      It is like a second job sometimes, but it is nothing compared to the grind you have to put into Raid Shadow Legends. That game is brutal.

    Great video DBPreacher.
    I think the solution is to add a level of XP books above Legendary. Legendary books were around when the cap was G3. Now it is D3 and a huge increase in XP required. We need a book that gives 25k or 50k XP in one hit.
    SP increased the XP required but didn’t give us a tool to earn more XP. That’s why it takes so long to upgrade to D3.

      That is also a great idea for the longer term goals because it will give more space to move our short term goals. Love it!

      Should be super hard to get. For example completing BattlePass and then every third further reward should be a 50k book and the other two should be 12,500 books. Something like this. It shouldn’t be game changing for anyone particularly but it’d definitely encourage more p2p action without being predatory.

      Exactly. Why limit the players with xp books anyway? Still need to farm the mats, badges and gold for the skill upgrade. they should upgrade every book in the game. leggy book at least 25k, epic 10k and so on.

    Hey DB, interesting take on that comment. I have to say I read it as "I cannot keep up with all the activities". We go from a Legendary release event to a tournament to a war to a character release event to some special event. It feels like there is never a chance to take a breath. I know it's all optional, but then I feel like i'm missing out. Well agreed on the XP books though. The grind just gets painful when you're in diamond territory.

      Yeah that’s what I can’t tell but I also agree that this is an issue. I need to consume at least an hour in the morning playing and then more through the day. We certainly don’t have a lack of things to do in a day!!!

    I got a job that increased my work hours and guild wars dropped at the same time. It pretty much killed the game for me. I got my Space Wolves to D2.5 and D1.5 with a wide roster of g1-3s. It just feels like I have to spend money to get xp books to progress and there was so many things to do I just didn't want to do any daily stuff or events anymore with my limited time. I work 12 hour days that doesn't give me time to play throughout the day. Coming home and the thought of 17 arena battles, 2 salvage runs, 1 or 2 onslaught and guild raids, maybe 10 guild war tokens, and maybe TA, LRE, or character release missions became absolutely exhausting for honestly what little actual progress to my roster's xp needs.
    I eventually decided to drop from my guild and just raid energy until maybe coming back. Right now my free time is for actual 40k tabletop building and painting until something changes.

      Wow look after yourself! I used to work days like that and I know the strain on friends, family and my physical and mental health all too well! Life is too short to be working so much for others benefit.

      @DBPreacherTacticus I appreciate the concern . I actually took the job because I was rotating between days and nights every other week. Now I miss the morning routine, but I'm getting home when my wife and kid do. Getting to tuck my kid into bed every night is a privilege I now have, so it's working out well.

    Seeing all those diamond and red stars on your unlocked characters seems like a lifetime away for my month old account. I think its even more difficult for new players than mid-game as the longer term players are filling tournament arena and guild wars and the matchmaking is very unfair, making slow progress even slower. Low level Arena is full of abandoned high level accounts that haven't been filtered out from the pool. The problem could be fixed by making the matchmaking more fair, and removing dormant accounts from the arena.
    The game has the same growing pains as all the other gatcha games where they have to keep providing new content and higher and higher level challenges for the long term players and whales, without giving new players a feeling that they have been left behind with no way to catch up.

      Yeah that’s very fair points! I am out of the new player pool and so definitely can’t talk about it, so it’s great to hear your troubles. I totally agree there should be many more catch up mechanics!

      Playing for 2 weeks and I'm standing around 3k power in arena and getting matched again 100k+ players. And I don't even want to talk about the Tournament Arena.

    As a newer player this video is grim and I sure hope SP watches it and DOES SOMETHING. I understand the end game bottleneck is XP. But man, this entire fucking game feels like a bottleneck.
    The energy situation is laughable.
    Badges and orbs are nowhere to be found. I am PL30 with a pretty wide roster, but I have zero characters with abilities where I'd want them. I can't keep a single character from each alliance fed well enough to keep their abilities current. Not one!

      That is a really tough place to be but I didn’t worry too much beyond trying to level my skills to around the same level as my account. That seemed to help a little bit!

