Skate Talk 1
The video layouts will start differing as I find something that works best with my style and doesn't stipend my progress in the process. I plan on including a lot more actual skating footage during these videos and less of just me talking for sure.

I am continuing to cover my weaknesses when it comes to fundamentals, and putting jumps on the side for now. There are many things wrong with my jump form that need to be fixed for me to ever get doubles and triples. I am passively working on building a good base form while focusing on my basic skills. #inlinefigureskating #inlineskating #figureskating #iceskating #solidskates
My Progress as an Inline Figure Skater

I am moving states soon, and this is one of my last chances to skate in this parking garage. I wish I was skating better today to show my best jump form, but it was just one of those days. I'm learning better ways to practice, and my rate of progression is increasing! I will continue to learn new things and perfect the ones I already know. My First Double Salchow on Inline Skates!!

It's probably a little early for me to be attempting doubles when my single salchow isn't perfect, but my form is improving daily on my salchows. I got eager and wanted to start on doubles. I think that if I can get this landing down, it will help a lot with my single axel too. I am going to take a break from loop jumps. ❤❤❤❤
hii i’ve been watching your vids ever since i found your channel through a yt short ( the single axel one ) ^^ may i ask if your skates’ set up is rockered or flat? i’ve been skating for a while and i kinda wanna get into doing jumps
@@teggs570 yes! 2mm rocker on the front and back. It helps a lot with the jumps, but if you have a flat set up that’s a little worn down you can still do most of the jumps as well.
@@SolidSkates cooll thank you ^^ my set up has 76mm wheels with 80mm ones in the middle ill practice a bit more now
Omg i literally enjoy watch your videos, and, how can you get doubles? I can only do one rotation on air 😭 still, u are impressive ✨💪
@@marluvss7 my double salchow is as sloppy as it gets, but thank you haha
Love the quality on this video, which camera do you use? I wanna start documenting my progress learning how to figure skate. I’ve kind of gotten obsessed with figure skating lately, but it’s difficult to get ice time during the summer 😅
@@markmagkasi2706 sounds like you need to hop on some inlines for the summer! I use the Sony A7 RV which is overkill for what I’m doing, but it’s because I’m a professional photographer so I already owned the equipment
so i have this question.... is ice skating and inline roller skating almost the same? as you already know that i am a beginner at inline skating so if i wanna try ice skating....... will it be easy for me as i know how to roller skate?
@@rubytroublemaker it’s very similar! You’ll notice a few fundamental differences but you’ll adapt to them pretty quick. You should definitely give it a try, you might like it way more, who knows. Having a rockered set up on your inlines would make it feel a lot more like ice skating and help you transfer over more of your skills.
Do you ever plan on getting inline frames that have toe stops? I’ve been having a lot of fun with the flip/lutz/flutz jumps I’m working on doing them into a bank at the skatepark. I’m still just at 180s but your style definitely got me inspired to try more jumps that I never even considered before
@@bebepastiche9105 I do plan on getting them eventually to practice strictly figure skating moves in, but I’m not sure if I’d use them over these if I’m in an area like this one where there’s multiple places to jump off of. But I have downhill skates, triskates, aggressive, quad, and slalom. So to finish off the collection I would just need a pair of figure skates 😅 not counting speed skates I guess
