  • Its been out for a while now but in case you didn't know, Spektrum receiver firmware 2.46.1 and up you no longer have to update the firmware via USB programmer to perform a factory reset on your BNF airplanes! Still requires Forward Programming to do the reset and to reprogram gyro functionality and if you do want/need to update your firmware you still need the USB SPMA3065 programmer.

    I just bought a tx16s. How do you get the forward programming application on it?

      I have a series of videos on it, here is a link to part 1 where I install it. Check in the video description for the current link to the latest Lua scripts. v0.57 is the current version as of today.

      And here is a link to the specific point in episode 3 where I show the new GitHub page and share some info on how to update if you had an old version.

    How do hou know what firmware is currently on the receiver?

    • @shanesdiy
      @shanesdiy  2 месяца назад

      If you must have a radio that can do Forward Programming, you can see the firmware number when you connect. You'll need a radio that can do Forward Programming to reset it anyway so attempt to connect and see if you have the "Show Advanced Menus:" option. If you don't see that option you either have the older firmware or your receiver is already unlocked in which case the option disappears because all the menus are already visible.

      The one I found was off a Facebook marketplace. Gotta be careful of scammers. If you can find one in your area, RC clubs occasionally have swap meets.

      I just checked what I paid and wasn't technically "cheap" at $55 including shipping but new ones are $85 plus shipping so I'm happy with it.
      rcgroups.com forum also has a pretty good classified section where you can find some deals.

      You’ll need it to update your Sky remote ID module and receivers..

      I think he was kidding but I agree, if you plan to use, or keep using, just about any Spektrum products you'll eventually need their USB programming cable.
