I don't't think the form of each Keyblade was determined long ago. Based on the design on the X-blade as two crossed Kingdom Keys, I think that the default appearance of a Keyblade is the Kingdom Key and the differences in appearance and power come from the keychain attached to it. This would explain why Sora has always been said to have "the" Keyblade, yet it has taken dozens of forms of varying power. Same Keyblade, different keychains. Also explains why Sora starts off each game with the Kingdom Key. Between games he loses the keychains for whatever reason. So the reason Riku's Way to the Dawn looks like his sword and Lea's Keyblade (which is named Bond of Blaze, in case you're curious) looks like his chakrams and fire isn't because eons ago, someone was running around with the Way to the Dawn or Bond of Blaze exactly how they look in the present but because the keychains (and thus their forms) was created by Riku and Lea when their Keyblades first manifested. The Keyblades are ancient, but their forms are not necessarily. Also, the Kingdom Key D from the realm of darkness is golden because it's supposed to be the inverse of the Kingdom Key which is from the realm of light. The KK is silver with a gold crossguard while KK-D is gold with a silver crossguard. Honestly, the X-blade should be a KK crossed with a KK-D to represent the clash of light and dark but whatever

20 mins in and minor correction RE1 doesn’t have a zapping system but the original RE2 does. OG RE2 does it so much better than the remake does. I think this turn to collectivism actually makes a lot of sense. It's like when people who grew up with really strict parents get to college and they just go wild because they to be completely distant to what they had before. These people lived under this idea of selfishness being superior then watched it all collapse underneath them. Eleanor is also not the first Little Sister, just the first one to be successfully bonded. The whole point of trying to bond them is that the Sisters need protection as they go recycle Adam from corpses, and they wouldn't need to fix that problem until they had Little Sisters to bond. You're actually not grafted into your suit like the later ones were which is how you were able to remove your helmet at the beginning. To one of your questions, the reason the bond was needed is because the Big Daddies wouldn't stick around the Little Sisters. They would just do their own thing. They would fight aggressors but didn't fight to protect the Sisters. So the first solution was the pairbond Delta and Eleanor had, but as we know from BS1, eventually they overcame the need for bonded pairs and got a mix of pheromones which would make all Little Sisters able to bond with any "Mr. Bubbles" and the Big Daddy would protect any Sister who came out of the vents. Of course, Burial at Sea completely retcons all that and it's the "lion with the thorn in its paw" where Little Sisters use Adam to heal an injured Big Daddy who then killed Suchong for threatening them in that audio diary.

I'd just like to add a thought that this video sparked in me: maybe the rules of the Lake aren't so much the lake's rules as the rules of the collective unconscious. The "rules" state that the story's ending must be earned, and I think that ties in with the origin of the hero's journey. The monomyth, another name for the hero's journey, was an attempt to codify the rules of writing that are followed by most writers. Thus, the Lake/threshold allows an artist/parautilitarian to impose their own reality on the world we live in, and how powerful that effect is will be determined by how well that story fits the tropes and ideas stored within the collective unconscious. I'm sure quality also factors in, seeing as the story being too formulaic would fracture the realism that is surely another part of that, but I think that idea of adhering to the collective unconsious' idea of what a story SHOULD BE is what makes the changes stick better and makes more sense than just general quality.

After watching this series again I came to the realization that Neil stated in origins that Batman learns to accept help from allies and then forgets that lesson. But it actually makes sense now that I think about it that he doesn’t forget it, he rejects it cause accepting help is what got Jason “killed”. And it’s not until Jason is back that he learns the lesson all over again.

One of the things I inherited from my grandfather was a love for westerns. It wasn’t until I found three differently labeled collections of westerns that I realized that there’s a big difference between “cowboy westerns,” “gunslinger westerns” and “outlaw westerns.” These games do a really good job of mixing those three together as a nod to fans of each subgenre. That being said, I just got to the part where you guys are discussing how the era of cowboys is at an end by the end of RDR II, but that’s not fully true, it’s that the era of outlaws is coming to an end.
