mustang' (among maaaaaany others) so unique. And I also NEED Kali Uchis to release something: Por Vida on physical media, I almost need it in my veins...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! HOPE 2025 IS JADE'S YEAR I JUMPED WHEN I SAW HER IN YOUR THUMBNAIL!!!
@@lauraboredom2168 and we’re getting a new song soon??!!!??
Anticipating a love album form Olivia Rodrigo especially since ended with one, also a joint tour with billie and Lana would be cool.
Not me clicking as soon as I see the pop up notification of Naomi posting
As we should 😌
AAA IS THE MOMENT!
Happy new year Naomi. Thanks for all the vídeos. Your love for music is an inspiration❤
I hope we have more meaningful music, but also a good funny pop. I'm waiting for new álbuns from Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Shakira and Sabrina.
@@dinasilva9263 thank you!!! Happy new year! I wonder what Xtina is up to, I feel like she was realllly present this past year
@@naomi.cannibal oh i really hope we get a new álbum from Christina.
I hope Gaga’s album will be big
I want to see Doechii join the Grand National Tour with Sza and Kendrick!
14:11 I will never forgive the pop boys, especially Ed Sheeran, from keeping Into You by Ariana out of the top ten in 2016.
RED VELVET MENTIONNNN😭😭😭😭
WE NEED PROPER RNB BACK
When I'm older I want to be a R&B/Pop singer but sigh. I can't go to vocal classes or even get a mic so I'm stuck
Happy New Year, Naomi!! Hoping for good vibes in 2025 and more good music!! 2024 had a lot of good pop music and good kpop releases too!
I never really thought of the joint tours before, but now that you've mentioned it, it would make at least me more inclined to buy that ticket.
the thing about say now is that i need them to release an EP or album and more promo too
I’m excited for whatever Doja has for us
Tyla will surprise many in 2025 and that forced hate will come back again.
Need a frank ocean comeback
yes!! we need more time with the album releases 😩 especially when artists sell tickets for the tour & the album isnt out yet. It needs to marinate 🤌🏽
Happy New Year bestie 🎉
@@nicolesherman8974 Happy new year bestiiiie 🫶🏾
I think we might have a comeback of electronic sounds inspired by early 2010's trends. With gaga, madeon and hell even skrillex releasing, people's nostalgia for the club increasing, and the popularity of Charlie xcx and The Dare I think is just natural to head in those directions
i don't think retro pop (synth pop, house, disco) is done. I think there is a lot more to come actually.
If rock is going to come back I think it will be new wave.
the sample on jade's song literally sounds like her singing 😭😭
I’m a simple guy, I see gaga in thumbnail, i watch
I think AI gets called out more because it's unnecessary and most people are already against war for other reasons
the reason is because it really does have an outsized impact that doesn't really compare to anything else in tech. training a single model puts as much carbon in the air as 125 round trip flights from NYC to Beijing. it's unfathomable.
the entire meat industry and air travel are obviously huge polluters, but that's an entire industry. just one fraction of AI uses SO MUCH energy and puts so much carbon in the air and it's so new. we're nowhere near full implementation and it's already deeply unsustainable. it's also so unnecessary and being pushed on us by force. people don't need meat, but they do need food and the meat industry is tied into the large agricultural industry. people need to travel. people don't need to put tons of carbon into the air to make a shitty album cover with stolen art.
i honestly want to see a more political aspect of music that could still continue what we had in 2024, but not political to the point of speaking out just on the law. i want to hear music that can be made for a good time, but has a deeper influence or meaning behind it, like the modern indie pop version of ethel cain’s “american teenager.” i want music that shows a new perspective on the world right now, while also sounding like escapism
That song is so good and it shows a great balance of escapism but also dealing with a difficult important topic
I’m still flabbergasted that Obama had this in one of his end of year fav songs like did he not read the room lmao
I also think a song like Apple did a great job mixing an upbeat tune with a topic that isn’t so happy I mean the song is legit about generational trauma but she refers it to apples lol
You’re so right about about the EPs I feel like the last one that really had me excited was after school by Melanie
the best inspiring, pop song that’s written about gen z mental health issues has to be ‘Generation - RLY’ but everyone let them flop this year. :(.
i need newjeans to make it out of this legal battle! neeeed that debut album
BTS 2025!!!! LSF world tour Ayra Starr US tour and new album - REMA and Ayrra joint tour??