    I stopped playing Arena, because it felt like I was making no progress. Just shuffling back and forth between Chapter Master and the level below it. Heck, sometimes I'm not even making it to CM. I use Arena for meeting mission requirements, especially for character unlocks; but for fun I barely touch it.

      That’s exactly what I do. I stopped getting promoted to chapter master because it’s easier to do the missions in captain league and although the rewards are slightly better, I just didn’t find it worth my while

    Books and xp in general need a hard rework. We got ranks that prevent upgrade. Which include character shards aand orbs. Then we got actual equipment to grind. Then badges, then gold coins and in the end os the most useless part which is not even part of the gameplay which is xp. Xp doesnt grant any bonus. No stat increase, no skill boost, nothing. Level up gives 0 benefit and is most unfairly blocked recource

    The comment about "limit of things to do", is a refence to people feeling they have too much to do, not players reaching the limit of what they can do.

      Thanks! I am still wondering about the premieres and whether it’s annoying for people. It doesn’t make any difference to the number of viewers in the end, so has no impact on me but I‘m glad if it well thought of by some ❤️

    Great video. You articulated all too the current problems I have with the game. The XP books are particularly frustrating because, as you said, new characters have to take a backseat to older proven characters.

    It’s actually wild this is a problem felt by a lot of players. I stopped playing maybe 9 months ago for that reason, and still feel like it’s that much harder to get back into. I appreciate the content.

    I'm definitely struggling to go wide too. I hit my silver roster goal and had started to focus guild raid teams to gold, but I'm getting shard blocked constantly with onslaught as the way to open it back up. And all of a sudden I have 4-6 more stone characters because I don't want to miss anything coming out, so everything is falling to the wayside.
    The xp books screen made me laugh, I'm close to that too

      After you are done being shard blocked, you will go through a period of being gold blocked, and then finally the ultimate block with xp books!

    Great vid man! Definitely can relate to the books situation. I am playing since release, but mostly f2p, so you passed me long time ago) Getting leg books is such a pain that i don't level chars past 44 and i have only handful of d1 as it uses almost all of the resources available.
    F2p players really have to choose who to upgrade and because of all the issues you described i've been thinking to leave the game lately, as it takes too much time and gives almost no fun.

    As a 10 day newb my general impression is this game is stingy. Once the initial surplus of energy was spent, waiting to play was lengthy. I have many more raid tokens than energy. 3 ad energy refills seems like a graceful promotion to make me play. I do like how many arena chances i get. The rest of this video is over my head and thanks for giving me a spot to communicate.

    Those monthly 15 legendary xp tombs from the premium battle pass equate to one level-ish, for one character once you get to around 38 and above. So it's really hard to level.
    I got my bellator to max level and that made me happy. Then I did all the campaign missions.

    My biggest bottleneck right now is orbs, after that, possibly shards. The only reliable way to get either for characters without campaign is onslaught, which is getting harder and harder each time. I also am building wide rather than deep and I know I'm going to hit a ceiling before I can get enough orbs and shards to keep going, unless I abandon building wide.
    As they keep adding more and more characters, they really need to have more means to level them up or the game will just be a mashup of only the meta characters.

    The D1 to D3 grind is absolutely crazy in XP.
    I've found myself in an awkward point of my energy only being applied to "future" equipment, because of insufficient XP to open the next item slot so far. It feels bad.
    I love this game, but definitely something off for the progression sacrifices.

    Great vid as ever DB.
    What a wealth of insight posted here. Hope the developers have a scroll through the comments.
    I believe there is some almost "Sand bagging" in area and Guild war with higher level players almost blocking lower level player development. But play at lower levels and winning they can frustrate lower level players and discourage them.
    Weirdly, we lost a few Guild wars at level 2 (which is closer to where we should be) before winning 3 at level 5.
    I wonder if there could be almost a "player pool" for those players under level 20 to compete in? Then another for 20 to 40? Maybe a form of this for guilds too??

