Love the classical music! It's a perfect pairing! 😄
Throw some white rice in there to soak up the extra juices and make pot go further
I got a early 502 off ebay it has a 9/62 501 fount.
Your testing is most interesting! Love the video! I've been using these for years and absolutely love them. My old USGI canteens always developed a rather bad smell and these have yet to do that.
Nobody noticed how rusty his griddle is?
Spam is horrible
To each their own. Thank you
Tell ya what I will get the cheapest not that much diff in any
I have since picked up some of the Aldis brand. It's in line with the others, not bad at all. Thanks
So the Great value scores better but spam wins 🤦🏻🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know... totally not fair. Yeah, I don't know what happened
Bought 4 of these. My favorite kit
Excellent. I like the idea of the canteen fitting inside, but I also want the stove to fit inside. I guess there is no such thing as a perfect mess kit, but this one and some others are close
@OliveDrabAlliance the only negative is that damned screw. Easy to lose.
Right now SPAM on Amazon is $3.98, and Great Value at Wally's is $2.00. I'm in Upstate NY.
SPAMazon. SPAM has gotten pretty expensive, and even though Great Value isn't quite as good, dollar for dollar, the Great Value is a better deal for sure.
What people fail to point out , is that the instructions are printed on a sticker on the inside of the lid. So you can not go wrong .
Sometimes it's good to see it. Tha KS for watching
All good items. Now... I want 1860's surplus equipment... Can use it for CW, Indian War period or just plain old west presentations. A gray enameled coffee pot has been on my list for years. Unfortunately every one I find has pin holes in the bottom. Santa, I've been good. Well mostly good. Merry Christmas my friend. May all your wishes come true.
I hope Santa brings you one! Thanks for watching
@6:49 Everywhere I look the poncho is made in China. Where can I buy the real deal U.S. military poncho? If it is not military surplus, I think it is made from different materials. Buying an item made of different materials defeats the purpose, right? The original is military tested and very durable. Not sure I want to spend $40+ dollars for something that won't last, or snaps rip out, or just fails to have the strength to use as a hammock. How about a military pocketknife? I don't have a pocketknife, but I am not sure if a sak or military pocketknife is what I should get/give.
ORC Industries INC. They are a U.S. manufacturer and military supplier. I believe the ponchos are $45 or so. Thanks
Bryan is the best
Bryan is alright, he's kind if a snitch though. Thank you
Treet is the best
There are a lot of hard core Treet fans out there. I would have never thought so. Thank you for watching
You forgot to put me on your list😢
You are on a list..... the naughty list. Hahahaha Just kidding Thank you
I like gv best
Aldis has a good one too. Very similar Thanks for watching
Merry Christmas to everyone. Hope y’all have a safe and happy Holiday Season.
Merry Christmas to you & yours as well. Peace on Earth maybe/hopefully Pray for it anyway Thank you
Vietnam era butt pack.
I've been going crazy for the $1 sauce bottles lol. Great stocking stuffers as well!
I don't go to Walmart often... believe it or not, I'm kind of an introvert, but man... I've picked up quite a few of those little bottles. Now they just need bottles about half that size.... but these will do. Perfect for the backpack! Thank you
Merry Christmas John, interesting to read your stocking stuffers have to fit in a wooden shoe, a good list and well presented, thank you for posting.
Yeah, I grew up with the wooden shoes at Christmas and I've just kept it going with my kids and step kids. I've never had a Christmas Stocking.
How about a Coleman lantern. As for the real deal U.S.Army poncho. Iam lucky i got 3 of them 1 woodland cammo and 2 real deal. Olive drabs. Yes! Great kit to have and look after.👌👍
That is awesome! I do love Coleman stuff. I have 6 or 7 lanterns, but I really like the Stoves. A Coleman lanter is super handy (especially when it gets dark at 430pm like it does here) Thank you
@OliveDrabAlliance Hi. Thanks for your reply. I've git 2 Coleman lanterns. 1 kerosene which i used a lot. The other is still new but a single mantle Dual fuel older version. Silver colour. Well here in Scotland it gets dark around the same time. Hard frost last night. As for the Coleman stoves i have 2 Peaks. 1 very old and still in use. The other was new but packed in on me. I will have to buy spares. The heat exchanger and internal wire broke. Stay safe keep warm and illuminated. 👍👍
Nice
Thank you. Have a great day!
Thank you I just tried the Great value lunch and bacon flavor. If I cook a crispy I found I particularly like it with grilled onions and make it a BLT
That sounds great! I'm going to have to try that. Sooner the better! Thank you
Good work. I actually broke a regular Nalgene. I dropped it full of water on pavement. I agree they are darn near indestructible.
I've only managed to scratch mine so far. I'm still partial to the military surplus, but that is probably just from nostalgia. Thank you
Pancho Liner
Yes! An excellent gift that anyone who once was in the service will instantly appreciate. Anyone who wasn't will appreciate it very soon after getting it. A top choice for gift giving for sure! Thank you
No Woobie?
A week or two ago I gave my woobie to a friend. He helped me with one of my vehicles. A few days later he let me know his 3 year old confiscated it from him and there was no way to separate her and her new woobie. Thanks for watching
@ 😊
very nice! well done!!
