After a Year of Sunday Lawn Care - Was it worth it?
Просмотров 61 тыс.2 года назад
After using Sunday for a year, we're actually getting somewhere with the lawn! The start of the growing season showed us how prepared the lawn was to get underway. There were no detectable bare patches that usually come out of an icy cold winter. I swapped out a new play-set which left a few bare spots that filled right in with Fescue Rescue seeds. We were among the first households that needed...

Stronger roots and resilience to drought. New grass is dark green and very soft. No mushrooms on t...
Masterbuilt 30" Electric Smoker - Adventure Series - Unbox & Assemble

As a first-time smoker, I wanted something simple. The Masterbuilt 30" Electric Smoker (MES130S) looked like the perfect combo. Good features, reputable brand, reasonably priced ($239), easy to operate, and was fairly portable! Why electric? Well, I figured that if I'm home, I am much less likely to run out of electricity than I am to run out of propane. Propane also requires you to monitor the...

This early refresh of the DJI Air 2 brings a much larger sensor for the main camera (1" CMOS) and a truly useful front-upward facing camera. While this may not warrant an upgrade from the Air 2, the Air 2S makes the already amazing drone even better (duh). This All-In-One drone features a foldable design that allows it to be packed into a very small carry bag, or in my case, inside my camera ba...

I had this happen to me just randomly and it was reality shattering. I genuinely thought i was dreaming or died or something and im just making things up
Great video! Appreciated!!I need to fry a bunch of chicken nuggets for a party. Same concept?
Yep pretty much! Nuggets probably aren’t as wet as wings so likely less steam and less chance of bubbling over.
Great video. Very informative. I used every aspect of it.
Does the brick/stone get super hot? What about explosions of the surrounding bricks/stine/concrete from the heat
Thanks Wow I might be able to do this? Not sure. I'm all alone with no help
Wouldn’t those pavers at the top explode from the heat? Unless they are made out of clay?
@@Miguel-g6x9k no it’s been fine and I have had some very hot fires in this pit. It’s not a solid stone so it’s porous and would likely just crumble instead of exploding.
Just found your channel And you’re doing great? Good plan and preparation makes for a great completed project! I own a campground in Alaska and have 30 or more fire pits, it would be nice to do all my pits as smokeless ..
I have watched all the videos on "smokeless" fire pits and I think this is the best. Thank you!
Lazy mans fire pit. This is how you do it the lazy way. And it shows in the final product. 👎
How many wings would you say you could do per batch? Great video!
@@SanDiegoKellers about 30 or so wings 🍻
Where did you find the paving stones that go around the top? Do they have a certain name for them?
One of the best DIY videos on RUclips. But I would pre punch before drilling to minimize travel and align the holes more nicely.
Hot air contains less oxygen per unit volume, so you would get as good or better results from just putting holes from the outside to draw cool air. Also, having such a large fire pit will require massive amounts of wood to benefit from the air all the way from the side. And who the heck likes sitting at raised fireplaces.. they only heat the top half of your body.
Watched every smokeless fire pit video on the net...this one just killed it 🤙🤙🤙down to the point / simple explaining / slight adjustments and boom!!!🔥🔥🔥 Legendary out come👏👏👏thanks Alot Man🤜🤛
This is a vegetable and rabbits love it
Once more here. Your two videos about this firepit really helped me with making some key design choices with a project of my own I already had half-done when I saw your videos So helpful! Thank you..
Your two videos about this firepit really helped me with making some key design choices with a project of my own I already had half-done when I saw your videos So helpful! Thank you.
Where did u find the cap pieces I've looked at lowes and home depot
Where do you get that kind of stone for building the walls, what is it called, i see everybody on tube using those and there is NOTHING like this in my region...
Smart move turning the flame off before adding the chicken. I'm glad i watched this before trying it myself!
I need to make my secondary burn holes smaller. I just have a gap on mine where the top bin is taller than the bottom bin. I have also found taller thinner pits work better.
Seen a few DIY smokeless pit YT. Yours was the easiest, no fuss. You must have been pleased when you got the "fingers of flame" from the top holes. Keep up the good work, well done.
Great product 🙏🍾
Does this work with sand bunkers?
3 years later how’s the pit doing? I assume the upgrade you did with adding mortar and lifting the ring produced much less smoke?
@@MunkieFeet wow three years already! It’s getting banged up by lawn mowers and kids so the top layer mortar didn’t completely stay together. It still works pretty darn well though given that there are a few gaps where the stones don’t completely seal the ring. The original bricks I used inside the pit disintegrated so I got a steel grate to put in there to help with airflow and keep the logs out of the ashes. I really need to get back into making some videos 😬
@@Jon_Chan do an update video with possible updates 👍🏻 thanks!
@@Jon_ChanA steel grate surely works well, but, have you considered actual *"FIRE BRICK?"* 🤷
Best weed puller 🎉
Did you purchase an extra mosquito and tick treatment or some type of bug control that usually goes down in the Spring? Curious to see how that was incorporated into your customized plan of regular treatments
@@chadmatejicka4133 I did buy it and was told to wait two weeks before or after a lawn application. But I’ll be honest, without the email reminders, I kept forgetting to apply it consistently so it didn’t feel very effective. I’m still getting chewed up by mosquitos this year 💀maybe next year I could set up something in my calendar to remind me
