I wish I could finish watching this video as I am new to Tacticus (but have been playing Rivengard for over 2 years). I cannot get past just 1 minute because of the very annoying electronic voice. Have the script read by a real person and I’ll watch the video. I’m very interested in the game but cannot go through 14 minutes of this voice. Sorry.

I STRONGLY believe, if youve spent more than $100 in game you should get ALL the characters +some. This is getting rediculious

Excellent news! It is an excellent game!
Just maybe the new system tried to improve on data efficiency without overdoing it from the start. what do i mean. for the jar system the game had to keep track of every resource in the game so there are around 900missions to farm from and for every mission you had to keep track of how much balls are in the jar. with "millions" of players (as advertized) and probably done on server side to avoid manipulation thats a lot of jars to keep track of. So they switched to the new system to get rid of that necessity. OF COURSE they didnt actually want the players to gain anything so they were "lowballing" from the beginning because if people complained, well to bad. Imorovements can be made. But if they overshot from the first time, they wouldnt be able to downgrade the system because then poeple wouldve gone mad as hell. So what we are seeing is a money saving effort on their server part rather then an improvement on drop rates for the players IMHO At least the last patch brought the drop rates back up to normal but nothing really improved. At least Im seeing not as many 1-2 shard drops on Incisus anymore.

@@HMHo-ku6pi agree and with new chars every 4 weeks they should increase drop rates or adjust the materials needed for older chars down. Newer players will never be able to keep up with this garbage system

I think they should increase the droprates by about ~5% or so. I think this would be close enough to whats current and feel better as a player. I also think they should frontload the droprates on rare/epic/legendary items more. Lower the mercy system increase but increase the base chance. It feels bad when you deplete a node with 1 drop or no drops. I think the mercy should guarantee a drop with 10 plays. At the 10th, the mercy system should be 100% always

I am playing the game for almost two years now nonstop. I can say that the latest patch has the worst chances to drop any upgrade. Athough for the legendary ones seems like a little better

Many ppl figured out old jar system and once they got successful pulls for the day, there was no point in wasting energy on guaranteed fails. That means, ppl buy energy refills less and Snowprint get less money. That's the only reason for this change. Just look at the prices for energy and how little free energy we get (20 energy for tokens once a week in a shop, I feel spoiled).

Except it did not work that way at all. The guaranteed fails were waiting for you the next day
yea that's the wrong assumption Of course people did it that way when they pulled "the last time" on that particular item. I (almost) always did all pulls, knowing that I would get the bad pulls anyway next day.
Mercy system just gives me a "fucking finally" feeling. Followed by the eye-roll of knowing my drop chance just went down again. Sucks

even they don't bring back jar system they can simply increase mercy interventions without lowering the original drop rate, but they choose to lower the drop rate to add more mercy interventions, making it unchanged.
Thanks again for doing this, nothing beats hard data. Good to see it's proven that the devs continue to be full of crap over this and that the players experience is correct.

I like the idea and im sure it took a lot of time to record all those, but sadly 100 each isnt enough to really say much about the true rates from thise numbers.

@@DBPreacherTacticus Experience wise I'm too new a player and didn't really experience the jar system enough to have a feeling. Stat's wise (if they have done as they say) it seems like it will be a buff long term but with a bit more variance short terms that might leave a few players unlucky. Whether that feels better to player experience is hard to say. On a side note I do like the openess the devs show to criticism/discussion by linking your video in app for players, even though it's not all positive!
Brilliant analysis as always, thanks for the effort in tallying the stats 🔥 on a separate note, I feel a lot of people (myself included) are prone to memory bias so big "win" streaks have less value than big "losing" streaks. Also the current sample size, while statistically significant, would need to be larger (within the standard error range of n=Z^2(p*(1-p))/margin of error) to ascertain a higher confidence, ideally 95%, in the derived statistic