Thank you very much!
Great job my friend…. Very good gift ideas…‼️ Two more things I would add to the list are …… A Mora Knife and a headlamp of some sort….. Thanks for sharing and Take Care….‼️🪖🇺🇸
Oooooohhh. Those would make great gifts for sure. This is why people need to check the comments, for good tips and info! Thank you
HOW ABOUT SOME LINKS?
You're right. I could have done a much better job with this one. Thanks for the helpful advice/constructive criticism
Like the letter Kenny reference.
Excellent. It just kind of slipped out. Thank you
YT deleted my comment... not the first time. Their moderators lick 💩 in the woods. Anyway, I commented that any of these would be good gifts. Have a nice day in the woods with your Stroganoff. 👍
Everyone should checkout the KaBar spork. Game changer over the spoons included in MRE’s
I've seen those but I've never used one... I'm going to have to checkbit out. Thank you
@ we use to slip them into the Molle webbing on our vests so we always had a utensil with us.
They're all good things
Absolutely! I hope Santa brings you something good thus year. Thank you
Go tabasco hot sauce ! We don't want to be going anywhere near Worcestershire sauce ! Not because I have anything against the flavour, but we will be here all day discussing the correct pronunciation.........
Whaz-dis-here sauce? ... maybe? Tobasco is my favorite hit sauce. I did find a couple Franks Red Hot sauces in those little bottles at Walmart. Thank you very much
Hi John. It's still Jan from across the pond. I finally got around to changing the name on my channel. I will have to hunt out some Frank's Hot Sauce. I'm not a massive fan of dehydrated food. It's kind of bland. Whatever dehydrated meal Im eating, it usually needs something to liven it up a bit.
I priced Spam at Safeway this evening at $4.99! Kroger gets $4.69. Kroger's Luncheon Meat, 25% Less Salt is $2.69 and I liked it better (straight out of the can!) than Spam! I never eat the stuff but tried it after seeing it talked about here on RUclips. I might have had some way back in my childhood once maybe. Thanks for the great music!
That is some excellent music, for sure. Yeah, SPAM has gotten really expensive. Somebody should document the SPAM Index. There are some competitors that are decent. Thanks for watching
Brit military protective mask carrier is my fav. Instead of a watch cap, I wear my original 70’s helmet liner. Much warmer.
Nice. I was never issued a helmet liner (National Guard) or a watch cap. We had those BDU covers (caps) that had the flaps that folded down over the ears. We were issued Extreme Cold Weather hats. They kind of looked like hoods that you could button the flaps over your head or down around your face. Thanks for watching
I have bunch of ACU issue items given to me by a friend who went down-range in Ratznestistan 2X like 12 yrs ago. A medium ruck, improved canteen holder, a “sustainment pouch” entrenching tool cover, PRC 148 radio pouch [kinda rare] and a bunch of other pouches of various sizes, a molle ready vest, a wind/rain proof outer jacket [really rare]. My friends have the latest OCP stuff but the ACU issue items are like retro cool now. And getting hard to find ones that aren’t overseas knockoffs. Go figure.
My e-tool says Ames 1967
Another commenter here was really wanting one from that era. If you're looking to sell it, hit him up. What a great piece of gear. I'd bet yours will still dig a hole no problem. Thank you very much
Delivered that line with excellence! LMAO !!!
I'm glad you liked it.... I'm not so sure many others did.... I do what I want though, take it or leave it I guess. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you got a kick out of it.
I got a Beef with you and your Stroganoff in the woods…how about a case of Spam for Christmas??? Maybe a flavor sample pack or backpack??? Have fun stay safe.
The 2 Day SPAM supply??? 6 or 7 cans should be enough. Hahahaha. Or.... SPAM stroganoff???
Can't believe i missed this one. Love it!!!
Stay tuned for the Arctic Tactical Shopping Cart, coming soon?? Thank you
This looks like a cool idea I do have a shopping cart in my storage unit
Go for it. Use your imagination. Necessity is the mother of invention
Good Evening John ! I did catch THAT, Good 1. Great Ideas. TAKE CARE..
Good eye. Thank you & take care
🤣🤣🤣 The stare after.... Hilarious!!!
In "real life" I'm known for my DRY sense of humor. It has been difficult to convey that on youtube, but that stare was a good example for sure. Thank you.
All fine choices
Thank you very much. I hope you & yours have an excellent Christmas
Good video, thanks for some great suggestions.
Thank you for watching and thank you for the nice comments. I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and I hope all is well with you and yours.
Coleman used to sponsor maintenance seminars. A Coleman specialist would give presentations on maintaining and repairing Coleman products, and fix yours for free (including free replacement parts).
I believe they have a "school" you can go to and become a certified nerd..... I mean, Coleman Repair person. It is good to see a company that has enough faith in its product to take its product seriously.
There is a time, and a place for stroganoff.
There sure is. The best time? 6:30.... strait up. (That's an old joke.... get it?.... at 6:30 the hour and minute hands are strait up?)
@@OliveDrabAlliance straight up what?
great ideas there
Thank you. I hope you and yours have a blessed Christmas thus year.
Thows sleeping pads or ice mats are just junk there not Werth eney a Mont of money a specially if its 20 and up your just getting Ript off .
