- Hey everyone! Welcome back to another Thursday banjo session!
Today, we're delving into the roots of the classic tune, "Mountain Dew." This iconic song has deep Appalachian roots, tracing its origins back to the American South.
One rendition of "Mountain Dew" that stands out is by the legendary Grandpa Jones, whose lively performance brought this song to audiences far and wide. His infectious energy and down-home charm made "Mountain Dew" a beloved favorite among fans of bluegrass and country music.

Love it!!
Excellent version 👍
I was going to request this one, I have a list called 'favourite versions', I'm filing this song there
Lotsa' fast slide work on the Banjar in this one, Talise. I believe you just might have inspired me to go out and get me some of that good ol' mountain dew alright! Good to see the sun shining on you as well.🪕🎶
❤💛❤💛❤ I have drank much mountain dew, when I was a young wild buck , you did the old song justice!
Yay, another Thursday with Talise playing a cover 😊.
Great, your singing and appearance always reminds me of Tom's words It's such a sad old feeling the fields are soft and green it's memories that I'm stealing but you're innocent when you dream when you dream, you're innocent when you dream 🌺❤👏
one of my favorite songs,,,played and sung very often during performances...
you are a unique young lady,,, i love your style,,, singing and playing.
Great version Talise. Grandpa Jones would be proud of you!
Beautiful background, beautiful voice. Everything's beautiful.:)
Now that was a lot of fun! A familiar song which you made "new".
Always a great way to start the morning!
Nice one. Good job.
Absolutely fantastic, another great song
Back again listing to this old favourite of mine, may i make a request?
The song 'take me home, country road would be excellent in banjo and you can change the gender these days, so you could sing 'West Viginia mountain mister' and get away with it fine
wonderful... ethereal
Good stuff to avoid 😂. Even them Kentucky boys were leery of the shine. They worked on weed ,molly and beer like nothing, but warned a Yankee about shine and not to get too much in you too fast. They also said if you drink alone to any level, even just beer, you got a problem. Your videos /thumbnails,are turning into quite a collection of classic paintings .
Keep em coming! :D It's such a pleasure to hear something new in a tradition I'm not already familiar with every Thursday. Keep learning an keep playing. You are a great talent and a true musician, and thank you for bringing us all along for the ride :)