@@HMHo-ku6pi this is not how statistic works. Less pulls the bigger differences will be in results. Check uncommon results for regular and early Indomitus. Both have the same chances but there's huge, 9% gap between results. That's because the less samples you have the bigger variance

If I'm looking at this correctly, the only upgrade not within 1 standard deviation (that being, + or - 5% at 100 observations) is Uncommon drops for Indom early campaign vs the jar system. The rest of the variance is really just that - variance which may reach the previous rate if you have enough observations. When I did this, I saw some that were high initially come down and some that were low initially come up (for patch 1.22) as the number of observations got larger. All this to say that the numbers in red (aside from uncommon early drops from indom early campaign) should really be yellow. They are within a single standard deviation so they should be flagged as "needs more testing to see if this is true or if it is a result of random testing generating some slightly higher results and some slightly lower results. I do agree that in the previous patch, farming legendary upgrades was higher than it should be. At almost 300 observations in the previous patch (1.22), I would guess the true rate of elite legendary drops to be 115%. All this doesn't answer your question, which was "who was this for?" My guess is that a few people complained about the jar system (ugh) and after working on a complicated and quite random mercy system for req drops, they said "why don't we just copy/paste this on over to the campaign drops?" It's kinda like how if the military buys a bunch of square-point shovels when you really need a round-point shovel, you better figure out how to dig a hole with a square-point.
So your takeaways is exactly my takeaways. I think people complained about the jar system and so they replaced it but they didn’t actually improve anything; they just made it different.
So overall, they’ve made it slightly worse but said they’ve made it better. Hmm, not sure I like that! Mind you the difference isn’t huge so the big question for me is why bother? Seems like an awful lot of work for no obvious reason. It’s not like every single other aspect of the game is perfect so they just needed something to keep themselves busy!
So the biggest problem I have is with the opportunity cost for this. What else could they have worked on? Who was this for exactly? I don’t understand it at alll

This started when someone figured the Jar system meant once you'd pulled all the upgrades that day, you didn't have to waste energy trying for more. This was met with denial from snowprint. They then implemented this truely random pull algorithm. Which nobody asked for and everyone hates.

Definitely doesn’t feel better. I immediately noticed it seems to take longer to farm my admech team. It’s been a huge disappointment and nearly the last straw for me. Let’s see if I don’t get burned out by this upcoming guild war. My guild is top 25 so they are very competitive and I hate this mode for the amount of inputs it takes compared to what you get out of it.
We actually had a vote in our guild whether we would even participate in the next guild war but voted 50:50 so will. However, it has cost us some members…
still dog poop. I've grinded snotflogga to gold 3 and the legendary upgrades just didn't get in. One day I spent 60 energy and got 0. One day 2, one day 1...but never 3-4 so I don't see the mercy here

I'm about to trigger the mercy system for requisition drops, 90 pulls(9x10 pulls) feels pretty bad for no legendary when it feels like im getting more common and uncommon characters and shards. But 100 drops just to trigger slight increases is pretty brutal given scrolls are so hard to come by at a higher level. Ive noticed the nodes im farming have felt better in the rare and epic tiers, but elite common nodes could definitely be better

I noticed this time that you make a comment in mission 19 or 20 that you won’t expect to have the character until the end of week 1. Did they change the way that works, as I’ve got Hollan unlocked by mission 18 and able to use his abilities already? Still a brilliant ongoing resource! Cheers.
It depends on the rarity of the character. Common and uncommon, if you follow the guide; you can do it in a week. For the rest; it’s hit or miss. Honestly through; I was just being cautious and not worrying people.

We can do, or we can psychologically understand how we feel about it based on the last patch. Do you feel it’s better, worse or just different? If it’s the latter two; what was the goal?

