100 amp hour battery aux battery and my jacket liners lasts 14 hours before recharging and that’s while it pulls 7 amps full blast. 😅😅😅
Thank god I got a warranty on my sportster s. Harley’s are not reliable
I have the same exact bike. I like it but would never buy another one. I just took it to the dealer to store it for the winter. He asked if I wanted any work done. I told him if you can clean up the FIVE warning lights that are on it would be great. It is ALWAYS something with this bike. I have three bikes so they don't individually get a lot of miles on them. One year ago I had the 5k service done on it. I thought that might help but it didnt.
Wow, then Harley is getting better. I got fucked by Harley many years ago. I bought a brand new Sporster sport in 2002, the dealership put a stage one screaming eagle kit on it. I broke it in as the manual said, at a 1000 miles Harley serviced it. At 1200 miles the bike was over heating and missing, there was no oil on the dipstick, but it was full after the service. Harley, both a dealership and Harley told me I had no warranty, why? The stage one kit.
Google states that the extended warranty doesn’t kick in until the factory warranty falls off is this true
@@RodneyJohnson-c3u for repair coverage that is correct, but other ESP benefits such as travel reimbursement start from the day you buy it.
The locks jammed on mine. Harley replaced them and they also failed.
@@alancousins846 I had one fail, they replaced the bag and I then got rid of them. A nice concept, but poor design.
Thank you for doing this video. Very informative. Did you have to change out your brake wires clutch wires Etc
Just had to undo some ties securing the brake line to get a little slack. That was all.
As you probably know, the W702 Pro version includes the flush mount block attachment, as well as ambient light sensor. The flush mount block attachment is available for separate purchase from Carpuride, as is an additional power cable, so you can easily switch the unit between bikes. Just unscrew the waterproof connector and then put the cap on the exposed end to keep it watertight while nothing is connected. As for the screen reacting to rain - it would be handy to have a button on the top to activate/deactivate the touch screen, just as some Garmin units have. It is possible to have your own custom startup screen (eg a picture of your bike) instead of the Carpuride logo, but unfortunately you have to go through their customer support to arrange it. It would be good if this feature could be built in, using the SD card.
Ya know😂😂😂😂ya know😅😅
But are not to be used at night the. What
30 degrees hear in uk is perfect whether to ride in
😁
I have pin lock, didn't help much at about 1 degrees this evening. That's how I ended up here😂
@@robingould7800 sometimes they lose the seal against face shield and need adjustment. But to be honest I don’t think I’ve ever tested mine at 1 degree F.
@MikesMotorbikeChannel . I'll take a look, my helmets new and it's possible it's not sealed properly.
Thanks Mike. I really appreciate your expertise and videos. They've helped me a bunch.😊
Glad to hear that, thanks so much for the support.
UK HD main dealers are the worst. I went to buy one and the scruffy staff just ignored me for 40 minutes and they finally asked want help I walked out walked into BMW bought a bike.
Timely and interesting video as I'm shopping for a 2024 SG. What I find interesting is that No one is talking about why Harley Davidson is only offering a 2 year factory warranty. We all know Cars and trucks come with 4 and 5 year Factory coverage, so why don't Harleys?
@@radscoot for motorcycles, most have only a 1 year warranty. As far as I know, only the more expensive brands like Harley, BMW and Triumph have a 2 year warranty. I not aware of any motorcycle manufacturer with a factory warranty over 2 years.
@@MikesMotorbikeChannel Honda and BMW offer 3 years Factory warranty. Harley should be offering the same or more. Its time for Harley owners to wake up and demand this on such an expensive premium motorcycle.
@ interesting, I was not aware that BWM and Honda had moved to 3 years, though for Honda it appears that is only on Goldwings and the rest are 1 year and BMW has a mileage limit of 36k miles, though that limit would be fine for my riding.
I appreciate ur content
I was gonna make the "I don't have any friends" joke, but you beat me to it! 😝 Thanks for keeping up the Pan America content, Mike!
This bike sucked when I had it back to back to back to back issues and time at dealership if you don’t have liquid 40k don’t buy this bike it will always dissappint you.
Sounds like you have some really bad luck. Mines been fine except I broke off the cruise control switch. Dealership is replacing it for free.
The biggest surprise here was the sport cases are only 5" narrower than the aluminum panniers. Bestem makes fitted liners that are currently $35. Has anyone figured out what those aluminum rails are for? With only one on each case, I can only imagine they are for securing a duffle across the pillion seat in a way that makes the cases impossible to open.
