Extended service plans, tire protection plans, or any sort of extended warranty, is almost never worth it. It’s really a form of insurance and you pay up front for the benefit of the what if. Like Mike said, there is a ton of margin / profit built-in to these. I’m sure it’s on the order of 50-75% in many cases. I worked at Best Buy many years ago. The protection plans for computers / electronics, were about 75% cheaper if you were an employee and bought one. Employee prices were cost plus 5% if I recall correctly. Sometimes, to move open box products, the manager would include one of these plans for free. In my experience, after having owned cars and many gadgets, if I always bought one of these plans, I would not have come out ahead, not even close. A lot of times you don’t even own the thing long enough to get the full benefit. Recently I got a nail in my car tire, and then again a few weeks later it happened again (different tire.) First time I’ve had to have a tire patched in over 15 years. Even with it happening twice, I’ll gladly pay the $30 twin times to have them repaired instead of owning a more expensive tire protection plan where I have to pay upfront.

Hi Mike... thanks much for sharing all the videos! really helpful!.. Writting you from Spain. I own a 2021 HD Panamerican Special (should say I am in love with this brand although my Panam has had all the issues you have mentioned in your videos (fuel pump, battery, electric system, back seat, clutch...) Just wanted to ask you if you have experienced in the 2021 model the clutch splitting from 6000 rpm when accelerating heavily... With 12000 miles they changed my clutch, as they said it was worn (probably because of this issue I burned the clutch earlier), but the new clutch they installed this week is doing the same thing: When accelerating heavily the clutch splits from 6000 rpm (no matter the driving mode I use, and no matter if I reduce the traction control on a customized driving mode)... I wonder if the clutch of this model 2021 is not the right one so I stop searching for the solution to the clutch splitting, because I am getting crazy... and I would have to drive more relaxed...... I don't know if you could reply here, if you do I would appreciate much... Thanks for everything!

Hi Mike, Would you happen to know what are other specs for sprockets and chain sizes we can use beside HD OEM specs? HD - OEM specs: Chain Size: 530 Chain Links: 128 Front Sprocket/Pulley Teeth: 19 Rear Sprocket/Pulley Teeth: 48

I demoed one at Sturgis this year. While it has plenty of power, the engine sounds like a threshing machine. Unbelievable ratty sounding engine at idle. I thought the BMW GS engine clattered, but this thing takes it to a whole new level! Now that Harley has annouced the Pan America production will move to Thailand, I've lost interest. Not about to pay top dollar for Asian labor rates.

I was able to shop around for my extended service plan (Price) before my factory ran out. Oddly enough every Harley Dealership I called was priced differently. Yes, they (The Harley Davidson Dealerships) did negotiate for my business! I saved $400-$600 just shopping around different Harley Davidson dealerships across 3 states. Great explanation of the extended service plan.

Super timely video! I purchased my ‘22 PAS in January, ‘23. 25k miles. I didn’t purchase ESP when new. However, just purchased the five-year, or three year extension if you will, last week. I purchased from the dealership, as did not want to risk going with another third-party, like Discount ESP. Like you, my first ESP ever on anything for the exact same reasons. It’s also worth mentioning the ESP is transferable. Should you decide to sell the motorcycle . While it probably won’t add value, makes it a little easier to sell.

On Harley’s website, they have an OEM parts finder with diagrams and part numbers. You should be able to see the missing parts you need plus a basic layout of where it mounts.

Since we don't actually get a warranty with an extended service plan, and since warranties in the US are 1 to 2 years, it follows that buying from an unreliable brand such as Harley is a bad idea.

I have no comment for the hater who slipped one in there. Just had dealer 1k mile service on my 2024 PA Special. Its my second PA. Only traded my 2022 in for the upgrades on the 24s. My 2022 had 24,000 miles on it . Only issue was noisy fuel pump replaced under warranty at 19,000 miles. I always purchase the full ESP with tire and wheel insurance as well. Would do so with any new machine these days no matter the make or type. The costs of replacement of major driveline components on everything is tremendous. Love the PA very much.
