I’d be curious to see how u water all these guys. Do you spray the individually, or take them out one by one to dunk them? ALSO interested to know how u keep one tent cool and the other one warmer?
I water all the orchids in pots that require moist conditions just about everyday or every other day. If the tent gets warm, I tend to water the plants more often. For the mounted orchids, I water every day in the morning to allow the leaves and roots to dry before lights out at night. The extra lighting for the high light orchids in the warm grow tent keeps the grow space about 10-15 degrees warmer during the day.
Loved seeing the Schrellana. I just bought one from Krull Smith in July. Cant wait for blooms. The Hsin Venus is beautiful. Thank you for sharing the blooms 😊
Thats so awesome! I love these type of orchids! They are so beautiful! I bought a few different relatives of the Schilleriana family for the collection! I bought a C. Peckhaviensis from Krull Smith and its beautiful!
Do you give your collection a temperature differential during a 24-hour period? If so, what do you use? Thanks! Just brought my new collection inside. Thanks!
I do! My grow tents drop about 10-12 degrees from day to night temperatures! Sometime it can be closer to a 15 degree drop. This is typically achieved with reduced heat from lighting and an adjustment of the air conditioning and fans in my home and the grow tents.
My first impression was that the tent looked wider and then you mentioned that you moved so it made sense. 😁 4:08 I had the problem with shriveling flowers with my mounted Gastrochilus japonicus from J&L. They really didn't last that long, maybe a week when they're supposed to last about a month. I was soaking the whole mount when I knew it could affect the flowers, but I was more concerned about the health of the plant. 9:22 You can't go wrong with a peloric phal and a nice color combo. My violacea just finished the first bloom but it has another rone on the way. 15:52 That is a really cool bloom for a Masdevallia. 16:44 Oh, I'm jealous of the schilleriana. Mine grew well this summer and maybe I'll see the first blooms in the spring.
HAHAHA it is deceiving when the tents are so close to each other! Yeah, I've found that some orchid flowers are super sensitive to getting wet. It can totally wipe out the flowers. My Dendrobium aberrans flowers shrivel and die if they get any kind of water on the flowers.
Where are the plants you got from the NCOS auction?
@@LinusCello75 the Cattleya I won at the auction was a gift for my mother! So she gets to enjoy the beautiful blooms this time around! ;)
The Masdevilla at 16:20 is adorable. I love your grow space.
One of my favorite genera!
Hi Bryan ! After watching your video I decided to get some grow tents. I live in the south of France, and my growing conditions do not allow me to properly grow certain orchids. Too dry in summer, too cold and humid in winter (the growing room is unheated) I particularly like Cattleya. I have difficulty managing watering. How do you know that your Cattleya need water? Do you give less water after flowering? Is a slow release fertilizer enough for Cattleya? Thank you for your very informative videos. And for your answer. Christophe.
Hi Christophe, thank you for the comment and I’m so glad I inspired you building a grow tent for your collection. I would say watering depends on the Cattleyas you have in the collection. The common message from growers when you think you should water, wait a day and then water. Cattleyas are forgiving orchids and they need to dry out between watering. I water my Cattleya hybrids once a week and fertilize every other week. I would recommend looking on line for care tips on the orchids you have but I think this advice could be a good starting point for you! Good luck and happy to answer any other questions! :)
whats the name of that spotted cattleya
I've purchased many plants from Taida, and I love them! They're always healthy and beautiful... hmm I might have to go this weekend ❤

Nice sharing this plant tour.😊
@@edwardmangoma7673 thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
wowww everything are wowwww, but you did not mention the name, thanks.
The orchids at the end of the video were from Waldor's private stock, and not for sale. I don't think it would be appropriate to touch or handle anything. We just have to be thankful they allowed him to film back there. Gorgeous flowers!!!
@@hermon1415 it’s true! The plants at the end of the video were their private stock plants and not for sale. Just beautiful blooms this time! :)
What an amazing video! It’s great to see Chadwick Orchids, I really enjoyed the interview! So many gorgeous blooms. I wish I could have one of each 😅.
@@ChristophersJungle I’m glad you enjoyed the tour and interview with Art! It was a great event and even more beautiful blooms!
i like all their cattleya most especially the species that are tall slender body with long spike & more flower.
@@hermon1415 yes! Those are so gorgeous! I love them too!
5:20 Really nice surprise to see Arthur there as well. I was thinking about checking out the local library just to see if I could find any old orchid books and compare the care of the past to now. 22:22 Got my first two Psychopsis (Mendenhall hybrid) from J&L last week. I was thinking about it for three months and then decided to get one after doing some research. Some people compare it to an Oncidium, but they need to dry out. I've been using a digital scale just to be safe. A lot of people experience problems after repotting from what I've seen so far. They must be like cattleyas in that the roots cannot adapt to a sudden change, but I bought two just to increase my chances of success. 🤭 I'll have to wait for new roots which should be in the spring. The bulbs remind me of a Bulbophyllum though. 25:39 The Jewel Box was featured on other videos before and you mentioned that it's hard to find. If I ever see it online or in person, it will definitely ring a bell. The color is a nice shade of pink. I would have got one of the paphs though since they take forever to grow. ☺️ Either a paph, mounted phal (28:40), or mature Bellina (28:44). Maybe all three. 😆 35:05, 36:14, 36:44...Too many great stock plants... ☺️👍
Brian, dad was amazing. I feel sick to my stomach now when I look at my collection.😮😮😮
@@yolantalachance2779 thank you! And everyone’s collection has to start somewhere and we can only become better growers with time! :)
Wow! Amazing video! Love seeing their greenhouses as they really do have some amazing beauties! Also Miranda's and Chadwicks was good to see too! Really great video! Thank you!
