    Hello Again, Thank you for the site to download images..!! but, just when I think I'm getting the hang of this radio .... So I copied the New images to my image folder as it is plugged into the computer.. I can see the images when I look at the SD card on the radio but when I try to add them to the "model settings" page, only some of the models that originally on the card and just a few of the models I added show. and when I try to add the models i loaded they do not show up. I'm thinking somehow I must have corrupted that image folder. Do I need to download the entire firmware again or is there an easy way.. If I can just get this last item fixed (I will owe you great deal of gratitude and my sanity)

      @shanesdiy День назад

      Unlikely you corrupted the SD card and would need to do anything with the firmware. That exists on the radio, not the SD card so doesn't matter what you put on the SD card, you aren't going to corrupt the radio firmware. Now you can "damage" the Radio.yml file that is in the "/RADIO" folder if you modify the contents but you won't do that by putting images in the /IMAGES folder. Are you sure the image filenames and file types are compatible? 9 characters max plus the file extension. For example 123456789.png or 123456789.jpg will work. I don't think it will read .bmp files or .jpeg type. Also, might be some characters it won't read like @ * & % etc. so just use normal characters.

      @@flyjets305 Happy to hear it! Where did you purchase the radio from? Radiomaster direct or from a vendor? I don't see a "warranty void" sticker on mine, maybe I took it off a long time ago. I've had mine open dozens of times for mods, adjustments, etc. Parts are pretty cheap like switches, buttons, upgrade parts, etc. direct from Radiomaster. Shipping is a bit slow but I've always received my items. Not sure what to tell you, personally I rarely plan to attempt to get warranty replacement once I've used something for more than a short time. Hi Shane, I've downloaded a couple of widget packs, and I added the "flight" widget I have entered all the parameters (i think) to get it to function, but when I turn throttle on the specific time range, it still does not register a flight has taken place. any suggestions? also, Would you know if the I can use a microzone 8rc Rx with the TX16s, or is there a download for that? Thank you

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy 3 дня назад

      I've not done a video yet on the "Flights" widget yet, been considering it though. You have to get 3 things cleared for the specified number of seconds for it to log the flight. A switch, normally would be your throttle cut or "arming" switch. The throttle must be advanced for xx seconds. 3rd, the telemetry must be "talking". If you don't have telemetry, you can manually edit the LUA script, and tell it to ignore telemetry and just look for the switch and throttle. The @Painless360 channel recently did a video on the Flights Widget. He doesn't get into the script editing but shows the basics. Here's a link to that video, let me know if you have questions after that, be happy to help. ruclips.net/video/bT08M0S3MY0/видео.htmlsi=CQc07aj9-8QAFYgv

    I am in the process of setting up my NEW Tx16s Radiomaster, and I came across a short video discussing the antenna * Would you please clarify or confirm what configuration should the antenna be when flying? Straight up or to the side, Thank you and PS, since this radio is brand new is it necessary to update or upload anything at this time?

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy 5 дней назад

      I have a YT short demonstrating not to point the antenna at the receiver and a couple long form videos doing range testing on several different radios and receivers. In my first range test video I found the pointing to the left was the most effective but I suspect that was just specific to my position and other test parameters. In general the most important thing is not to point the antenna at the receiver so the orientation of the antenna depends on where the aircraft is in relationship to your position. In my opinion there are several things to consider on updating your radio. First just because you just purchased it, no telling how long it has been on someone's shelf and when it was programmed. If it has OpenTX on it, I would absolutely update it to EdgeTX since OpenTX isn't actively being supported or developed. If you have any EdgeTX 2.7 or newer it should be fine to fly with. Currently version 2.10.4 is the latest and there have been a lot of updates since 2.7, whether or nor the updates will make a big difference to you only you could say. If you haven't spent much time with the radio yet, I would personally get it all updated and learn the latest features before spending a lot of time getting everything setup and creating models. Specifically the DSM tools update discussed in this video, I would definitely update to ensure compatibility with the current Spektrum products. Last, if you are working with Spektrum DSM products I have to assume you have the 4in1 "multi protocol" version, so you would also want to have the latest firmware for that. Hope this is helpful. The TX16S and EdgeTX is amazing and rewarding to work with but will take some work to become proficient. There are many videos and guides out there to help and support you.

