Warmed up with a 3 mile walk today. Going to do 2 more walks then I’m going to ruck. I’m obese 6’4 310 lbs. this seems to be the thing for me.

I just picked up a pair of these and they have been great! I live in the states and the trails here aren't as muddy, but definitely sandy, roots and rocks on the trails I frequent. The Zip foam mid sole has been fantastic on the uneven terrain. Grip has been excellent too, just as you mentioned. My only regret is I should have up a 1/2 size because when I run my big toe nail sometimes catches the edge of the toe cap and the mesh upper when I run. I didn't give myself that little bit of extra room, but that's on me and not the shoe. The wide toe box is nice since my other trail shoes are Nike Pegasus Trail 4's. Overall, these are great shoes and I'm all in for Topo moving forward as my go to trail shoe too! Great review!

I’m on my 4th pair of Topos. If you need a road shoe I highly recommend the Topo Specter 2. The fit reminds me of the MTN Racer and the Pebax midsole just bounces you along. If you like the Altra Escalante then you have to try the Topo Cyclone 2… it puts the Altra to shame.

Just got a pair...Best Altra shoe hands down...Best light weight zero drop running style hiking shoe with wide toe box and Vibram sole around...You could use waterproof spray on it I'd imagine.. to make it more waterproof and you could plug up the holes in the sole if you wanted to

You need to try the Topo Cyclone 2. You'll never go back to Escalantes again. Same type of shoe but is far superior in every way.

I did not expect to love the Escalante 4's as much as I have. They feel effortless, like just an extension of my foot that I don't really thing about, im just enjoying running and moving and that's so fun.

Great intro to the Mt Racer. I have two pair and love them; I also have three pair of the Ultraventure3, and I find myself going back to the Mt Racer more often. Just really like the upper and the feel overall. I have been a Topo Fan for some time as I also have a wide foot. Used to be a Altra fan also but totally agree about the quality issues. Topo is very well made, and their customer service is top shelf. They do have an insole you can buy separate called the FKT that is a beaded insole that is water resistant and will be added to their trail shoes going forward. I do believe it came standard with the Pursuit2. Thanks for your work and enjoy Topo.

Why is altra making their shoes worse every year. I’ve owned several pair of lone peaks and the newer ones are terrible.

How can you fit it with a wide foot? Is your instep higher? I just find these too narrow above the midfoot insole. Famtastic toe box and great outsole.

Carry my toddler on my back. Makes my walks so much harder and reduces how far I can walk enjoyably 😅

If anyone is interested in this shoe, they should first watch the Rose Anvil review of it. They loved the shoe for the comfort, but they rated it very low on the durability scale as there are plenty of choices that make the boot not very long lasting.

Nice one. Excellent assessment of the Topo model. The brand is sells well here at The Complete Runner as opposed to Altra. Topo offer the varying drops of course as mentioned.
