They are there to collect money??? I've been to many Orthodox parishes and monasteries and not even ONCE was I asked for money. They ALL had a tiny little humble box in a corner somewhere where nobody can see you easily and if you want, you can put money in there. Meanwhile they have candles out that you can freely grab to light for prayers, and they FEED US in Trapeza after the services, and give out free coffee and cookies, and give out free prayer cards or postcard size images of saints, etc... What a strange thing to say.
You have different experiences with Orthodox churches than me and my family. That's all.
Icons are just a physical form of expression so you can only express physical things by painting icons. Because you cannot understand the happiness that is hidden inside the bodies of the saints and inside the body of everyone not truly believes in Christ.

Well, it's not so in theory but it is so in practice. Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, Protestantism and Islam are all orthodox. Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism are all orthoprax. See the difference? The first group is like, "We have the truth and the only truth and everyone else is false!" The second group is like, "We are looking for the truth."
This completely contradicts Christ… you’re literally talking about teachings outside of Christianity. Absolute heresy. Presenting Hinduism as Christianity. Absolute insanity.

The word "god" in Paganism (and Hinduism) means "deity". So it includes all kinds of deities, including angels. Christians and Muslims don't understand Paganism. I have no good reason to believe that gnomes exist, but small people have existed in the past. For example, there was a species known as homo floresiensis.

From a protestant, I’ve understood the icons are suppose to look “plain” not unhappy. They are meant to leave the beauty to God and not focus on outward things.

The athanasian creed was not written by athanasius according to scholars, it originated in the western church in gaul in the late 5th or 6th century. Athanasius died by the early 4th century. The athanasian creed is fake and the eastern orthodox church only accepts the niceno-constantinopolitan creeds.

They're not necessarily frowning and they don't do it to collect money. It's because they show true love to God.