Immediately after the update I pulled a legendary but that means my guaranteed legendary pull isn't for another 3 years now. Yay mercy system

Uncommons on elites are terrible still, as they were in 1.22. Commons are somewhat fixed because you can no longer get 3 for 30 energy the way you could in 1.22. You are guaranteed 4 with the mercy system. Rares seem the same. Elites and Legendary, I don't like how the base was lowered. Legendary is WAY worse than 1.22 which was way better than jar, for Legendary at least.
Yeah so it doesn’t feel better just different right? So what was the worth in changing it and what did it cost us? What else could have been done with the time
@@DBPreacherTacticus You need to do a video on XP. I know your thing is how long to D3 but increasingly this doesn't matter as there is no XP once you get there. I bet I can get the D3 upgrades for 5 units before I can get the books for just one of those 5. This is a huge problem.
I still don't understand why they didn't just increse the chances rather than making a much more complicated system. They should decide whst the goak is and what the simplest way to achieve it is. Plus why don't the just make these draws themselves, just simulate 10.000 draws and look at the results, it isquite silly that the players need to check it for them. Similar to the system they made for requesitions. Why didn't they just increase the chances if that was what they wanted. Or added a 20 draw system with garuenteed epic or legendary. Or removed orbs as primary result and just increased the chance of orbs in onslaught. There are so many ways to improve the odds why not just pick a simple one.

I feel something is off with randomness of at least the uncommon items. From 10 pulls I get say two or seven a lot of times which is stochastically close to impossible in case it is a normal Gaussian distribution. TBH I would favor going back to the jar system…

1.22 felt WAY worse than the Jar System. 1.23 feels SLIGHTLY better than 1.22. Seems like there should be a really high floor for your first 3 upgrades and then a flat chance after that for additional upgrades. That guarantees you get your expected number within a reasonable amount of time, plus that flat chance for lucky streaks. Basically impossible for a truly bad streak though. Mercy is nice, but not at the expense of the steady progression you got out of the jar system. Those use statistical average to defend the new system are just abnormal people who don't feel the way normal people feel.
I had a blast playing this across the past 4 months, and just ripped up to power level 30 by investing a little cash into the game but just generally playing a lot everyday in the morning and at night. Once you get to what is probably the middle game, meaning from bronze 3 upward, the game is just a massive time sink. There are way too many characters for the amount of time it takes to level them up. And as a player who wasn't there from the beginning you are going to get steamrolled in the arena. It's a good little game, but it needs some adjustments.
I started 10 months after launch and even I suffer in the arena at times. I can't progress many characters at the minute because I have way too many and certain characters are needed for Guild Raids so I have about four teams that I rotate upgrades on. Edit: the Machines of War also taking upgrades doesn't help either as they have a completely separate upgrade path that isn't beginner friendly.
Bronze 3 is Not middle game, gold ist middle game, Diamond ist late game
That’s the balance of the game. It is meant to hook you and then bait you to purchase. I understand that because that’s the current model for mobile games. I don’t mean I like it, just that I understand it.
@@bencastor9207four teams is way to many, focus on one team and ignore bosses you dont like or do much damage. Also there are basically only 3 Teams anyway, Ragnar/Multihit, Admech and Neuro so i wonder what your fourth team is?

I didn't know the replaced system but it's definitely better than most gotcha games. And i just got Hollan for my 22nd and a machine of war. 8 have made 4 10 req pulls and in one of the pulls i got 4 characters outright

@DBPreacherTacticus I hit the first road block. I'm stuck at Indomitus 75 and and Indomitus mirror 22 and I've came you realize that the days to DIII are estimated for not me players lol
@@DBPreacherTacticus you probably didn't care but I switched my team up to: Varro, Bellator, Null, Archimatos, Re'vas and found a nice balance between letting opp hit my guard and avoiding theirs. Yeah I went from getting rolled by weaker to running through 2000-4000k higher teams. Thanks for the help
I, myself, have not been keeping a true tally to prove things one way or the other. However, I always farm elite or mirror and things FEEL worse to me than they used to. I am consistently surprised at how frequently I don’t hit a second common item when on an elite node. If the goal was to make me feel like they have nuked drop rates while saying it’s “the same or better” … then they’ve hit their mark. 🫤
