In addition to my frog room, I have a diverse orchid collection with various species and hybrids including Cattleya, Laelias, Masdevallias, Bulbophyllums, Pleurothallis and more! My small, but mighty, collection of orchids are grow exclusively in the home.

November is a very exciting month for blooming #orchids! I am thrilled to share the rarest orchid in my entire collection: Masdevallia siphonantha! I am only aware of 2 other individuals with this plant in their collection in the United States! The trumpet-shaped, striped flower is so special!
In addition to this orchid, you will witness a wonderful second blooming of my Phragmipedium Fritz Schomberg and some amazing Cattleya blooms including Sophronitis (Cattleya) cernua! I also have a few wonderfully, weird Bulbophyllum and Pleurothallid blooms to share!

I only want to buy Cattleyas that are mounted. It's harder to overwater them and kill off all the roots when they are mounted. Those are really pretty!

Neat! Lots of lovely growing of the small _Laeliinae._ I will encourage you to use the contemporary nothogenera names, though, as it's been several years since the changes were made.

@@Joe-nj3bb it’s their blooming season right about now too! They had quite a few when I was there last month! It’s a great plant!

11:14 My Hibiki is making new buds on a leafless cane. I'm going to have to repot it again because the roots took over the small pot already. It also made three new canes and two keikis which I potted separately. 11:48 Really nice pattern for these Masdevallia flowers. 16:09 Really cool Bulbophyllum flower. 16:31 Too bad about the smell but the flower is very detailed. 17:00 I got too paphs from a local garden center around this time last year. One grew much faster than the other and it's in bud now. Maybe I'll try out another one or two in the future if I can buy them locally. I water mine about every 3-4 days and I've been soaking them. They're in small grade bark with slotted pots. I'm thinking of adding coconut husk next time and in a pot with no slots. 19:10 Great idea to have a place to showcase the ones in bloom. The bloom shape reminds me of the delantii but I prefer the color on the Fritz Schomberg.
Thats awesome news, Joe! Sounds like your hibiki loves your growing conditions! They are wonderful little flowers! You're right about the resemblance to delanatii, it has that pronounced cup-like lip! The video does not do the color justice though! The pink is so vibrant and definitely stands out!

Hahaha unfortunately, these plants have a growth habit that tends to climb and grow in all different directions! A little chaos in the greenhouse isn’t bad once in a while! ;)

Floridise has some really pretty plants. I tried to grow Miltonias 3 times. Never worked out but they are pretty. They had some nice Phrags and Paphs. Thank you Brian for another great video

It's great to know a place that isn't too far from Connecticut that I can order online from. 14:50 Really nice color pattern on this cattleya, but I always wonder how difficult they can be to grow. 23:46 The miltoniopsis that I got from the orchid show in March is finally making new roots. It must have been the temperature drop that helped. 33:34 That's the alba version of the Psychopsis. I wonder how hard it is to find especially in person.
Yes! Definitely check them out if you’re ever in Virginia! That cattleya is stunning and surprisingly requires no different care/culture from other standard cattleya hybrids! A win win! :) I’ve never tried miltoniopsis but I’m so glad you’re having good luck! I love those flowers though, they are gorgeous! :)
