    I lock my bike TO something, usually a steel guardrail and I use a disk lock with built in alarm. I have an Apple Air tag as a decoy and a good GPS tracker that can't be detected with a phone like the air tags can. I don't lock the handle bars because thieves are likely to do damage to the bike when they break it and not having it locked means the disc lock alarm is more likely to be set off.

    I have and use the Chinese generic disc brake alarm lock, its more of a determent. I also use about 4 to 5 locks on the bike. I saw the Lock Picking Lawyer defeat the disc brake alarm in less than 30 seconds using a large spiral bolt extractor inserted in between the small gap where the pin goes. I've considered the brake lever lock as a quick and lightweight security lock but I've always been concerned about potential damage to the brakes (lever, etc) with the continual use of a lever lock. No idea if that's possible but it's always something I think about in regards to lever locks and keeping the brake compressed for long periods of time. (over night etc) Edit: LOL, should have waited to post until the end. Releasing the valve or just cutting the line will release clamp down on the front brake. Too funny, useless security on that type of lock. Thanks for testing all of these security systems.

      it was someone actually telling me about the front brake lever lock that inspired me to make this video. Defeat ability aside, I share your concern with having the brakes applied for extended periods having a long term effect on master cylinder or caliper seals. But as you can see, it's not even worth worrying about it.. any disc lock is going to be far superior.

      @AndrewWilsonOz 18 дней назад

      @@MikesMotorbikeChannel Cable tying your front brake lever overnight, is a quick and dirty way, to "bleed" out any extra air bubbles in your line. It's a full proper bleed, but can clear the last of the bubble in your line. It really does no damage to your master cylinder seals. Most cars would use the same system, locking the master cylinder or just the back cylinders, to use as the parking brake. They survive just fine. The brake lock should be fine, but really, is just a visual deterrent, more than anything.

    About the dealer issues. One thing I do like, is that there tends to be 3 to 5 dealers within easy ride around where one lives. Versus the one dealership within a couple hundred miles for the BMW, Ducati dealership. So if I have a bad dealer with with the Harley I usually can find a better one nearby. I had bad luck with my BMW with only dealership within hundreds of hours. It became a stressful, frustrating deal and part of what made me get rid of the BMW was that lack of options for dealerships. :( Anyhow, great overall review, appreciated you sharing your long term experiences with the Pan American.

      sounds like you have checked all the same usual suspects that I would. Some folks have had issues with the right hand control module and needing it replaced; I wonder if that is a possible issue here. As bikes (and any vehicle) get more technologically advanced with data busses and control modules, it gets more difficult to troubleshoot and repair them without the specialized equipment from the manufacturer.

      the chain tensioners in this engine are hydraulic, so there is nothing that can be adjusted. I suppose it's possible that one could be faulty and not apply proper tension. You'd have to do a bit of tear down to remove them and inspect them, which unfortunately requires a slew of special tools that I don't have.

So far At 5,000 plus miles on my 2024 PA I havent had to make as many chain slack adjustments as I had with chain wax. Its slightly tacky so it doesnt sling. All O-Ring drive chains come in a sealed bag lubed with lithium based lube. I switched on the advice from the service manager at Hampton Roads Harley Davidson.