      @@shanesdiy thank you for your quick reply. It will have edgeTX I know that. I am coming from a flysky iA-6 radio which worked great, very simple. And I will be using my ia-6b receivers. I thought the the antenna was foldable for storage and that you would just extend so it is straight up. Why wouldn’t that be the universal way to use it ?

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy 5 дней назад

      @@flyjets305 In most cases straight up would be the best on average, unless the plane was directly above you I guess, but then it wouldn't be that far away so a non issue. I usually have mine straight up. In my first extensive range test, to see for myself, I tried up, left, right, and pointing at the receiver at various ranges and in that specific test, pointing left performed slightly better but not a dramatic result. If you are curious, here's a link to that first range test video where I did these orientation tests. Now, compared to my later Spektrum range test, the R88 receiver had significantly shorter range but most of what we learned applies across the board I believe. ruclips.net/video/wGf_V5N8guc/видео.html

    I have the V1200 with an AR 637TA receiver with flaps (ch6) and retracts (ch5). How do I setup a switch to select safe on/off and as3x modes? I have searched practically everywhere for help with this. You may be my last hope. Please help if you can.

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy 8 дней назад

      You can use any channel from 5-9 for safe modes. To keep channels 5 and 6 available for servo functions, use channel 7, 8, or 9 for safe f-modes. Since it is the TA version of the receiver, they are generally configured with "SAFE Select" that lets you enable safe during the bind process, then assign the desired safe modes channel by holding the sticks down and in and flipping the switch you've mapped for safe f-modes 5 times. For example, I use the SE switch on my TX16S for safe f-modes so I in the mixes I would assign the SE switch as the source for channel 7. Then once you have the channels 1-4 all setup to move the controls in the correct directions, rates at 100%, radio and receiver bound using using the method to enable safe mode, and then hold the two sticks down and in and flip SE from off->on->off 5 times. The controls should react confirming it took. If the channel selection process doesn't work it normally means one of a few things. 1) make sure you bound using DSMX2F and not DSM2. 2) Make sure you did not check the "enable max. throws" checkbox in the model RF setup. 3) Make sure you have full 100% rates on during the "stick and switch flip" process. 4) Make sure the rudder, elevator, and ailerons all move in the correct directions. If you have the latest forward programming scripts setup on your TX16S (assuming that is your radio) then most "SAFE Select" AR637TA receivers will let you access the channel select and also turn SAFE mode on/off via Forward Programming as well.

    Hello! I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I'm having. I just set up a Turbo Timber Evolution PNP with an AR630. It flys fine in AX3S only mode. Whenever I switch to safe it goes into a hard nosedive. I have checked and done everything I can think of and have not been able to come up with a solution. Any input on the situation would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy 15 дней назад

      @@anthonyl94 Sure, happy to help! Since it is an AR630, I assume you configured all the gyro settings via Forward Programming manually? What radio do you have? One of the steps when you setup SAFE is setting the "Attitude Trim". These are the pitch and roll values where the receiver believes the plane is "straight and level". If the plane wasn't straight and level when these values were captured it would attempt to pitch the plane to get it to where it "thinks" it is level. On the ground if you level the plane (with a tail dragger you'll have to prop the tail up so the plane is in the normal level flying attitude) and put it in safe, does the elevator (horizontal stabilizer) move down significantly? If yes, two reasons it will do that. First, there is a throttle to elevator mix you can set in the receiver that will pitch it down at low throttle. It doesn't normally move it down very far unless you intentionally set it that way. Second is if you have the "Attitude trim" adjusted incorrectly. Another less likely possibility is if you have multiple flight modes setup on the radio with separate trims for each mode and you have safe mode trimmed way down. Just thought of something else. On your radio is your elevator trim centered or do you have a lot of trim to get it to fly level in AS3X mode? If you had to give it lots of trim in AS3X mode to get it to fly level, when you put it in SAFE mode, it might over-compensate to counteract that trim. The receiver doesn't know if you adjust trim or move the stick, as far as the receiver is concerned, they are the same so it might think you are just pushing the stick down on purpose if you have lots of down trim. Just some initial thoughts, analyze each and let me know if you need additional clarification or assistance.