@@bebepastiche9105 you have to make some videos!! I would love to see some of the stuff you’re working on
What skates are those?
@@taylorreindl8007 the ones I’m wearing are the HC EVO pro boots by powerslide with a 4x80 rockered frame
@@SolidSkatesI’m definitely taking videos but none of them are post ready yet 😂 some days it doesn’t feel like I’m making progress but rewatching older clips helps put it all into perspective
YESSS SKATE VIDEEOOOOOOO, LOVE IT MAN
@@ThatBiGirl13 thank you!! I know I haven’t posted in a while 😅 I had to get settled back into the new area
@@SolidSkates for real! i was like scared why you werent posting anymore ahha, glady our back!
What are your thoughts about freestyle ice skating?
@@ghewins my thoughts are that I’m gonna be doing some of it this winter! I have basically zero experience with actual ice skating in general but personally figure skating has always drew my attention the most. Are you an ice skater then?
@@SolidSkates Many years ago I ice skated on almost a daily basis. I was never very good at it, but being able to immerse myself in moving to music out on the ice was the stress reliever I needed at the time. What impresses me about freestyle skating is that it seems to be all about the fun and that the ice makes possible tricks that physics simply doesn’t allow on other surfaces.
@@ghewins the music effect is real! Are you still doing some sort of skating still or are you all done?
@@SolidSkates I’m almost 75, so I’m pretty much done.
Killer
I loved this video!! The slow motion of the axel really helped! Thank you!
Is skateboarding harder than roller skating? You're doing great btw!
Thank you! And honestly, skateboarding is starting to click for me finally, but for the longest time skateboarding has seemed much much harder than in-line skating. I would say skateboarding has a tougher learning curve because the Ollie is so difficult to learn but after that it gets easier. Skateboarding is a lot more competitive at least in America so it feels harder when comparing myself to others for sure.
Was that a cantilever I saw u trying at the end there? I started trying those too this week dude! Idk if they’re even possible on my quads but it’s a cool move. Very scary to commit to
@@bebepastiche9105 haha yes, I forgot the name thank you! It’s incredibly hard, I’m not flexible enough, or strong enough, it involves some weird muscles in there. I don’t think it’s possible on quads because the axels would force you to continue turning both skates outwards unless you have incredible ankle mobility 😅
RSPCT bro... 🙏 I'm 36 and bought myself a pair of proper inline skates to get me started but I've got a long way to go before I can get creative 😅 For now I'm much too busy keeping myself upright while I move around ghehe 😋 I guess some pain (by falling and/or other f*ck ups) will be inevitable during this skating journey, although I'm pretty well patched up with protective gear (for the time being) 😇 Love your skating drive & enthousiasme, it's mighty inspiring 🤗 Definitely will be following your progress, I subscribed! Keep it up, my man 💪😉 ✌
@@brutallyhonest9218 thank you! And the falling is definitely inevitable. Even as I get better I’ve been wearing more and more protective gear, it’s always worth it. I love to hear stuff like this, keep skating!
This is a move I would like to be able to learn on my inlines so thanks for the short! It helps a lot to see it broken down the way you did here! 🔥
@@PokeProfWill I definitely recommend mastering it on foot before transferring it to skates, it build a bunch of bad habits from moving to skates too early
I might try this haha, ive already seen this on your instagram aswell😂 weather tommorow for me will be better so maybe ill go out and rollerblade

