Young Girl's Lament ~ Talise

Hi Everyone! This week's video is a bit different thank my typical folk upload. It is definitely not the style of music that I play today, but I came across this song that I recorded with a dear friend at seventeen years old and didn't do anything with. I thought to share it today just because. It is a cover of the song "Yong Girl's Lament," which is a poignant song that showcases themes of youthful innocence and the struggles of growing up. It was written by the folk musician Gordon Lightfoot and originally appeared on his 1966 album "Lightfoot!" The song has since been covered by several artists, most notably by Mama Cass Elliott and The Big Three.
I am going to be recording a folk cover of this tune on guitar in the coming months, but as a teenager I was on a huge electric blues kick.
Mama Cass, a member of The Mamas & the Papas, recorded her version of the song, bringing her distinct vocal style and emotional depth to it. Her rendition, along with The Big Three's version, helped popularize the song in the 1960s folk scene.
