Nice!
The feet are nice tho
Every time you hold your hand up to recall him, I'm playing where's Waldo.
Lol
does it work with owls ?
We're not allowed to trap owls in Ontario.
I have a mating pair of Cooper’s Hawk’s on top of a piece of stone that I have. It’s pretty awesome.
That's awesome
Been watching some videos. Are Worms a common problem with hawks? What can be done?
I've never had to deal with worms but you can get meds
I’m convinced. I’ll need to trap my hawk friend. (Red Shouldered/ Red Tail). He already knows me. He comes every day for his chicken breasts or London broil). Can you educate me? I can buy the trap…… but I don’t have the knowledge of how to trap her safely. Is there a video? Also, if you work….. are they alright by themselves at home?
You need licenses and sponsor depending on where you live to trap or keep a bird. Check with your local bylaws
@ Thanks. Northern Virginia Agricultural Zoned. (Nokesville)
@ Can you recommend a sponsor near me? Zip code 20181. Nokesville, Virginia.
Sorry I'm not sure of one in your area. Check for Facebook groups maybe.
@ thanks
Ya directions suck you can't see what you're doing
I started building the mew , would like the link for the blue mounts. Thanks
Keep going strong💪
My English is not very good and I often don't understand what you explain, but I understand some things
I follow you from Iran
Do you have a tutorial about the Barbary Falcon?
Very good ❤
Nice 👍
What are the chances….. without ever trapping it…… of my daily visitor EVER just coming to my glove and trusting me?
1%
“To say a hawk is beautiful, is like saying The Sea is Wet”. (BBC; Midsummer Murders episode)
Not trying to contrary: Trying to gain the trust of a red tailed hawk. How do you know, when you trap a hawk, that they don’t have hungry chicks in the nest waiting for them?
We are only allowed to keep first year birds and it's after breeding season is done and during migration
@@ACRfalconryI’ve watched MANY of your videos. Haven’t seen you let them fly YET!
@@ACRfalconryhow do you distinguish a “first year bird?”
@roypalumbo6010 I have lots of hunting videos on my channel
Completely ignorant here. Been feeding a red tailed hawk for a week. I know nothing. Never heard of trapping. He sits on a very close by post in my yard every day, and stares at the front door. He seems to know I’ll leave some chicken or beef for him. Visits at 12:00 every day. Trying to gain his/her trust. So beautiful. Like a red bullet with legs in flight.
Belo pássaro parabéns 👏👏👏😎
Pretty cool stuff, hopefully one day 😢
I am finding it interesting the difference between captive bred and wild take Redtails in the initial training period. Coming from the UK I have been flying Redtails now for some 30yrs. Our Redtails of course are all captive bred and so the first time they see a human or even a tree is when we take them out of their seclusion aviaries at around 14 weeks or when they are hard penned. I believe that the wild trapped birds take to the hunting side quicker, by that I mean that they gain height in trees quicker and have learned a little about their quarry, as they have obviously survived before trapping by hunting themselves. Don't get me wrong their natural instinct soon kicks in. Keep it up, I am finding these videos really interesting.
Thanks for watching and I totally agree.
Drop him a oz then he be on the kill
I'm amazed at how quickly they catch on to things. I would have thought that that level of recall would take a bit more than 2 weeks worth of training. Either you're doing well with the training or I just have no sense of time scale for training a bird - maybe both. Question - Do hawks have to get used to their bells?
I always put the bells on before I free fly them to make sure they don't get scared by them but I've never seen one be bothered by a bell.
Do you feed him up after training, but before hooding him up and putting him back into the mews til the next day
Well I feed him about 60% while we hunt and the rest at home after the hunt.
Great series! Are you still feeding him at 60g per day?
No he's maintaining trap weight at 100g per day.
that was cool and also very real. thxs
Thanks for watching
Nice!!!!
💯👍😎💯
He is doing awesome!!
He is doing awesome!!
You've done amazing work with that bird !!!
Thank you. 😊
Ask where you picked up that vest? Or who makes it? Thanks
Bass pro shop. It's a turkey hunting vest. Works amazing
HAWK TUAHHHHHHHHHHH
Lol
Do you always feed him on the glove? Any ideas to resolve the vocalization?
I feed him on the glove or lure. I think because he trained so fast that he is starting to act like he thinks I'm his replacement parent. He needs to hunt and he should get less vocal.
@@ACRfalconry One of our trainers is hunting with gosh hawks since +30 years. As soon as he can go outside with his birds, he never feeds them on his ground or near the "Aviary". And also switches the place as often as possible for feeding and training when he is doing it on his hand. This should help to prevent that he combines you and the place with food and gets pretty vocal every time you or some human comes into sight. Also dont repeat the training steps to often, bring him to an easy hunt as soon as possible. (To combine your hand and going outside with prey/hunt/food.) But in grmany we are more or less forced to hunt only with breeded ones. It is nearly impossible to get a youg wild one is nearly impossible.
@Jyskall awesome advice. Thanks
Nice! In my experience, RTH get trained quickly, however, I never free fly until the bird is in love with the lure which I introduce in the early stages. In my opinion, the bird should fly to the lure even quicker than to the glove. If, for example, I'm feeding 70g of food each day, when introducing the lure i do less calls to the glove and put 40 g in the lure. I also use a whistle every time, maybe I'm too old school 😂😂😂😂 Great job, can't wait for a hunting video!
Thanks for the advice. I'm always learning and trying to improve. 😊
💯👍😊💯
He's a sharp bird, can't wait to see you hunt with him. I've been enjoying your catalog of videos on here as I'm searching for a sponsor.
How can you tell if someone is looking for a sponsor? Don't worry thet will tell you XD
@ found a sponsor, nice of you just being a dick for no reason.

How does it know to go back to the perch from the glove
They are super smart. Once they realize that going to the perch allows them to fly to the glove quicker to get more food. 🙂
love the content!
Thanks for watching 👀 🙂
Nice! Almost ready for free flying! Although I never do until my bird is in love with the lure!
That mantle looks pretty hard , once had a wild musket that would never fully give me his trust and would bust primaries all the time , I became a master gimper in my early teens . Just one question , that first pick up attempt, why no meat on your glove? , high strung hawks will trade there favourite red meat for quarry , also practice this when you pick a hawk off any lure , turkey neck are good for this as they offer little feed but look a good option and you can pull it back through the glove leaving a tiny piece .
Thanks for the advice. I usually do offer something and I'm not sure why I didn't in that one. She was the craziest hawk I've ever dealt with. 🙃
@ACRfalconry the closer any hawk gets to the gosshawk genus the crazier it becomes !
Doing great for day 8! Love seeing the progress and techniques, helps a lot. What are you feeding him currently?
80g of Quail
I am getting my first Harris Hawk next August. Currently building my mews :). Why don't you get a Goshawk i think they are better than any Buzzard.
I applied for a tag this season but I wasn't picked. Hopefully next season I get one. Good luck with your falconry adventures 😊
Really fast progression this time. Also a comment for the algo!
Thanks 😊
