awesome, HOWEVER, my ear is missing that D# to A# (i think it's called a plagal cadence, not sure) like the original had. on the lyric "no-one (D#) dared to ask his business no-one (A#) dared to make a slip" etc. and then again later in the chorus. was it left out on purpose? but anyway this is good and i love the banjo. i remember when i was a kid, whenever my uncle played the banjo it made me smile involuntarily. i tried not to smile and couldn't. good times.

So these leftists want to disparage rural white americans but want to steal our musical culture?

wow,, i've never really thought of this song as that much of a tearjerker, but something about the longing of your rendition just got to me. your vibrato's so rich, and your banjo playing would give me the kick in the ass i need to finally pick up the banjo if i had more than flies and lint in my wallet atm. b-flat is my favorite key, i find it to be one of the most nostalgic keys. thank you, i needed to shed a good tear, dare i say perhaps even two tears.