there's clearly a visibly difference seing chadwicks orchids and Waldors. Species are notoriously harder than the species but is it just because the species are less vigorous than hybrids or is it the way hybrid growers have become better growers over time? You see some of the big greenhouses pumping out the bag baby plants whereas the species growers are far more specialized and only produce a handful a year. Just from personal experience I reckon if I had bought a trianae from chadwicks none of them would have survived but the Waldor trianaes looked twice as vigorous.
@@tomfurmby88 Chadwick and Waldor both have stunning plants for sure! I’ve purchased extremely healthy hybrids and species from both! You definitely can’t go wrong with either grower! :)
Waooo 😮 que Hermosa
Beautiful and hard work
Thank you for the lessons
Thanks so much for watching! :)
That’s Cirrhopetalum (Bulbophyllum) sp (stubby yellow fl pink bulb) right? I’ve been looking at that one on Andy’s site for a while and I’m pretty sure it’s gonna make its way into my order.
@@ChristophersTropicals oh I love this Bulbophyllum too! I wish I could buy one too! They have AMAZING specimens! I highlight them all in my full tour of the Andy’s Orchids!
Hi Bryan. Loved this tour if Taida orchids. Amber is so knowledgeable and I learned alot. Taida Phals are beautiful and lots of color. I saw she had some Paphiopedilums too. I have to go visit Taida it's only about an hour north of me. Going to watch the tour again because there was so much information. Love your tour 😊
Thank you so much, Karen! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! Taida is wonderful! Definitely pay them a visit! :) you won’t be disappointed! I really appreciate your support! :)

Hi Bryan that tour gets a WoW, do they ship to Jamaica ?
@@lornajohnson7278 Hi Lorna! Thank you so much!! I would send them an email to inquire. They do special shipments but I’m unsure if they ship internationally. Definitely worth the email, their plants are stunning!
Wish I could re-stock all the Phals lost. Down to 17 Orchids now ;* ( I keep watching these RUclips Orchid channels & each time come away more depressed remembering ALL the Orchids that went over the Rainbow Bridge.
@@BBQNBLUES Taida is a great place to start! :) and there’s always time to restock the collection and try new plants out for size! ;)
@@OrchidsByBryan Now that I'm retired + failing health.. I have to live vicariously through RUclips growers. Only wish I could afford $
Long time, no see! Taida was a great choice for a new upload though! 😁 2:11 The Phalaenopsis modesta is supposed to smell like grape soda and I have it wishlist. When it's time and I have the grow space, I will check out Taida's website. I think the mini phal is originally a Taiwan species so I'm not surprised that they import from there. 31:52 You can get a sense for how big this place is with this view. 😲 37:33 I think that thermometer was reading 85% humidity. It's 52% humidity inside the home right now which means more watering. 😩 48:29 I wonder how many of these could go in the same pot? Maybe three? 🤔
@@Joe-nj3bb I know I had to go on a little hiatus but I’ll get to that soon! ;) exciting things on the way for sure!
Linda demais ❤
Thats a huge piece of tree fern block
You’re telling me! That was the biggest tree fern piece I’ve ever seen!
My first one is on bloom for the first time. The flower looks more like the bellina but I prefer the flower of the bellina.
That’s awesome!! I love the Bellina flowers too! They are iconic!
I bought some rare plants from them. They have very healthy plants with reasonable prices. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome! I’m happy to hear you bought some great plants from them! Their stuff is awesome!
Cute! Which nursery is that at? I want one. 😍
@@sjereos7170 this was at Sunset Valley Orchids!
It looks to have Sophronitis red in it. Beautiful.
I think you may be onto something! I do love my Sophronitis too!
@@OrchidsByBryan Yes I had a Sophronitis cocinea years ago in my Dad's greenhouse. On the occasions when the temperature dropped, the other orchids suffered but the Sophronitis carried on unaffected. It was tough little plant and was always in flower.
Thanks for the tour! They have some great plants! BTW Thanks for the humidity tray lead! I ordered 6 from Waldor and now I'm ready for when my orchids need to come in for the winter!
That’s awesome!! I’m so glad to help and I’m glad you’re happy with them! And thank you for watching this tour too!
Wonderful video Bryan, very thorough! I loved the red hybrids, the La Hougettes and Jason Fischers. Interesting that although there were plenty of these in bloom, there were no kovachi hybrids out.
Oh yes, they are stunning! Bill has AMAZING kovachii hybrids, but they were in peak bloom when I visited his nursery in November! Hopefully I can highlight his plants this fall/winter too!