    I like the idea of limiting tomes to levels and creating a forge for them - but I do feel the forge need an option to dissemble too - taking orbs or tomes of a higher rating ingenio and turning it into x number of orbs at a lower rating, I have heroes stuck at uncommon waiting for me to slowly get enough badges and orbs to promote them whilst I'm stockpiling higher level orbs which I cannot yet use

    I have a fairly decent wide roster of G1s, and I'm already feeling the fatigue of getting them any higher. I used to pay for battle pass, but with so many things to do, its become more of a chore than fun, so I've stopped bothering with it. Paying doesn't speed up the leveling that much, so it feels like wasted money might as well just grind. I still pay for the monthly blackstone to support the game devs.

    I started about late august last year and got really into the game october that year. I've been F2P except for the lastest battle pass to get neurothrope as I value him greatly to get more comp options. I've just reached power level 43, I have Eldryon D1 and Bellator is there but I'm missing exp books. Exp is increasingly getting a bigger problem for me but I'm quite wide with my roster and working on that on the side while I'm getting more exp books it's fine so far for me.

    I think the Incursion model could be good for HREs. A chance to gather the upgrades needed without it impacting other modes. Run it over two weeks with sufficient tokens for anyone to unlock to legendary but scaling the difficulty so that beginners can easily unlock and push to rare/epic and strong players can push to legendary. It removes a lot of the RNG that can prevent ascending a new character. There wouldn't be the need for energy hoarding plus gives a mode to play with characters rather than just raiding or using 150 abilities.

      @@DBPreacherTacticus I suppose one option with an incursion type release is to combine the character events we get a few weeks later into that mode, so we could use the new character whilst unlocking. That removes another gameplay mode. Progression of existing characters could be pushed with a Black Library of previously run character events. I'd reduce GW to 4 battles per season too, 6 is overkill.

    You said it perfectly. I purchase, build and play exactly as you do. Xp books and guild raid teams are lacking. I was upset at first that I went wide but it will pay off because I plan on playing for a long time. It sounds like the developers heard that this is a more common concern. It will be hard for them to slow down new things to buy making it difficult to get what we have leveled but I hope there's more campaigns coming with better drops. Maybe a better version of a character event that pushes it up specifically a rarity or two. I'd like to see a set open five team tactical campaign that shoots you a lot of xp. Your personal superhero team fast track. You'd learn how they work together and you could grow a squad quicker and equally

    My biggest gripe is that I can't progress my characters and progress in the campaign simultaneously. Energy used in raids for resource farming prevents campaign progress and vice versa.

    Very good idea with the XP tomes. I have been playing for a year and I like to develop all my units. However I am punished as the game really only rewards getting a handful of units to high level first. So I had to swap my plans. Your tome idea would allow for development across the board. Seeing as how everything else is tiered it really is weird EXP is not as well.
    It also now feels like they are releasing some units that will never have a purpose. Guild war helped but the that only needs 50 units. There are almost 80 units (non war machines) in game now.
    The comment from the Devs I actually read the other way around. I swear in a previous post a few months ago they apologised for having too many concurrent events making people feel overloaded of things to do. So I read this as the people who are at "their limit" of what "they can do" in a day or week. Why else would the Devs want those people to defend them when updates focus on developing existing features instead of "big new modes"? If you had nothing to do in the game and they were actually releasing even more "big new modes" you would be happy. The only people who would attack when there is no new mode being released is the people who want more things to do, no?
    I play in a casual guild with a lot of low level players and the squash of rarities has really helped our guild war engagement. We only play level 1 and before there would be a Silver->Gold team in slot 1 of most map tiles. Most of the players couldn't help on this. So squishing it down helps everyone play. Yes my Gold and Diamond units get squished down. However its more fun to engage with the whole guild and progress together.

      Yep seems like others read it the same way as you… that’s it about the amount of stuff we have to do in the game every day which is huge! I am curious to see the next few months patches now though!!

    Although I sort of have similar issues (especially with tomes), I must admit I still enjoy the game even after over a year of playing. As I tend to split up my resources: Some go to building one character to Diamond III, some energy goes towards character grinding and some goes towards GW teams building. Hence I always have some short term, mid term and long term goals.