Amazing!!! THAT'S WONDERFULLLLLL
I think its still amazing that u can do it on ground😂
@@roki4336 trust me, there are still days I can’t 😭
I'm glad to see practicing with shoes. I find it very useful for rollerblading. I practiced the crossover with my shoes and it worked with my rollerblades.
@@darksider7791 I rushed way too fast onto skates with my jumps and formed a lot of bad habits so I’m going back to basics it really does help a ton
when you fell, I got really worried as I broke my leg while roller skating because of an invisible bump on the slope and you fell pretty bad...... it's great that you are fine and after all we learn our mistakes by falling and being fearless.
@@rubytroublemaker Me too for a second, my leg had never gone up like that! You broke it recently didn’t you? You have like 5 more weeks or so in a cast/boot right?
@@SolidSkates The doctor said that he will take an x ray on july 25 and if my bone not healed it may take 2 more week so like aug 7 i guess..... I really hope it's july 25. anyways I have a question.. which country are you from?

@@andrewcomerford2338 haha thanks! Roller skating for 1 year while working at a Sonic Drive in, and then 2 years on in-line skates, and I got into figure skating about 6 months ago!
this is awesome keep it up!
Thank you!! I will.
First of all, you are unbelievable. What you do on those inline skates is crazy. Before I bought my ice skates I started learning the elements of figure skating on inline skates (I did my first waltz jump on asphalt) and I know the difficulties. For practical reasons, I am still learning most things on my inline skates and then transferring this to ice. My ultimate goal is to learn an Axel, but I was stuck and scared, thinking it was impossible. So I have to thank you cause you got me inspired and motivated to try again. I hope to return to your channel with good news. Let's keep going!
@@giadadaga2743 I really appreciate hearing all this!! The axel has been very frustrating and difficult jump for me to learn, every time I try to fix something about my form, it gets significantly worse, so it’s like a very slow progression with massive ups and downs. Keep practicing! I’m excited to transfer over what I have to ice some day, let me know how transferring over works for you
your progress is great! I hope you get better at skating even more! :)
@@rubytroublemaker thank you, I will. I’m practicing everyday!
Lets gooo!
Great vid again! Your getting like amazingly good! keep it up! Weather here still sucks so im just waiting till the weather gets better.
@@ThatBiGirl13 I hope you can get skating soon, thank you!
The salchows look amazing now lol, also maybe u can try landing like a 360° first before the axel, i think its like the flip jump tho yea it is limited since u need a toepick but i think its doable Goodluck with moving and transferring to ice tho😮
Thank you! And I think they call those bell jumps where you do an axel but only 1 rotation and land forward, and they don’t feel very useful to me, I could definitely be doing them wrong though 😅
I also started figure skating on normal inline skates and you really are limited by the absence of a toe stop. I recently got artistic inline skates and I can say that the toe stop really helps with jumps. I haven't been able to skate all that much with my new skates because I've been getting nasty blisters while I break in my new boots. So far, I've been able to do waltz and salchows. Still working my way up to a single axel. Once I get used to the toe stops, I might start exploring one foot spins. Hope to see more content from you! cheers
Let me know if you post some videos, I’d love to see some of your jumps or spins! I think I’ll get an artistic pair eventually!

Cant accuse you of slacking. Man is putting thw Hours in! Everything is looking more and more natural smoother, neater. Interesting to hear you talk about people's attitude and comments about what your doing. It's pretty standard to get stupid remarks from Teenage Boys. They are just hardwired to behave that way. Girls will join in if they are with the Boys but love you when it's just them. What girl doesn't like a dancer. I have noticed a massive switch in attitude towards me and what I'm doing Vs a year ago. It was all nice comments and positives vibes a year back but the better I've become the more negative the attitude. Even members of our local rink group's have made snide diggy comments about posing and showing off. It's all down to fragile Ego's and people feeling inferior etc. All it does it make me skate harder mother fuckers...💪🖕😁
Looked pretty good! keep it going!

HEYY!!!! ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO!!!1 How do you turn though??? like before I broke my leg I didn't really know how to turn too, like do u mive your body or feet?..... I used kinda walk to turn around.
@@rubytroublemaker I would use the same walking motion to turn from forwards to backwards too, just a very smoothed out version of it. But now I’m learning all of the figure skating turns which are only in one foot. Three point turns are the easiest of them all. I’m not too knowledge about turns yet so I can’t really explain them my self but if you watch a video on three point turns I suggest learning them soon after your leg heals up because they aren’t too hard and they open up a lot of options, but hey, I did the walk to turn around thing for about two years and it will eventually look pretty good if you keep practicing it!
Spread eagle/side stance is such a fun way to skate. It’s how I usually air out at the skatepark. If you get really good at it you can get on your outside edges and turn like the “wrong way” I guess. it feels so weird I love it
@@bebepastiche9105 I can turn the wrong way a little bit when I get low, have you tried straightening your legs out like I’m doing? It’s so much harder but that’s how they usually do it in figure skating so I’m trying to get used to it, but I lack a bit more flexibility to make it look right
@@SolidSkatesdoing an outside spread eagle requires insane turnout like more than 180. My hips are really feeling it after trying this morning. I kept slipping into an Ina Bauer because I felt more stable with one bent knee
