    Don't worry about the solos, in the four tracks left there's three good ones

    You're certainly not alone, in missing Alex. On subsequent albums, even Alex missed Alex! Personally, I think side 1 is great, but side 2 takes it to a different level. Just my opinion.
    P.S. We had 'sides', in my day!

    You'll get used to it, Alex is just finding new area's to express the depth of the way RUSH is begining to expand the spaces in new places of their compositions. 🤯

    Don't worry, Tim! Guitar leads are coming! If 3 out of 4 on side 1 were less in the way of solos, then side two has 3 our of 4 WITH killer guitar leads! Woo!

    There's definitely some reggae influence on this album, signals & started on moving pictures with vital signs

    Tim, you're not alone - even Alex missed Alex during the 'synth' era of Rush! Regardless, he still found way to add his various flourishes, textures & atmospherics throughout. As others have mentioned, it will come.
    This song is an absolute groove track! I was blown away when I got this album and heard this (and of course, interest was piqued seeing the track subtext - Fear Trilogy Part 1, linking it back to Signals - The Weapon - Part 2 & Moving Pictures - Witch Hunt - Part 1). It completed the trifecta - and I wasn't disappointed.
    Indeed, Geddy is OFF THE CHAIN with his bass playing here!!

    I love Alex kept with the motif of the chordal solos on this album. Really fit the songs and mood of the album

    When you are the most talented band in human history, you can play whatever you want. Hence, the reggae influence. Another masterpiece by RUSH. Doesn't it get boring listening to so many great RUSH songs?! Ha! They are so diversified as a band, they don't ever do the same thing twice. As far as guitar solos go.....remember what Neil Peart always used to say "Serve the song and serve the music". In other words, if a song doesn't require a guitar solo, don't stick one in there if it would ruin the vibe of the song. Enjoy your journey!

    Never caught the similarities between this song and the Men at Work song, but it makes sense now that you mention it. I can imagine that Alex and the guys might have listened to Men at Work. They were fans of the Police, and Neil was into Boy George. That's probably why they phased out of the prog rock era and into a prog-influenced new wave sound.

      You're wrong! I'll name 5 great Alex solos in the 80s and 90s: kid gloves, emotion detector, turn the page, cut to the chase and cold fire. And there are plenty more in that time period.

    • @emobassist
      @emobassist Год назад

      That maybe true but can you honestly you get a guitar solo amung the likes of the camera eye and cold fire was a return of the solo from the 80s to the mid 2000s the guitar solo took a back seat
