I grew up watching old reruns of DAGWOOD & BLONDE and fell in love with his radicicolous sandwiches in which I always included KING OSCAR SARDINES every time . I also keep PICKLED HERRING , SAUERKRAUT in my preps . I feel lucky to have grown up with such a open menu free to try so many foods from around the world and have held on to my favorites over the years .

My wife and I are the only ones in the house that like sourkrout and my son and I are the only ones who like fish, so it can be tricky, but I always try to introduce the young'ns to new things or things they aren't used to... with mixed results Thanks for watching & have a good one
Ever since I found your channel, I've agreed with everything you do, regarding gear, how to prep, cooking out on the trail, etc. Now you're talking about Sardines! One of my stand by prepper supplies, plus an all around FAVOURITE snack of mine! A couple o' cana of Sardines in Olive Oil, some saltines, and I'm good to go. 👍👍
Thank goodness. I started reading your comment and at first I thought I lost you for good. I know sardines will be somewhat controversial. People love them and people hate them. A lot of people will not give them a try, but then talk about all the fish they are going to eat during SHTF. Thank you very much
Good Evening John ! I Loved the Thanks Giving dinner last night, you 2 are a RIOT. Now on to this VID. P S I LOVE Sardines & most canned fish. TAKE CARE..
Thank you. I see you and I recall what you said, thank you for that. I've been talking to my beautiful wife about doing a video on the topic of men convincing their wives on getting on board with prepping. Hopefully we can make this video soon. It's been tough around here. We are in the sandwich generation. Not only do we have to take care of our kids, but my dad has had issues lately and her grandfather has also had issues. It's been a rough year, probably nit the best year to start a RUclips channel, but Gid has a plan for us all. God has work for all of us to do. Thank you for watching & stay tuned. It can only get better from here.
I was really worried I would alienate a lot of people with this topic, but holy cow, the sardine lovers are showing the love. For the other survivalist, you can carry lunch in your pocket. The "trash" can be re-used. What isn't there to love? All these bugout prepper survivalist talk about catching fish.... but won't try sardines? I appreciate you very much. Keep prepping and keep one eye to the sky.
Nice video the ones in mustard are my favorite…I’m a senior now so I guess it’s cat food next anyway…unless I move to Ohio then it’s dogs and cats all the way. Have fun stay safe.
I have to be in the mood for sardines, but I really like the tined trout, and of course salmon. Really enjoy your mess kit cooking. Had to buy one of the cheap Chinese copies of German kit, pretty good for the money. I blame you for that but it’s a good thing. Cheers
That's awesome. That kit has been my go to kit, so I'm sure you will get some good use out of it. I don't have a Swiss kit and I'm sure there are better kits out there, but you see I keep going back to this one. I was thinking if doing this 72 hour sardine cleanse thing (im trying to get mire healthy), but yeah, I have to be in a mood for sardines too. Maybe every once in a while.
You forgot about kippers, salmon, mackerel and good old domestic tuna!! And just for the record, my fav deen is Season in the thick can. Get them at Costco in the eight pack. Damn - time for a snack!
There have been a couple people on here saying on toast. I've never heard if that until reading the comments here. You guys are the best and the comments are a great source of ideas and information. Thank you!

King Oscar skinless & boneless Spanish style are an excellent choice. They are Pilchard Sardines which I find have a more palatable flavor. They have red pepper, carrot and cucumber in them.
Somebody else asked if I had had Pilchards. I'm not sure if I have. Maybe I have and just never paid attention, but now I will keep an eye out. Thank you

@OliveDrabAlliance slightly chunkier 'meatier' version of a sardine, here in UK and I think also Africa they come in bean sized cans 400g in tomato sauce
@misolgit69 I googled it (after I replied). I felt pretty dumb when I did, but still, I'm not sure if I've had them. I've also never had any kind in tomato sauce. So I've had to stay close to town getting shots about every 4 days. If I came in and out, it's about 60 miles round trip on a bike. Plus we gotten rain making some of the back forest roads muddy. I should have my 1st vids up by Thanksgiving. I got a starlink mini that I can run off my ebike now. This is great, now I can go much deeper into the back country. Hope you and yours are doing well. Thanks and nice seeing ya!
While editing this, I thought about dough balls. I'm sure sardines can be used for fishing, just maybe not so much in raw form. I bet it would bring in the crawdads though, especially if coated in oil. I think it would help the scent to nit get washed away quickly. Thanks for watching, much appreciated
My lunch most every day features sardines or other canned seafood. All cans are lined with one polymer coating or another-no bare metal cans nowadays-so using them as a cooking pot isn’t a grand idea unless the S really has HTF.
Uh oh.... ibdidnt know that. Thank you. I am under the impression that you can burn it off? It kind if throws my "eat the sardines and cook an egg" idea out the window. Thanks for the info!

Americans need no special permission from any king! I’d like to see how you use the can/packaging to cook or repurpose it in different “survival” ideas.
I know "Waypoint Survival" made an entire cook kit out of old SPAM cans and sardine cans. I try to stay original, but sometimes it's difficult with SO MUCH here on youtube. I will give this some serious thought and see what I "can" come up with. Thank you
Some people love it, some people do not. I won't shy away from controversial topics. To sardine or not to sardine, that is the question Thank you, I appreciate your input.

Sardines mushed up on toast put under the grill for 5 minutes. Great winter food.👍🐟

Sardines, or kippered herring, in mustard sauce, or herring fillets in lemon and cracked pepper on toast are great for breakfast.
I do love mustard. Mustard and Tobasco Sauce, maybe with sourkrout.
Keeping it tame for now

If you pack them into a piece of finger bandage you can use them on a hook as bait. But much nicer on toast as a breakfast. Stay safe my friend.