    I wholeheartedly agree! my problems are a bit wider, I play since release, did not invest as much money as you do and trying to build a wider team for LRE
    I am lvl 53 with 12 d1 and one d3 character
    the way too rare ressources for me are far out on top XP tomes, then legendary orbs, the legendary badges
    I am sittting on multiple gold 3 characters for which i do own all the upgrades needed but lacking the XP tomes
    and yeah it sucks that when playing (and leveling toons) you basically have to ignore a huge set of characters one would like to try, play and build but even with some money certain ressources are used as mega blockers
    still didn't get around to build adMech because lack of ressources and now way to play the game and earn them
    same goes for a Neurothrope team

      Yeah for raids especially, they keep adding new bosses which means I need a Neurothrope team, admech team, multihit team and then need to see where Kharn falls into the mix too!

      @@DBPreacherTacticus completely agree again, sadly I was in hospital during Kharns first event so I didn’t unlock him. in this case probably a good thing or I would be annoyed with the lack of XP for him too.
      btw another solution for the xp shit: increase xp from using a character by a staggering amount :D and reduce the ramp up to XP values needed by at least 30% from lvl 35 onwards

    Energy is the bottle neck of everything. I'm glad we can use tokens to buy more, but I've only seen it once in the shop so far and it didn't help much. Increasing the max energy (maybe +2 per level instead of 1) would be great. Make everything 5 energy instead of 6, Elites 8 instead of 10. Makes farming items better, don't have to bank energy quite so much for non legendary characters, and if you have a busy day you aren't missing out on energy from sitting at the recharge limit. Wouldn't feel like I need to waste raids on the first stage of Indomitus either for these dumb 250 campaign missions.

    I've only gotten my first gold characters in the last month, so i'm a ways away from the XP Bottleneck, I also only upgrade characters as far as my Ranking allows (so no lvl 50 silver 1 chars like i see sometimes in arena). What i've seen in 6 months though is that increase to the top-end, without any notable method of increasing rewards - in fact with munitions we technically lost 4 or so free upgrades from arena crates :(. I'm hoping the next patch seeing a general buff in either volume or value of rewards given from your daily activites. Gold is my biggest blocker atm. a "mythic" XP might be nice, but does that not just open up the idea of an even higher character rarity cap? which recurrs our problem

      Yeah it probably does in truth. Tbh, I just want a bit of recognition of the issue for mid-level players, to see if others were struggling with it and if anyone had better solutions than me.
      That def doesn’t mean I exclude the problems for new or older players, just that’s it’s easier to talk from my current experience. We all know there are plenty of issues throughout the scale though!

    I'm a day 1 player and mostly f2p. I have sometimes gotten the premium BP and some other things. I'm very busy everyday with a young family and full-time job, plus other committments. So it's hard for me to get everything done in a day. Also this game is soooo grindy that it's not always fun to play everything all the time. So for me there is plenty to do. I wish there was a bit more variety to gameplay, looking at salvage, etc. I also wish it wasn't so hard to complete some quests and level some units up. The grind is too much.

    Kind of related. Someone in my Guild missed the event for one of the Dark Angels and was looking for alternative way to get shards for him.
    I've a few characters myself that I failed to unlock as the characters I had at the time weren't leveled up enough themselves.
    I'd like a mode where you could get shards for event only characters - even if it was random & slow. So you could make some progress / get those close over the line while waiting for their actual events

      Haha, compared to the d3 filled players I am def mid level! Having some way to open characters you are missing would be great. I need Morvenn Vahl!

    I'd add the possibility of running a B-Team in arena. some sorts of "training grounds" so we can easily use our lower level characters, to earn XP books rewards, orbs, and shards, so we can level up those characters faster, without taking from the reward pool of the A-team and high-level characters... Because at some point, taking low-level characters to onslaught is a chore too.