About the EPs, it is definitely absent in the mainstream pop side but i believe is over done on kpop now
We need more kpop full length studio album with a cohesive sound/concept
The latest we have like that is right place wrong person by rm
I'm not gonna make a prediction but my wish is that the Rock and R&B genres have a moment similar to what Country has been having recently. I would love the mainstream to be full of the variety we had in the late 90s, early 00s.
6:48 Taylor is an example of this, she averaged around 4ish minutes on ttpd
And she always gives us a bridge
Great example that not every song has to be more than 3 mins long 💀
Happy new year beauty!!♥️
Let's go Naomi posted!
If you like Sza’s Kitchen, which is soft rock, listen to Pin by Lucky Daye. He also does a lot of 70s & 80s funk.
What is some good K-pop to get into as a first time listener? I need a good couple albums to check out, I’m interested 😇
Try BoA's Kiss My Lips
We need a boy band like One Direction (minus the controlling label and managers, of course). In the past we had so many boy bands, 5 SOS and Backstreet boys are a few I could think of.
Need an OT12 LOONA comeback (not sure if that’s even in the cards legally tbh) and an Yves/Pink Pantheress collab
15:54 Rosalía also basically confirmed she’ll be releasing an album this year, something we were def waiting for!!
Flo will grow in popularity and the hate train now will build a strong fandom
wait what hate train??? who is hating on my girls?!?
@@cierrabernae Many people cause of their lyrics that's about s*x which to me is insane because many do this but somehow their race is what determines whether it is appropriate or not.

Patiently counting down for OT7 BTS to return, praying for a JHope tour, need NewJeans to level out because they constantly produce heat, Sabrina! Sabina! Sabrina! Frank Ocean pleeeease come back. I need esapism music😩🙏🏾 I'm still looping Tyler the Creator. He ate that album up.
Please tell me you have listened to jessie ware!! she's a disco pop girly, basically an older sexier version of dua lipa but with a soft voice. she's sosososo good. if you haven't heard her listen to what's your pleasure deluxe and it will change your life!

17:51 haaate that shit, tbh! I mean, happy for the people who like different versions, but I personally can’t stand it. It’s just bloating the artists Apple Music/Spotify/whatever else page.
2025 Wants - LIVE ALBUMS (seems like every single singer is on tour but yet a live album is never dropped), LANA DEL REY TO MAKE A FULLY PRODUCED ALBUM, I know how you Lana fans get when ppl speak on her last 4 albums but god I’m tired of the folk and country music, GIVE ME THE TRAP LANA, like I miss the days when you’d play a Lana song and it felt like an immersive experience. Need her to make a honeymoon, LFL, uv type album before this decade is over. RINA SAWAYAMA’S resurrection. HTG was lowkey a flop and need her to have her brat/motomami moment cause it’s well over due. Also I need Bree runway to have her moment too, her music is so cool and is like if Azealia banks released music on a regular basis. BRING BACK 60S POP, ik we’ve had a 70s/80s revival but I want a 60s pop revival like in the early 2010s when Amy winehouse was around, like song like Boom by Anjulie, or Why don’t you love me by Beyonce. Also need kali Uchis to put her drunken babble mixtape on streaming
Also shocked that Sabrina Carpenter has yet to release a Short and Sweet deluxe considering how big the era has been.
3:01 Camila Cabello did it perfectly on B.O.A.T :D
Lil nas x label is not promoting him correctly. I always waiting for whats next. I like tyla to. Apt apt apt. With rosie. Dua Lipa i loved her era in 2024.
I want to see more love songs & more bilingual artists
