I would happily have an Analog / digital watch. Especially when it’s made by my favorite watch manufacturer Breitling.

Great video! My Orient Ray II has a similar story to tell. It’s been riding on my wrist for the past two years everyday at work (Union Carpenter). Most of that time has been doing form work 50-60 hours per week. It still keeps time at +7 secs a day.

I’ve own my SKX009 now for about 4 years now and just this week received my new old stock SKX011J from Japan 🇯🇵. I own 14 Seiko’s and love them all . To me Seiko makes the best watch that money 💰 can buy 👍🏻💯

I understand your point of view about micro brands but Alpina is not what I’d call a micro brand. They’ve been around since 1883 and are currently owned by the citizen group.

I have a Seiko Solar analogue Quartz 'Sky Pilot' which has been long discontinued. I don't think many were sold. It has some rather serious design flaws which I believe is why it was discontinued. It was intended as a solar competitor to the SNA411P1. Great idea! But, it didn't make it. It LOOKS and FUNCTIONS well - if you overlook the obvious design flaws. I purchased it at 1/2 price not knowing why it was being discontinued. When I realized I sort of bought a banana (as opposed to an out-right lemon) I decided to place it in my rotation. Now I have another problem: I can't get it off of my wrist! I take it off and it just 'pops back on' somehow. It's easy to read in both day and night, super bright lume, correct within a few seconds monthly, classic design, unidirectional rotating bezel, chronograph, alarm... How do I get this thing off??? I can't stop wearing it!!

Who cares what anyone thinks , it’s an extremely high tech watch from a respected brand making watches since 1884 so enjoy it ! As an aside it’s definitely more reliable with timekeeping than any automatic and I think sometimes we forget the primary function of a watch is to properly tell time not impress others

Agree, the lack of AR coating, particularly busy dial and the split in the bracelet meant I didn’t love this piece.

I like knives too. I normally carry a modern locking knife and a small traditional slip joint knife daily. I ordered a Seiko 5 with the 7s36 a couple of days ago. I think that is the same movement that is in your monster. I think it will be a great watch. It had an unusual dial and bezel. I think it was a Japan only model because the only videos I can find on it are in Japanese Thanks for the video.

1:47 I gotta go with the customer on this one. I freaking hate it when anyone in customer service tells me the same. I get you were trying to help by telling him it was cheaper to just buy another. What I do in this situation to not piss people off is I ask them first if the item they want to repair holds any sentimental value to them. Depending on their answer is how I reply.

The AI at Amazon is starting to learn my taste and my mother’s taste in watches. After I had placed an order for a Golden Hour watch for $25 the system immediately recommended a Lavender colored Timex Weekender Snoopy that was on sale for $35. I immediately canceled the purchase and bought the Snoopy instead. That was back in October of 2023 and she hasn’t stopped wearing it since. Back in November the system started recommending Timex to me. A Waterbury Chronograph popped up for $50 that I liked but wasn’t to sure about it. My sister who doesn’t care for watches told me to just get it because the price seemed reasonable so I did. It’s been my go to watch since then. I checked the price yesterday on Amazon and it was shipped and sold by them at $135. 😂 I got lucky on this one.

Congrats on your award, that's awesome. I had a similar experience when I dinged a Bulova bezel and was told by every watchmaker and Bulova that I can't buy the bezel, only a whole new watch. Enjoyed your three categories of watches and I'd add a fourth, the shock and awe watch, which I experienced twice. That's when you're minding your own business but happen to walk by a watch case in a store and a watch stops you in your tracks. You know what happens next (one of them I wore every day for 20 years.)

I agree with everything, other than you defining Alipna as a micro brand. Alpina is a historic swiss watch brand dating back over a hundred years and currently owned by Citizen.

i have the bb58 and also the tank large.. theyre both amazing watches. one thing i would say that took me by surprise about the tank though.. was actually i preferred the tank solo with the flat surfaces on the top in the end.. it feels slightly more masculine but also reflects light better and makes it feel a bit more premium.. the newer must model seemed more refined to me at the start, bit in practise i preferred the solo. same goes with the rolex batman, i thought i wanted the jubilee, but the oyster was more useful on a day to day basis...strangely, i found the forstner jubilee on the bb58 to be an amazing way to scratch the jubilee itch, because the retro feeling of the pairing just seemed to gel well for me. but in any case, nice choices man, and im sure youll love the tank, its a must (no pun intended)

In my middle age I have understood it is better to buy timeless goods that you never sell. Not fashionable designs, but ones that stand the test of time and can be repaired. A Cartier tank manual wind watch would seem expensive at the time of purchase, but if you only bought it once you would look back and see how inflation had made a mockery of any initial anxiety to buy. You can apply it to a car or clothes. Fashions exploit us to consume, choosing timeless puts you back in control.