      That "Training Grounds Arena" wouldn't have ranking, maybe it's not even against character teams built by players, but generated, maybe even we could fight against our own other characters. Or just even simply fight against our A-team.
      What would be the laziest way to implement something like that would be
      A button "FIGHT TOP LINE-UP" and a progress bar with milestones, like the new one for the req pulls. and you get sent to an arena battle against our current top line-up. if the milestone rewards and the battle rewards themselves (shards) are specific to the characters we're using it would be just fine, and not that disruptive to the game progression overall, as it is. I think it'd be just fine :)

    I calculated the energy cost to get every one of my characters whom I have spent exp on and I will run out of things to do with my energy in October. So, to be clear, I'll load up the game and wait for tomes. I suppose I could raid out my energy stockpiling a few different upgrades, but not being able to spend those upgrades as I get them really hurts the soul.
    I understand what the devs want. They want you to spend the ~200 bucks each month to get the guild credits and the daily rogue trader bits and then change them out for exp tomes so you can level as much as your energy allows. That just feels bad. I don't feel bad spending about as much money as you would going out to the movies (ticket plus popcorn, or around 25 dollars). But, I don't want to spend the amount of money I did on the new Skaventide starter set each month on Tacticus either. EXP tomes feel useless except as the gate. They must make the devs a lot of money though because if they weren't, the exp requirements wouldn't be as high as they are and the tomes wouldn't be as costly.

    been playing for over a year as f2p and i have only one D2, one D1 and eight gold characters. Its very sad to have so much characters rotting away, taking away a lot of fun from Tacticus. If I cant use them, they might as well could have not released them it feels... we need more xp, more badges, more gold. at the start of the game all was fine only grinding to Gold 3, but now its just ridiculous

    As a free to play player, my way of going wide not few big, is making everyone to be at least gold 1. Reason is BOOKS. Too many books to get 1 dude to diamond 1, which with I could have a few gold 1 character instead, and I can even use them. As for above gold 1 I have revas as gold 3 and ragnar as gold 2. And sho syl gold 2. Anyone else ether sitting at gold 1, or waiting at silver 3, or hitting silver 1 cap. I have been playing this game for a year as well, and I do spend all of my energy up to the 50 BS re fill every day, and this is where I am. By the time I get someone to gold 1, they release a new character, so I am back at the grind.
    The real issue with the game isn't that there are no things to do, but rather the whole game feels like a chore by this point. Most now days raid bosses, I don't even want to fight, but I have to for the daily mission. Win 85 arena per week, like bruh, I managed to miss that twice by now. And the fact that I have to almost always fight diamonds with gold teams doesn't feel great, but at least revas can level up because of that. And now I have to pretty much do much more arena, because of guild wars, which is pretty much arena, just on maps which I really hate, and the enemy is much stronger than you(which do lines up as being arena) and I have to assemble 10 teams which can beat stronger enemies.

    I came to this game as someone who played warhammer fantasy as a kid. For all it's faults, its the best warhammer game on a phone by far. I wasn't interested in 40k at all until this game

    What i would love more than anythign is quality of life improvements. Let me filter my chacter lists and make it so that my energy icon doesnt get replaced wirh an amunition icon if i navigate around menus. Game can be pretty buggy navigation and UI wise.

      If I raid a mission in one campaign, then I navigate over to the missions menu and click on a different campaign, I'm brought to the other campaign screen.
      It's like the stack state is getting overwriten and then the act of navigating isn't resetting the stack variable.
      Also if I raid for an item then go to guild chat to donate an item, hitting the back button takes me to the last item view in that stack. I've accidentally raiding for the wrong item many times because of that weird navigation behavior.

      Pls let me tag a mission.
      Daily, weekly, season on the battle pass. The missions from the missions screen and ofc guild missions....
      Yeah great atm im trying the 600 melee kills (example) but because i killed a grot that guild mussion shows up. I did that in Arena so the daily pops up, i moved a few hexes so the daily battle pass shows up and then.... "Progress in x other missions".....
      Yeah thx was that the 600th or am i at 598?
      Especially annoying with event missions when they dont show up.