Great video. Few questions 1. As a part of your yearly package, did you receive treatments that were based on season? 2. When you renewed yearly, did the price from the prior year drastically change? 3. For the soil test, how is that handled if you have a front and back yard. I ask as I had a renovation a few years ago and the front yard was all newly grown seed where as the backyard was the original.
There are several comments stating that the emitters are inserted backwards in the video. Not according to the Rain Drip website! "The inline dripper has an integrated barb inlet on each side that fits 1/4 in. tubing, and EMITS WATER FROM THE COLORED SIDE [emphasis mine]." It appears that Jon has it correct! (Jon, you gave in to the naysayers too easily!)
Is there a way to turn off the blower so I can only use the vacuum suction?
@@danielacalderon7155 the muffler makes the output air very diffuse so it’s not blowing everything around when you are vacuuming up dirt. When you want to use the output air for something productive, that’s when you remove the muffler and attach the blower attachment.
@@Jon_Chan thank you so much, you are very kind!
Can i use vegetable oil like you use in deep fryers i wanna try this for i good party i was thinking maybe half of the pot of oil or so then fry??
Yea veg oil works. I think it just has a lower smoke point
This tool is a high risk of snapping the roots of tall weeds
No bullshitting and straight to the point. Thank you so much!
By far the best video on the subject, should compact underneath the block, though this is going to settle and look uneven that’s the only thing that he did wrong
Agreed, do the base better and mortar the blocks together. After hitting it a few times with the mower, it’s all jacked up.
Good idea
Great tool, but it does leave gaping holes in your lawn.
I had one and my weeds are so agressive, it broke after year. Fiskars
Got Sunday on Saturday and looking forward to see what it can do for my lawn. Thanks for sharing.
Just use a shovel 😅
cam across your video and plan to build a smokeless fire pit. Your explanation is awesome, thanks! Is there any updates to the pit since this video is kind of old?
Ya know I prob should get back to this and make an update. I have since dug deeper and lowered the pit a bit deeper so that way I feel more of the heat on my legs. I also added a metal grate inside to lift the logs a bit to help with airflow. And finally I would mortar it all together as the lawnmower bumping into it shifts the rocks a bit each time. The ring held up great though, still solid and works well.
A new video would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
@@Jon_Chan Thanks for keeping us updated! I'm about to try out this build! Question: If you dug a bit deeper, wouldn't the bottom 8 holes kinda get blocked by the ground?
Update: I tried following your spacing and ended up with maybe 5 extra wall stones?! and I need maybe 3 more wall caps. I'm actually spaced out a couple inches from the firering which seems like it would mean I would use more wall stones. Also, if my circle was smaller, I would need less wall caps. Oh well. It's looking decent and ready to try the first fire!
Hey John Chan! Absolutely loved the way you demonstrated putting the parts together on this video. I could not find the connecting piece required to connect the hose blowing operation until you said quote I wonder where this piece it's hiding? All I can say is that old expression a picture is worth 1000 words really fits here!
Glad to have helped! It’s been a couple years and this thing is still as powerful and useful as the first day! Just the other day I was actually using it to pick up some mulch that was left all over the lawn after the flower beds were mulched. You should have seen my neighbors face as I was vacuuming the lawn LOL
When will we get an update?
Why are u burning it in the middle of the day w no one around?
Bought one of these 20ish years ago and it's by far been the best weeding investment I've made. The newer model seems to be much more ergonomic with the handle though, may need to upgrade. Mine is just a 3 claw as well.
It’s so easy to use that I sometimes start weeding during one of those meetings that could have been an email.
I just started with my yard with Sundays. I had a different sprayer for my dandelion doom. Maybe because my yard was bigger. It did work pretty well, but I overestimated so I would have enough. I’ll let you know how the pet rescue works.
Does anyone know if he cuts the top stones as he doesnt say but they sure dont look rectangular in video.
The picture listed in Lowe’s website makes the stones look rectangular when it really isn’t. I didn’t cut anything
My 1st comment on a fire pit, 5 out of 5 stars! I've watched over 20 hours and now know dozens of things I won't do. I'm going to try to avoid the galvanized steal, out of an abundance of caution. Thanks Jon for showing us the right way.
Were can i buy those bricks please can someone tell me me
Lowe's or Home Depot
Dude! Didn’t even show installation to the end clamp. And there’s a better way to secure the lines than putting nail holes in your wood.
Please feel free to enlighten us. Then expound on what possible harm are nails in the underside of one's porch. It sounds like you already know everything, so why are you watching a how-to video?
Outstanding....i wonder if you had sealed all the bricks and the top completely but had 3 lower openings at bottom bricks if it would be even better???
Yeah I would mortar it all together minus the holes at the bottom. I think I was concerned the ring might need replacing every few years but now that it’s seasoned for a while now, I’m confident it’ll hold up longer than I thought. Plus, it doesn’t help that my wife knocks it with the mower and it screws up the pit. Or when the kids randomly decide to walk on it 🤦🏻♂️