    • @anthonyl94
      @anthonyl94 15 дней назад

      @@shanesdiy Wow! I had no idea you had to prop the tail up to capture attitude trim! I'm using a TX16S Mark 2 Max. Now my confusion is that currently my attitude trim is captured (with tail down) at 0 Roll, +14 pitch. So wouldn't switching to safe make it nose up? So I leveled out the plane on the floor and switched to safe. The elevator moves down just slightly. Does not seem like enough to cause a severe nosedive like it has been doing. I'm currently looking at my F-mode setup in FWD Programming and have confirmed that "High thr to pitch" and "low thr to pitch" are turned off in all modes. (I use 3 flight modes. 1=as3x+safe+self level with low angle limits, 2=as3x+safe+self level with higher limits, 3=as3x only.) I do not have multiple trims for multiple flight modes. I have only 8% trim on rudder and 8% trim on aileron. 0 trim on elevator. When i switch between flight modes the channel outputs do not change. I will capture attitude trim with the plane level on the ground (tail propped up) and take it out for a test flight tomorrow. I don't normally fly with safe but I like to have it so my GF can fly too. She has a Aeroscout S, which she flies in safe mode. Thanks for the help. Your videos have definitely helped walk us through forward programming, setting up the TX16S, and the Aeroscout. It flies beautifully. 🙃 Will update tomorrow. Thanks again!

      @shanesdiy You sir are a genius! I turned AS3X gains to 100 and tested the gyros. The elevator is reversed!!! So I figure it's a combination of the gyro and attitude trim. Safe tries to level out to +14, (because i didnt prop the tail up when capturing trim) the gyro is reversed so it noses down, the receiver thinks it's falling, continues trying to level out which makes it nose down even more. Question, if I want to bind a standard 4 channel plane and a 6 channel plane, do I place the radio in the 6 channel mode before binding?

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy 22 дня назад

      It does not matter what mode, or "Profile", you have it in while you bind. All it does to the radio when you change profiles is move what switch is mapped to what channel. Even after binding you can change the profile around, the plane won't care. You just need to determine what profile the 6 channel airplane needs and you can leave it in that since for the 4 channel airplane, it won't matter if you are in profile 1 or 2. Unless you you a flying wing with elevons you won't want profile 3 or 4. So between profile 1 and 2 the only difference is that it swaps channels 6 and 7 between button A and switch D. In profile 1 button A is channel 6 and switch D is channel 7. In profile 2 button A is channel 7 and switch D is channel 6. If your 6 channel plane has flaps, you'll most likely want to be using profile 2. Depending on the servo orientation for each plane, you might have to invert a channel or two as you switch between planes. Still won't have to rebind. Hope this is clear, let me know if you you have any questions.

    Dude ! It's absolutely brilliant! ❤ It works perfectly up to 4s👌 Have you had any feedback on the modification using the 220k resistor? Obviously it's at my own risk, but would you say it's pretty safe? I'm afraid it will work for a while, then end up getting magic smoke mid-flight. 😅 And... Did you find electrical diagrams of the R88 to deduce the procedure to follow, or did you deduce by observations of the circuit? I would really like to know where to find this diagram if it exists 😁 Thank you very much for this video, these kinds of tricks are so cool! 🙏

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy Месяц назад

      Thank you for the comment. Yes it works with the 220K for up to 6S (26.07vdc). I didn't have 50vdc to feed it but according to the math, if you use a 1 meg ohm resistor in series it'll handle up to 12S (50.4vdc). I can't recall where I found the diagram, if I can find it I'll share. The internal voltage divider is: [Ground - > 100K ohm - > (3.3V max signal at RX chip) < - 470K ohm < - voltage input sense wire] So you add your series resistance to the 470K ohm resistor so that whatever voltage you feed to the input cannot output more than 3.3VDC. Hope that makes sense. Plenty of voltage divider calculators online to plug the numbers into. If you do it correctly the RX chip never sees greater than 3.3vdc. Just have to adjust the ratio to calibrate the display. Note that the higher you go the lower the resolution will be to display since you are dividing a higher voltage into 3.3 for the total resolution.