    How have you got so many diamond chars after just a year? I’ve been playing just over a year, buy the monthly bs packs and the premium battle passes as you do, I’ve always spent up to and including the 110bs energy refresh and for the last two months that’s increased to the 250bs refresh and I only have 20 chars at G1 (2 of which are G2) and 6 at S3.
    What am I doing so wrong that I’m that far behind you? Really confused :(

      I don’t know what the difference is except I do get extra Blackstone from people using my refer a friend code, so that’s something for sure. I invest that into gold tbh. Other than that it only takes 35 days to go from stone 1 to diamond 3 and I am not taking them that far. I did about 5 diamond characters from g1 in the last month of so!

      Will keep plugging away and I do need to be more focused if I’m honest, I’d love to use your spreadsheet but I don’t have access to a p.c, I use the Tacticus planner as it’s an app but I love the look of your excel stuff, can I use it still if only on a mobile device?

      You can use my sheets on the Google sheet app although it def isn’t as user friendly as on the pc. I do use it sometimes myself there though!

      ⁠ maybe the difference is hard-farming legendary characters? I only started doing so about 6-7 months ago and, I try to only do one at a time but it does sink around 60 energy a day doing so?
      Re: spreadsheets I think I’ll just have to suck it up and snaffle a laptop from somewhere, would really like to use it!

    This is off-the-cuff;
    I am relatively new to the game.
    What drew me in was leveling to use upgrades, and making progress rather quickly.
    Around S1, (without books) the exp grind (through missions) was no longer rewarding.
    I could feel a massive slow down.
    Then with the +12500 exp books, it trivialized getting exp from missions.
    Fast forward to a handful of G2 units.... It takes about a week of elite missions (with 1-2 energy refills) and arena to maybe gain one level, probably closer to double that.
    Personally, I think it is a bad mechanic to basically force players to wait for xp books in order to level and progress.
    It ruins an integral part of the game that I enjoyed - the RPG / progress portion of the character development.
    I agree that shortcutting to level 24-27 with one book feels "cheap", so the limit on who you can use the books on makes sense.
    However, I don't agree with neutering that capability completely especially for f2p players.
    I would say that it is apparent that, the exp system is outdated and needs a rework.
    Maybe there could be another tier of difficulty for all campaigns.
    Like easy, medium, hard.
    Hard could give a lot more exp, and have better drops so the component grind for d1-3 characters, isn't taking away from low ranked characters (silver and gold)

      I have yet to get to d1, however, getting the units I am focusing on from g1-3+ require a ton of materials that I don't want to waste on low rank characters. I could get my g1s and g2s to g3, or I could raise one character from stone 1 to silver 1. With LREs, it doesn't make sense to waste those resources on diversifying my roster.
      I think a hard campaign that has a chance to reward craftable upgrades, would free up the common and uncommon upgrade materials for low rank toons.

      easy = normal (stone 1 - silver 2)

    I pay for the monthly standard battle pass. For how many versatile content there is. I have 35 characters at g1. It's good enough to unlock LRE characters on the first pass. But we're seeing a trend in where LRE are getting more specific. Broader rosters are needed for other content as well So I don't think I'll ever get anyone to d3. Maybe I'll get a few to d1. By the time I get a character to g1 another one has been released so I'll never run out of guys to level

    I havent done any of the dark Angels beyond Silver 1. And even that just for the 15k dmg quest that gives me the req scroll.
    There is just no way i can go "that wide". Lots of chars just left behind (only missing 6 atm).
    Additionally to your EXP Idea i would raise the 2x Exp Sunday. Make it 5x or 10x.
    An Exp boost on Guild War battles. Since i go through alot of chars there anyways. Would also make the war more interesting. A general one though. Not like "more exp in higher guild war level" since that would mean newer players are left behind again.

    Honeslty I'm not a massive fan of limiting the xp tomes as I feel while that does promote diversity in leveling it just further increases the scarcity at the top and the overall time to level new characters. If I'm honest I think as we are getting more characters and the ceiling for characters is being raised, the ability to get things such as tomes, upgrades, badges etc should be increased otherwise the amount of time to get up to doing current content increases. Honestly I feel a new event such as maybe a battle pass acompanying mini challenge campagin could be a nice, low effort way to add in extra resource avenues to give new goals and increase the rate of getting largely time gated items.

