You’re listening and thinking “holy shit, how is one person doing all this?” And then, a new sound appears in a space you didn’t think was big enough for it.
The 30 seconds you missed were the fade out. It's a reaaaaaaaaly long fade out, but you can hear the song's end during the fadeout. Also, these songs translated live so well even with all the electronics/events that happen in the music. The album was way ahead of its time with the mix of electronic/synthwave and hard rock. Didn't hear stuff like this until the 2010s. They pulled most of this album out for their tour in 2012/2013. So think modern guitar tones with all the electronics. It was sickkkkk.
I had very eclectic tastes when this album came out. I would listen to a whole mix of bands - Rush, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Marillion, Ultravox, Thin Lizzy and Spandau Ballet
The intro to this song was the intro to a TV investigation show...I'm having trouble recalling the name of that show...I'm sure somebody out there remembers
Don't be silly, dude, of course you're worthy of being worth waiting for, otherwise why would I have subscribed in the first place? I don't know but I suspect that I have been a Rush fan for longer than you have been alive, and that is a good thing. It's a good thing because you give me a new pair of ears to listen to Rush through, that makes the old and familiar fresh again. That's why I subscribed and keep on following. Welcome back and have yourself a very good new year!! 😎🚀🎸✌️
Everyone has their own musical tastes, however to be critical over the musicianship over another person’s work, then I better be just as good or not better to give such a review. With that said, when it comes to Rush, I might be lucky to carry equipment tour boxes, other than that, Rush is at a different level for the length of time 3 best friends got together.
Yep, just never got excited about this one either. Again, not a bad song but it just never was crazy about it. As far as listening to the full album, I love that, but I kind of like having the part 2 reaction for every song like you was doing it before.
You only missed a few extra seconds of fade-out. But isn’t this a beautiful song? This album was the first where I didn’t physically learn the drum parts; I left them imbedded into memory instead. Neil was heavily incorporating electronic drums, and I couldn’t replicate these sounds, and it just didn’t sound right on an entirely acoustic drum kit. So I just committed these parts to memory, rather than trying to replicate them. Absolutely lovely album, and also the first Rush album I stopped drumming to.
This was really the last RUSH album that I liked. After that the band was dead to me. But they had a good run of 12 albums from their debut and are still my favorite band ahead of Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Neil Young and Rolling Stones
You gave up too soon. Many many great songs after this album. Maybe not front to back albums like this one. But many great songs you may have missed out on....I have two older brothers who "gave up" on Rush after Moving Pictures. I was several years younger so Grace Under Pressure was my first Rush album and concert. First of 22. 20 years later I got my brothers to a concert and they both couldn't believe what they had missed. Live and on album. We saw several tours together after that. Even front row in Toronto for the Time Machine Tour...and until the end which I am grateful for.
For me, the last two albums were a return to form if you ever feel like dipping your toe in again. I think the lads had a lot of turmoil in the middle and it`s not as solid. it`s the same for me with Level 42. after the staring at the sun album, it just seemed to be running over old ground and i didn`t connect.
@@TheCentralScrutinizerAgain I have listened to all the albums and stand by my comment that I don't like anything after Power Windows. And Geddy's voice sounded worse as he aged.
@@lerxst7050 I didn't give up too soon - I DON'T LIKE ANY OF THE LATER ALBUMS. It constantly baffles me that people can't comprehend that we all have different tastes in music, and is so annoying when people try to tell me what I should like. Even then based on their first 12 albums RUSH is my favorite group
@@reallymysterious4520 Yep, music is subjective. I'm the total opposite of your tastes. I find the first 4 records to be Rush's weakest link although all Rush is very good to great. To me they really hit their stride on Permanent Waves. Permanent Waves through Power Windows is pinnacle Rush IMO, but records like Presto, RTB, and Counterparts are still better than most band's best records.
Geddy himself feels Clockwork Angels is a career highlight. Personally, Vapor Trails is my favourite of the last three, despite its production flaws and the unfinished feel of some of the songs. I'd say it's the most live-sounding of all their albums since Moving Pictures.
As a drummer, I have always loved this track
And to see the fantastic view of the drum from the air in the official video.

It's great to see you back and continuing the Rush reactions! PW is an amazing album!

Just the sounds of this track, so very satisfying!
The hooks of the lyrics!
"Under Northern Lights
Or a canopy of stars."
Just so captivating.

Your excellent banter about PW gave me a new descriptor for this perfect RUSH album. It is STYLISTIC!
My favorite album.
So quick! :) Yes, I like this format just fine as I think it more closely matches how people would have originally heard the album to begin with.
Hey my friend, seen this tour in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada!
I remember when this video premiered on MTV. My sister and I were at home, but my brother was at work so he missed it.
Glad to see ya back Tim...Keep RUSHin
Love this Album!
I really like your part 2s of songs but on this album they're really hard to find
he did it all as on vid
The five minute Permanent Waves
Keep up the good work

You need to listen ţo the weapon on gup thats dynamic
missing 30 seconds of the outro
yeah up to this point the cohesion was rock solid and patchy after this. (bar the last two albums imo)

What about Alex?
Poor song to end a poor album. I loved all albums prior to this then the last two. Bit like the Blaze Bailey era of Maiden.
No Grey Poupon for you! Only cheap WalMart house brand expired condiments!
its a brill song
@@DethThrasher1 but I bet you could name 100+ Rush songs way better than this

My least favorite Rush song. I loved PW, but this track never connected.
This song was actually the intro to the original 48 hours news program and then they changed it later
The show was 1986 with Connie Chung. I flipped out when I first heard the intro, my dad yelled at my mom "see, this isn't devil music"!
