A Farewell to Kings!

Moving Pictures is such an important album. To the fans it marks the end of 1 phase of the band. To the band it marks the start of the second phase. And that’s really what it is - the bridge from one genre to the next.

My favourite Rush track - just amazing from start to finish and then the lyrics… The incredible thing is that they used to record the tracks in one take in those days - not piece together a series of clips. So we are hearing it as they played it. They wrote, practiced and then recorded.

Well it has been a year + but this song helped me get through a great many things

I appreciate all the musical analysis, but really, all I care about is the lyrical meaning of this song...I find it secondary (but great). Listeninig to the three sections of life in the song are poignant for me.

What a gorgeous track. So lush sounding. Absolutely evocative of that feeling of suburban isolation, knowing you're not living your best life, wishing you could be somewhere else.

I notice your smile every time you hear Neal Peart offbeat Drumming. He was an absolute legend.

Some of the 80's Rush albums are great to listen to on headphones. They really embraced the production values of the day and became more experimental studio musicians. You can hear the influences of The Police and U2. Hold your Fire was the only weak one for me and I really didn't get many albums other than A Show of Hands (a must have) until Presto came out and I love that album.

I’ve watched several of your Rush reactions now and I’ve been enjoying your analysis. Agree that Red Lenses sticks out a bit on the album, though it’s not really *that* much of a departure. Aside from it just being really cool, I find it a nice break from the heaviness of the rest of p/g. It’s always been a favorite of mine. And the album is one of my favorites as a complete work.

Tension, release, tension, release, soaring high, release, tension. This song literally defines Grace Under Pressure. The solo is absolutely amazing, possibly Alex's best... it's so clever... he hardly ever plays a 4th but it still floats so effortless. The lyrics define living in the Cold War era, people sitting in their homes, soaking up the cathode rays (TV for you youngsters), reeling by on celluloid (how clever is that lyric?) and a constant in the back of your mind is the realisation that all our achievements could vanish almost instantly... something captured by the fire and brimstone guitar at the end.

This song defines Grace Under Pressure... in any way you want it defined!

The intro to this song was the intro to a TV investigation show...I'm having trouble recalling the name of that show...I'm sure somebody out there remembers

This was the first album I ever purchased. Brings back a lot of good memories. Beginning to end just fantastic. The flow from song to song is incredible. Something we have lost in the digital age.

Probably my favorite Rush Album! To me, Rush should be held in the same esteem as Zeppelin or The Beatles. They are F-K-N legends!
