It is not Yorks fault totaly the faylt of EMS. Tower pump needs to be controled by the YMC2 . Get that tower water down to 50-55 degrees and let that poor chiller live its best life. EMS should be able to plot rhe KW usage of the tower fans and chiller input KW and see the energy savings by running the tower water colder.

Great catch on the pump staging? With the colder weather, have they considered dropping cond temp? With that low of a load the chiller would love about 65F entering condenser water. If its in the 60's outside your wetbulb should be low enough for the towers, even if they struggle in the summer. Thoughts? Back seat driving here.

I've got to wonder what prompted them to change the behavior profile. It feels like a bean counter said "I can save 5k$ by stopping the pumps right before shutdown."

I hate remotely managed EMS... I run my own. If our company ever decides they want to go with remote management, I'm out of here... I've seen it cause WAY more problems than it solves... "It doesn't work like that" -- "I'm standing in the goddamn machine room and I'm telling you that's what it did... Either unfuck your program or I'll do it with a pair of wire cutters..."

Why don’t they control the condenser pumps through a relay. York controller can demand what it wants and turn it off properly.

Thanks for explaining how it all works, I remember we had a cooling tower at my old work place used for cooling 14 Anodising machines. I was told the system used 1 million gallons of water per week was glad I didn't have to pay the water bill!

I imagine the last guy said, compressor isn't running, it's low on gas, So you need a new system and here's the bid...

Will it detect a leak on copper tubing, example: I just brazed into a unit and my gauges are detecting a leak, could this thing find it for me?

Word of advice.....you really have to set fan correctly with those microchannel evaps. They will drip water into the space if it was a vertical config. With this being horizontal, you still will get water in the evap section if not set correctly.

I have that same unit at a facility, we have changed the ECM motor twice in 9 years. You need to remove the top, get a ladder and spend a ton of money to get that motor. Worst thing Trane has done

I'm installing a 7.5T split where I work now. Didn't know you had to have an option module just to use the strips. They didn't say anything when we got the quote. With Reliatel, all you ever had to do was cut the jumper to enable them.

The oil cooler on those Pentastars are notorious for failure. Usually fail around 50K. Also the water drainage is an issue on the Pro masters and Ford's Transit vans. Usually end up shorting the coils out.

Oops, commented too early. But still, a head's up: Most drives have a parameter setting that electrically reverses the motor. It allows a lazy installer to reverse rotation without swapping motor wires. It is usually disabled by default. An extensive power down, faulty memory keep alive supercap/battery, or power surge can toggle that parameter when the drive is powered back up. Another thing that causes that is static electricity, which could have happened when you blew the drive out in the truck. Early versions of some Damnfussy drives were prone to that and defaulting to full factory parameters.