      @@shanesdiy A huge thank you for your ultra fast and detailed response! You are awesome 😀 It’s very informative. This also confirms my fears about the drop in resolution when increasing the division scale.. I had an idea and I would like to know if you think it is an electrically safe solution: With a Lipo 6S for example, Connect the voltage sensor wire to the second or third wire of the balance plug and only get the voltage of one or two cells! Unless you have a Lipo in poor condition there should be no significant imbalance between the cells, no? So I suppose it would be quite sufficient to set a low voltage alarm based on 3.7 or 7.4 volt. Am I wrong? Does this represent an electrical risk? The goal is to have the best resolution while remaining as simple as possible But if the cells do not discharge in a balanced way it might not actually be much more precise, or even worse.. So, Maybe just taking the voltage of 4S instead of 6 could be a good compromise..? I'm curious to know your opinion 😀 Thanks again!!!

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy 29 дней назад

      @@nikosystem1 Decided to run another test just now. Apparently the resolution isn't really a problem, maybe it would at some very high voltage but not up to 30V. I just did a test and added a 320K resistor which should allow up to 29.37 VDC sense input (which would be about a "7S" battery). With my bench supply I was able to hit 29.3V and with the adjusted ratio it measured that fine. I then lowered the supply to 12VDC (which would never swing that far in the normal use) and the telemetry voltage only drifted off by ~0.10 vdc and I'm using 2 decimal places with my telemetry display. I would not be concerned about resolution or accuracy. I would choose the appropriate series resistor for your required max voltage and measure full battery voltage. If you didn't want any series resistor you could certainly plug it into a balance lead and scale the ratio to that. I'm thinking just do cell #1 if you do that and just watch the single cell voltage. Since you wouldn't know if all cells were balanced and wouldn't be reading full battery voltage anyway the single cell voltage would be all you'd need and would actually be easier to decipher looking at the screen. 4.2v is full and about 3.5-3.8v, or whatever you use for low, would be time to land. Even if you monitor the full pack voltage you won't really know if a single cell gets out of balance, you'll have to check that with a LiPo tester after you land.

    A viewer asked about control surface trims which I should have mentioned in the video. While safe mode/auto leveling attitude trim is programmed into the receiver (assuming you use safe) the normal aileron, elevator, and rudder trims are on the radio. If switching between planes and one requires different trims to fly straight and level those trims will obviously carry over between planes. If you plane to use the DXS to switch between planes, it is important you take the time to mechanically trim each plane so that it requires little to no trim at the radio to dial it in or you'll be re-trimming each time you switch planes. Either that or make yourself a cheat sheet to know how many "clicks" each plane requires for a particular control surface. Then you could zero the trim, then move it to the necessary value for each plane. Another viewer asked if reverse thrust was possible. Yes, you can. The DXS is a 7 channel radio and with model profiles you change what switches control which channels somewhat. As long as you can configure your reverse thrust to operate on an available channel you can do it. If using an Avian ESC you'd have to configure the ESC with a compatible radio or with an Avian ESC programmer. I have other videos on how to configure Avian ESC's for reverse thrust.

      @@cattoymaker1 This isn't the manual specifically for the Avian Lite series but some of it might be similar though I have not checked. Try setup from this manual at your own risk but here is a link to the standard Avian ESC. www.spektrumrc.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-horizon-master/default/dwb627f043/Manuals/Avian-Manual-EN.pdf

    thx so to check if the 1.3 update is on the transmitter...if the blue light mode options come up then it's up to date right (as is case with mine)? and panic button only works for mode 1?

      Correct, if you try to power up in the profile select mode and don't get the blue light, it needs the update. Sounds like you are updated. When you go to profile 2 channel 6 moves to the D switch so if your plane has panic on channel 6 (like on an AeroScout for example) then the D switch would operate panic mode. Two of the D switch positions would be panic mode and one would be no panic. If channel 6 was not reversed panic would be in positions 0 & 1 and no panic would be position 2. If you reverse channel 6 position 0 would be no panic and positions 1 & 2 would be panic. Obviously not very intuitive so not recommended.