There are hooks on the top of each case to secure something across the seat. The aluminum inserts are just decorative.
I find hard to see the shiny black oil against the shiny black plastic. Seems like the dipstick says UPRIGHT on one side and SIDE on the other, interesting. Wish they had just gone with a sight glass, like everyone else.
Yes, dipstick is very difficult to read being all black. Sight glass would have been much better, or at the very least a different color dipstick.
I wonder what riders do when off road or touring when brakes fluid fail?
AZ 10K service is getting close to 600 dollars how about others? Seeing price flucations?
A little irrelevant, but do you have a dealer you trust to work on your Pan Am? I'm in MD and the dealer near me seems damn near clueless with this bike so I'm fine with travelling up to PA if needed
I’ve not had much work done at a dealer. Just a couple warranty items as I mentioned in my 10k mile review video, plus a brake fluid flush. All was done at Eisenhauers in York.
I can’t seem to find that particular brush that you used for the cleaning. Is there a name for it?

@ Ty
Very good video. Just what I was looking for. Thanks 😎
Perfect video... Keep up the good work 👍
Now Harley plans on moving the production of this bike to Asia!!
Sportster S owner here, to clear the code, what do you do? I don't see the option to clear a P160800P code. The updated version of the software doesn't have a clear code button like the Pan America. Do you know how to clear it?
That code indicates a charging issue. But I’ve heard others have issues clearing codes after the latest update that came out the other week. I’ve held off installing it myself.
@ I should have held off. Thanks for your input!
How do you clear the fault code
Thank you Mike
How about a lighter weight motorcycle?
great video, with great advice. Definitely getting those Green Chili straps. I would add some sort of protein bars. You never know when you get stuck and need to bring your blood sugar back up. Also a few hard candies, like jolly ranchers for the same thing, and for those with tubed tires, make sure you have all tools necessary to pull your tire off, spoons to get it off the rim, patch kit as well as extra tubes. I know some folks will only pack one tube; a 21" for the front, since you can jam that into the back if needed. Easier to wrap a 21" tube on a 19" rim vs the other way around.
Excellent video! Some very good advice!
Mike it was a great video. What tires are u running now?Do u like them
Dunlop Trailmax Missions. Good for a mix of street and dirt / gravel roads. They are heavy and have a lower speed rating than stock tires, I would not bother with them if you ride mostly paved roads, but they are a good option if you like to go on unpaved roads.
depending on how deep you go into the wilderness, if you can't get out and it turns into a survival situation calories are important. a good high calorie food combo to take with you is peanut butter and honey in a thick Ziplock bag. it's easy to store, lightweight, and packs a good punch when you're getting hungry while you're waiting for the calvary to arrive. also, along with the water you bring, bring some water purification tablets just in case you have a water bladder malfunction or run out. again, lightweight and you'll have plenty of water if you find a water source which shouldn't be hard in the wilderness.
Good job Mike! Was just up there today for a day ride on my orange creamsicle PanAm.
You're the man, Mike! The kind of adventure rider some of us adventure bike owners *wish* we were! BTW, I haven't put it through the paces, but I do think the CruzTools Pan America tool kit is a pretty decent place to start! If you get something similar, please let us know your thoughts! 😊
@@MadMathMike thanks for the kind words. I was thinking of just piecing together a tool kit from Harbor Freight, but the Cruz kit looks very good and I try to support smaller USA based companies when I can, so I’m seriously considering that one.
Ibuprofen &/or anti-inflammatory tablets for pain relief. Glucose chews/tablets for energy boost - careful if your diabetic.

Some good advice there Mike. I would add, learn how to use the first aid kit and make sure everyone in your groups knows. Just as important as everyone knowing how to use the garmimin.
Agree 💯
Glad everything went smooth. I also have a part question, on what light mount you using there? I am using some Universal Light bracket from touratech and they are rather bulky, yours are so much cleaner looking.
My aux lights are by Clearwater, and included the mounting brackets. I did slightly modify the mounting with some flat aluminum bar to offset the lights.
Hi Mike, great video as always. I notice you are using the V stream windscreen. Have you noticed and cracking around the upper bolt holes?
@@neilkrueger2682 none at all. But I have the short one.
@MikesMotorbikeChannel I have the standard. I can only see the cracks when the sun hits them at just the right angle. Something to keep an eye on!
@@neilkrueger2682 thanks for the heads up.