    The 500 BS package should come with 3 legendary XP tomes. Everyone buys those. So throwing in extras is just helpful.
    They let us buy energy with raid tickets, let us use 100 raid tickets for 1 legendary XP tome. Or let us forge legendary XP tomes with legendary forge badges. 1 per day.
    Also, the pitiful coin returns on campaign nodes is shocking.
    Each normal mission should give you 100 coins flat.
    Elite nodes should be 400 coins. The work you have to put in to elite campaigns for the rewards is just not worth it. And if epic items are 67% on elite nodes, legendary upgrades should be 50%.

    I enjoy building wide rosters as well, but I think the issue is not whether you enjoy building a narrow or wide roster. The issue is how you keep people playing the game and coming to it so as not to end it, and of course, keep it profitable. and in order to do that devs have to balance what to give to end game players, to keep them playing, while avoiding the early/mid game players from quitting the game, and vice versa. unfortunately while you reach a certain point, your progress will ultimately slow down since you are reaching the end game. A while back the devs introduced diamond 3 to give veterans more to do in game, while I'd say it worked for veterans. It made arena more miserable, fighting a full diamond and even a full d3 team is not fun when you are a mid game player. on the other hand, the guild war change was beneficial for us, mid game players, since we do not have to fight legendary toons when we do not have the means to do it, but it discouraged some veterans from participating. every change will have its ups and down. If you ask me what i'd like the most for the devs to introduce, it would be, without a doubt, turn down a bit the grind, or at least, make it less obnoxious (which is what I think you were aiming at when discussing the time to level the characters)

    Currently feels like I have too much to do compared to how little I make progress. I'm on the wide train and got some 20 gold characters soon my second diamond and rest are pretty much silver 3 and a handful of neglected stones.. .
    Don't do TA anymore, only do my 2 daily arenas.(rewards are bad and the Xp you get is not worth the time). Sidenote: only doing 2 daily arenas with my roster makes me one of those muppets you meet in lower arena with a team not supposed to be so low... Try to use lower characters to even it out a bit.
    Starting to lose interest in GW with no use for the rewards. Got my Rotbone from there, but the rest are not interesting. Legendary items sure, but farming them with energy is fast enough that XP bottlenecks using them. :D
    All in all as my characters are gold and I'm starting to push some abilities higher and leveling few key characters to diamond the XP bottlenecks my progress to the point of breaking. I got materials but I don't have xp to use them, heck I'm starting to have to excel my resources since main characters have all the mats they need and I have to look up what they need next as I wait for them to get xp.
    Plan B forget diamond, focus on finishing elite campaigns and hope for a change *shrug*

      Hey thanks! I am limited on time sadly as each video takes me around 1-2 hours per one minute of footage! However, I will do a deep dive into the Kharn legendary event soon, prolly around the time that the Ragnar event goes live. For the guild raids… well the problem there is that honestly I am not the best player at those, someone like Nandi who is in the top teams has a much better grasp of them than I do. Check out his videos for guides, in fact he just did a great szarekh one!

    This game needs to free up the lower levels and characters from the main progress grind. No other similar game I've played has legendary characters use up all the common upgrades that the iron/bronze chars need so badly. Alongside the pathetic XP from every game mode except Arena (only top chars welcome), this keeps you from actually building the new characters. Most games drop common upgrades as extras on higher level battles, and give out XP potions for XP earned by maxed out characters. Tacticus should learn from that.

    excellent video as alywas but u forgot to mention about the gear required to level up... personaly im not totaly f2p sice i bought the 4-5 last battlepasses but still as (almost) 1 year player i find it frustrating the amount of gear required to fill 1 slot of 1 hero.. especially in higher levels... when u need to gather 18 rare pieces of smthng just to fill 1/3 of an item etc ... its annoying... plus the energy regeneration is... just not enough... i mean 12 energy per hour is kinda joke... even if u use 50 &11o bs daily... still feels.. low

      I did cover it a bit though when I showed my levelling plan to December. That is purely gear and not xp tomes. Basically, gear is no longer the “critical path” i.e. the thing that takes longest to level. It’s the tomes!

