The bass is on fire, and I love the various tones Alex uses on this album. At this point, being the consummate gearhead, Alex had a huge tonal palette he utilized.
And that’s how Rush went out - with a BANG! Many bands would do anything to put out material like this once in their careers, but here’s Rush lighting it up on album 19 after 38 years.
Great reaction Jone!! This song was an instant love upon first hearing it...then I heard them play it live and it went to the stratosphere! Rush could always do 'heavy', but this album really amped that up to 11! That bassline during the mid-section is fire...the whole song is, but I love my bass...so this takes it. Alex & Neil are off the chain too... Rush went out on top with this swan song album release - Clockwork Angels is it!! RIP Neil...
This song is from their last album Clockwork Angels. This song and the whole album is a banger ! 🔥 Their sound got heavier on their later albums. They came back full circle to heavier roots but with a much more expansive and polished vibe. Songs Caravan from the Time Machine Tour live in Cleveland The way the wind blows from the Snakes and Arrows tour Stick it out Official music video Cheers
I like Geddy's voice on this album, too; at this stage in the band's career, he was struggling to hit those high notes, and I really like how the tracks here were composed in a lower key that better utilized the lower end of his vocal range, producing a deeper, richer sound; and as one who grew up during the synth era of the 1980s, I find this cleaner, harder sound a refreshing change. In addition to The Garden and Caravan, another performance from the album that I'd like you to see is The Wreckers from the Clockwork Angels Tour, with its cautionary lyrics about things not always being what they appear to be, and the accompanying string ensemble adding a dramatic flourish at just the right time. Have a great day, and Rush on!

I have been a diehard fan of Rush since I was 12 years old in 1980, this is a top five song for me

Very nice too see you doing Rush again!
This song is a Banger and glad you got to it.
They do it incredibly live as well!!
Their last album. They went out on top and when I heard live how they threw everything they had into those songs, I knew it was goodbye.

I was one of those recommenders!
Thanks for getting back to it.
@SnowDogisVictorious Think I heard a wee touch of ByTor and the Snow dog in that solo👍
Clockwork Angels is a masterpiece. it grows on you over time. Halo Effect and the Garden are the best two songs.
I wish this would have been the last song on Clockwork Angels instead of the Garden
