This is the song that first comes to mind when I think of the saddest Rush songs. This song, in a way, has taken on a new meaning in recent years due to Neil Peart’s death. It just hits hard knowing when listening to this, he’s gone. RIP Neil Peart 😔
I think it's the break in the middle. When Rush dedicated a section of the song to "a violin jazz freak out" even within a sentimental song. It's what made this era of Rush so amazing, IMO.
This is one of those songs that I wish was just a bit (well, alright - a lot 😉) longer - always seems to be over far, far too soon. I remember my surprise when instead of an Alex solo there was this crazy, melodic, wailing of electric violin just pulling on each and every emotion and nerve. So many great tracks on this album, simply brim full of favourites ❤😎
Love this song, love this album......for me,.....IMHO.....this was the last GREAT Rush Album.......Grace under Pressure had good moments but from then on Rush headed headlong into their "synth" era..........for me this is the last great album by the finest rock trio ever.......they went from that to merely a great band......so enjoy this while you can!!!!
I note some are saying (on part 2) that it's been blocked, but it is still available in the UK, 30 minutes later. Whether that persists, I can't say. Just FYI.
Damn, that violin! Ben Fucking Mink is supernatural.

One of Rush most beautiful songs. This is my everyday album by RUSH.
Im only 30 and this song makes me emotional. Having watched my grandparents and my dad go through the aging/dying process. Very moving.

Sadder still to watch it die, than never to have known it. Great lyrics.
Violin Solo is beautiful!
Shivers every time.
This one gets me everytime I listen to it. Peart's lyrics and the brilliant Ben Mink on the violin
This is a favorite, always gets me.
It was nice to watch u have the same kind of life changing moment. Beautiful song. Welcome sir.
Seeing this song live one of the greatest experiences ive ever had at a concert. Big shout out to Jonathan Dinklage who crushed the Violin part
There is so much going on here its hard to grasp it all they are so good. Seen rush 5 times amazing every time never disapointed

The second verse is a reference to Earnest Hemmingway, I understand.
Rush rules😊

Am watching this in the UK right now
Ps, the violin solo is perfect, no Alex needed.
:)
Contrary to most Rush fans whilst I like the song overall I don't like the violin solo, I think Alex should have done something there.
I’m not going to lie, I didn’t like the violin solo at first when I heard it, but I think I’m more forgiving of it the more times I hear ‘Losing It’.
What? You're crazy
I've tried so hard to like it but I just can't - don't like the electric violin at all, ugh! 😂