    The truth is part of the tactics is to choose to be versatile or specialist. Your way of thinking only benefits whales big money spenders and not most players. The idea of creating diamond level was to keep old players for longer with game and not enough xp books keeps them for longer. Imagine a situation where we can only upgrade characters to Gold 1 with the present system. There will be no issue with xp books anymore. Do you want to limit building your characters to G1 or want some more (a challenge, more grinding, more time in the game?). So easy solution to enjoying all characters is reducing cap on all characters to lower level G1or G2 should be enought ;)

    DB, I love your videos! Absolutely do. Probably my favorite out of all the content creators.
    Fairly large error in what you said with GW level around (6:30) with requirements. We are having the same issue as you guys, but the jump you are explaining is between battle field level 2 and 3… not between 3 and 4. Level 2 requires no legendary D3s because of the epic cap, but level 3 requires 6 people to have 2 full squads of D3. The HQ and both FP buildings.

      Hey brother! Hmm, not sure I follow or I didn’t make myself clear in the video! In my guild we have a split between people that can fill EPIC buildings and VETERAN buildings.
      In level 3, there were 9 buildings that needed some level of diamond characters before the change. Now there are only 3 (the elite buildings).
      In level 4, there was 15 buildings previously (but there was a lot more high level teams )and now there are 6.
      So we either go into lvl 3 and only have 3 of our players get to use their diamond characters, or we go into lvl 4 and at least get 6 of them. That feels more like our level but for a lot of our players it lost a goal for them either way.
      Not sure if that makes more sense but it wasn’t an error probably just a crappy explanation!

    Getting characters into Gold really is sufficient to give you a lot of forward momentum in the game. Diamond requires intense investment that neuters all other advancement for any characters.
    Also going wide with your roster is way, way better than going tall with a few characters. Legendary Events alone will benefit immensely from wide rosters, which means free characters.
    I won't have much sympathy for only Free to Play players - If you have the expectation that you have done have to pay someone for their labors, and yet get all or most benefits from them, you're naive at best and unreasonable and entitled at worst. I'm NOT saying one should spend tens of dollars a month, especially since the $5 blackstone monthly deal is really good. But I am saying, pay people for their work.

    I think taking so much time to level up characters is not the problem but what we are doing during that time is the problem. since this is a mobile game, if things go faster than it is, we would be consume the game quickly and and have nothing else to do. so i understand why things are going slowly.
    In my opinion doing same things over and over again is killing the mood and it is what makes game feels like a second job. things we do to grind are so repeatative and exhausting. who enjoys onslaught or salvage run? who enjoys 2 weeks long character release event? may be in our first year but after that? and while we are waiting new content, what did we get? guild wars... a glorified version of the arena. I never understand why comunity hyped about this mode. at he end of the day you are fighting against stupid ai. but now same people hyped about gw are saying game starts to feel like chores. yes, because we are doing same things over and over again. In our guild which is in top hundred in GR rebel against our leader say they don't want to play GW regularly.

      This would allow players to play Tacticus Unlimitedly but also incentivize the “whale” to buy max Raid Tickets per day to stay ahead of everyone else. There would still be the restriction of 10 wins per Node.

    Xp is so bad. After level 25 wvety book is just irrelevant. And funnything is that books are the only xp source. In game there is junt not a single xp spurce except for books. Which ment to be a boost and not the actual source

    Get rid of the xp books completely. They are pointless. Or, at least, give in arena 10x more xp.

      The arena increase would be nice too because then it benefits players.

    My biggest bottleneck right now is orbs, after that, possibly shards. The only reliable way to get either for characters without campaign is onslaught, which is getting harder and harder each time. I also am building wide rather than deep and I know I'm going to hit a ceiling before I can get enough orbs and shards to keep going, unless I abandon building wide.
    As they keep adding more and more characters, they really need to have more means to level them up or the game will just be a mashup of only the meta characters.

      After shards it will be gold and then finally xp tomes… that’s the same journey I went on!
