DJI FPV - GPS Positioning in Extreme Wind
See how well the DJI FPV holds its position in extreme winds.
In 80 km/h winds it only moved ~250 mm laterally and ~100 mm vertically.
Onboard recording was stopped as this was a landing at the end of a flight. Will run the test again when the conditions are similar.

Fuel exhaustion event involving an Aero Commander 500-S, ~6 km east of Bathurst Airport, New South Wales, Australia. During climb, both engines failed due to fuel exhaustion and the pilot conducted a forced landing in this paddock. Both engines look like they had flameouts, which could be a result of fuel leaks?

Flight parameters broadcasted, agencies notified and airspace clear at time of flight. There are a lot of pre-flight procedures involved in these tests. The greenery looks so lush but it is Townsville - the ground cover is extremely rugged. It’s usually brown but this shot was taken during the wet season.

Amazing, the experts always say to stay 10 meters above the water incase it interferes with the flight system. Would love to see the goggles view side by side next flight so us geeks can see the inflight stats 🍻
Low water flight takes a bit of practice to adjust orientation. I’m certainly not an expert at it. Trust your visuals not the VPS software, as the water reflection messes with the infrared sensors.

Is this with the Avata 2 ?. if so, are you using manual mode with the fpv controller or the flight stick ? I always worry about flying over water, 10 meters seems to be the minimum height just incase ?
Hey David, it's the DJI FPV for this flight. The Avata cannot handle high winds - too small and would be too bumpy for a long range ocean flight. Typically only use manual for high altitude and cloud surfing (faster descent rate to get home). I've tried the motion controller but it's not my jam - too used to the RC. I find flying just above the water in manual a bit too risky. Prefer sport mode for that. I have a video almost ready of a long range flight 1 metre above water. Maybe publish that one by tomorrow or next. Thanks for watching bud. How did you stumble across my video?
@@Mars2go Was looking for max altitude tests (thought I would try resurrect my old phantom 3, since it can be modified to bypass restrictions). I'm glad the authorities are not cracking down here is Aus yet like in the US with all the drone id BS. Ah DJI FPV (original ?) or using the googles 3 with Air 3 (which I have with Avata 2 , find it amazing given the flight time, but hope DJI add more control options for mastershots etc in goggles

I wouldn't be advertising the fact you flew in a "no fly zone' due to the proximity to the domestic airport and the RAAF Base, you not even close to legal flying area.
I’m a fixed wing, helicopter & drone pilot. If you are in the U.S., I hope the FAA finds and prosecutes you. If you’re in a country that allows this dangerous behavior, it should not be allowed. Aircraft above 10,000 feet are not speed limited whereas below 10,000 feet, 250 knots is the limit. Continue doing this for your childish thrills and there will be consequences.

I didn't know it was possible to get clearance to go that high.. or any BVLOS flights, but that is an FAA rule and I don't know where this was filmed. I'll give the benefit of the doubt, considering the description says it was an approved flight.. instead of just complaining about it.

Airspace rules are there for a reason. Planes are everywhere at 13,000 feet, and they can't see your tiny little drone. No altitude test is worth getting someone killed.
The description says it was an approved flight. Not every country has as strict of rules as the US does.
Unless you're near a populated area, there are not planes everywhere at 13000 ft. Get your facts right.

This is the kind of junk that makes life harder on us drone pilots where the FAA or just local laws have to come in and make more rules for the rest of us that follow the rules. @@cheifowethu 400 ft is max elevation for us drone pilots. Unless you have a 107 and you're flying up to 400ft higher than the rooftop of the building you are flying over. There are restrictions to airspace and laws we all need to follow as a professional pilot. The FAA catches you like they did another pilot that is being forced to pay a fine of $82,000 dollars is no trip bro!

In this case: 4230m. ;-) 120m should be the limit. Afaik they don't fly higher. Only some of the older ones without updates from a certain point on. My Mini 3 Pro still should, but I wouldn't test it.
